Stevie Nicks took advantage of a break in Fleetwood Mac‘s current tour to stop by ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon last night and perform a pair of songs, including one from her new solo LP “ Lady “, ‘24 Karat Gold: Songs From the Vault.’

You can watch that song, ‘Lady,’ above, She also performed an exclusive rendition of Nicks’ Fleetwood Mac classic ‘Rhiannon,’ which she performed at the piano. Released October 7th, ’24 Karat Gold’ Nicks contiuned the streak of Top 10 solo records Nicks started with in 2001′s ‘Trouble in Shangri-La.’. ‘Lady,’ along with ‘The Dealer’ and ‘Starshine,’ was released as a single prior to ’24 Karat’ arriving in stores.

The likes of Johnny Marr of The Smiths, John Squire of The Stone Roses and Mick Jones of The Clash (who recently filmed Tom performing on his phone) have since signed his guitar in support of his push, and it seems there is now a lot of anticipation in hearing Tom’s first releases. Tom is a grafter, with a steel determination to succeed and a fantastic, strong, unique voice. His songs are quirky, catchy and commercial with a real raw and witty lyrical edge to them.

Flo Morrissey at 17 she uploaded a song she wrote to the internet, with a video starring her sisters, and it was spotted by Devendra Banhart’s manager, who she now works with. She is signed to Glassnote Records, the label that helped Mumford & Sons and CHVRCHES make it, and this summer her beautiful, folky sets were a highlight of Green Man Festival, Wilderness and SXSW.
Much of her music is inspired by her family, and if Morrissey is tired of being asked about them she shows no sign of it. “My family are a really big focus, not just on what I write but what I wear and who I am.”. Music was always around when she was growing up. “My mum studied piano to grade eight and my dad has good music taste — he introduced me to Devendra Barnhart.”
She’s recently returned from recording her debut album in Los Angeles and is honing material ahead of the release of her first single, Pages of Gold, in November and the album early next year , soundcloud.com/flomorrissey

Kristina Jung’s latest EP has an eerie appeal all of its own that, rather than being explained by geography, is simply the result of a wonderful voice and some timeless songwriting, I love her double tracked vocals on the “Hunter”.
Well written and exactingly performed folk that could have convincingly been released in 1969 as much as 2014 A weaving of a spell that transfixes you, the longing in the voice and sparse accompaniment all combining into magnificence sound,

We’ve featured already but having caught Daisy Victoria’s first ever live show with a full band . Its become abundantly clear that this is a young lady that people should be getting excited about. She is wonderfully reminiscent of Anna Calvi, with elements of PJ Harvey and Kate Bush thrown in, with a subtle, hidden bluesyness to her guitar playing as well. Ok, with that done we can focus on Daisy herself a little more.

Her recorded work is quite something, dark and twisted stories entwined with noir-ish melodies and hypnotically jarring moments of aural discordance. Live though, her most potent weapon, her voice, It’s quite grand, almost operatic and very theatrical. You can just see her singing in some ornate theatre, majestic furnishings all around her and elaborately chandeliers hanging from the gilded ceilings above as her vocals ring out across the auditorium.

Her music is also theatrical in a sense, but it is also dark, unnerving in places, romantic and destructive. It is a glorious antithesis of modern pop music; rich and textured with sound upon sound upon sound all adding layers to the narrative, to the heartbreak and dramatic tales that are being told. Like all the most interesting artists, she makes music that will divide opinion. Some will fall completely in love with it whilst others won’t.

Aquilo are a musical duo from Silverdale, Lancashire, England: Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher. Presently there is no such thing as a bad musical entity from the Lake District.  Aquilo are possibly the best of the lot from that area. If, that is, you’re one of those perverse individuals, like us, with a peculiar penchant for music that sounds like waves of aural honey pouring from your speakers.  but if you’re going to offer the opposite it should always be as limpidly lovely as Aquilo’s, as dreamily atmospheric and addicted to melancholy.

A particular favourite here is singer/songwriter/producer Hayden Calnin and his musical career were drawn in his teen years after his father gave him a guitar at age 14. He hasn’t gone a day since without playing it. Dabbling in bands through his teens led him to add drums and piano to his repertoire, until at age 17 he finally decided to take on vocals. A degree in film, with a major in sound design became Hayden’s entry point into the world of music production. From here on it was only natural that Hayden would begin recording his own songs at home.

Since releasing his independent debut EP ‘City’ in 2012 Hayden has supported the likes of Tom Odell, Matt Corby, Willy Mason, Oliver Tank and Missy Higgins. He’s played festivals including Falls Festival, Gorgeous Festival and NYE On The Hill and has received significant attention with international syncs for his songs on USA TV series ‘Suits’, MTVs ‘Awkward’ and new CW series ‘The 100’.

Debut EP ‘City’ and sophomore EP ‘Oh, Hunter‘ are out now worldwide on iTunes.
