King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard return with their first new music since 2017. Cyboogie b/w Acarine is a limited-edition 7” featuring two brand new songs from Australia’s freewheeling seven-piece band.  “Cyboogie” is a step in a new direction for Gizz with five of the seven members playing synth on the track and not a guitar in sight. It’s an incredibly fun, upbeat disco boogie track reminiscent of Stevie Wonder, Devo, Trans era Neil Young and everything that is good.

Cyboogie comes complete with a regulation Jason Galea video, which sees the band cast as a bunch of identikit analogue droogs.

Hozac Books is proud to present our third art book, I’m Just The Drummer: the Bob Bert artist compendium of photography and interviews, establishing his irreplaceable link between the 1970s No Wave movement and contemporary noise rock. Although Bert’s immediate work is best known drumming in his wide array of musical projects he’s been involved with (such as SONIC YOUTH, PUSSY GALORE, CHROME CRANKS, LYDIA LUNCH, and many more) since the early 1980s, the focus of his book isn’t drum-centric as it is an encapsulation of the artistic world he’s developed within. It’s not a drumming instructional guide, or a critical assessment of how the drummers in bands are treated, but a 200+ page guide through Bob’s musically adventurous life, and what a ride! Starting out with his teenage love of photography and his process of capturing the underground downtown figureheads as well as the emerging unknown No Wave bands, Bob was just as much of an enthusiastic fan of music as he was a fixture in some of the most crucial music of the 1980s, 90s, and beyond. And that’s what’s really important in the long run, as his excitement for music bursts from each page, providing the springboard to his long-running life in bands on the fringe of the mainstream.

But Bob Bert wasn’t just that figure of intersectional commonality of several pivotal bands with an edge over the last 30 years, oh no. He also has (not surprisingly) impeccable taste in music and culture, which could only sprout forth in the 1990s with an inevitable ‘zine,’ and thus, BB Gun Magazine was born. Spanning from 1995 until 2004, and covering emerging underground music, film, and outre artists sub-underground, as well as Hollywood-level impresarios, I’m Just the Drummer contains a wealth of interview excerpts from the elusive original magazines, along with his photography accompaniment. From NANCY SINATRA to VINCENT GALLO, and from SUICIDE to CYNTHIA PLASTER CASTER, Bert’s undeniable love & fascination of his subjects is hard to conceal, and his book is a perfect representation of an ongoing life of true adventure, traveling the world, and illuminating the darkest corners of our cultural curiosities.

Still high off the cosmic chemtrails from their instabuy 7″ Pleasure, psych garagemen Frankie and the Witch Fingers are teaming up again with NYC label Greenway Records for a brand spankin’ new full-length album titled ZAM, their fifth LP in their quickly expanding catalog.  The boys are venturing even further from the garage roots on this one, exploring everything from krautrock to funk, but still maintaining their exquisitely disorienting flavor of psychedelia.

ZAM is out March 1st on Greenway Records and the lead single just premiered “Realization” has “an unavoidable hypnotism in its funky guitar interludes, and after its rhythm-driven sonics and meddlesome lead vocals have left the station, there’s no chance of halting or derailing the psychedelic steam train.”

Don’t miss Sztuka Naiwna’s video for “Pleasure”  and catch the band on tour

ZAM is available on red and black splatter vinyl colorway limited to a mere 200 copies

Metronomy will bring the Woods Stage to a close on Sunday, with strong support from Deerhunter and Cate Le Bon, and the Garden Stage is closed by longtime friend of End Of The Road and national treasure Jarvis Cocker, who will be appearing as his latest, mysterious musical creation JARV IS…. Wakefield’s Award Winning Long Division Festival is back!
We’re delighted to announce the first 35 performers that will be joining us in Wakefield City Centre on June 1st

Australian quartet The Jungle Giants will be bringing sizzling hot indie rock anthems to Liverpool Sound City this summer 2019! Creators of music that ‘makes you want to dance, but also clench your fists,’ singles such as ‘Used to Be in Love’ and ‘Feel the Way I Do’ have been racking up millions of streams in their homeland. With 3 albums to boast and a number of sellout tours under their belts, it is only a matter of time before The Jungle Giants make a name for themselves on this hemisphere. check out the album “Quiet Ferocity”:

Listen to The Jungle Giants third studio album Quiet Ferocity and one thing becomes clear: they’ve found their sound. The band – featuring Sam Hales on vocals/guitar, Cesira Aitken on lead guitar, Andrew Dooris on Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals and Keelan Bijker on drums/trombone – met in Brisbane at Mansfield State High, and since their first performance in 2011, they’ve released two EPs (The Jungle Giants, 2011 and She’s a Riot, 2012) and two studio albums (Learn to Exist, 2013 and Speakerzoid, 2015).

Quiet Ferocity combines the signature melodic arrangements of their first album with the percussion-laden production of their second and catapults them into asonic stratosphere that is entirely their own sound.
“After Speakerzoid I didn’t write for a while,” Sam says. “I needed to figure out what I wanted to do. I had to get out of my head. Then one day I was in the pool. It came to me, and I made this conscious decision. I told the band I wanted to make banging indie rock. I wanted to make a strong record that I would be happy to play live.”

Band Members
Sam Hales – Vocals/Guitar
Cesira Aitken – Lead Guitar
Andrew Dooris – Bass Guitar/Backing Vocals

Oakland native, longtime Brooklyn resident, and now Los Angeles newcomer Jennah Bell, has been passionately described as the sum of music’s best parts; drawing influences from genres such as Folk, Soul, R&B, Rock, and Pop .Jennah Bell is not just a folk singer. She’s a master picker, yes, but her songs are heartier and brighter than your run-of-the-mill singer/songwriter ditty. That’s probably due to her soulful voice—she sounds ready to belt out a pop song or try out for a singing competition show, in a good way. She’s a natural talent, and her debut full-length, Anchors & Elephants (out February. 22nd) is sure to stun. The Berklee College of Music grad made the record with help from master mixer Russell Elevado (The Roots, Erykah Badu) as well as producers Michael Haziza and James Poyser, also a member of The Roots.  Jennah Bell could be one showcase set away from exploding.

“3hrs, 59min. (New York)” Written, Composed and Performed by Jennah Bell

In anticipation of her current headlining tour and her upcoming support tour with Kacey Musgraves, Sophie Allison, aka Soccer Mommy, has shared the demo for “Blossom” and the b-side “Be Seeing You” on Thursday. The latter was previously only available physically as a b-side to her “Last Girl” 7-inch on Bandcamp.

Both songs bring the tender intimacy we’ve come to associate with the Nashville native, like a love note pressed between the pages of a book. The demo of “Blossom” brings a more lo-fi sound than the iteration heard on Soccer Mommy’s acclaimed debut album “Clean”. Allison fills space with her omnipresent chorus of “oohs” versus the sharp clarity of the instrumentation in the album version. She made this demo for “Blossom” in her college dorm before i even knew “Clean” would exist, I was always really happy with it.

The 21-year-old recalled the history of the tracks in a statement:

“Blossom” was one of the first songs I wrote for Clean. It was before I even realized Clean was going to exist. I was always happy with the demo—it got made in the basement of my dorm room when I was still in college. “Be Seeing You” is an even older track. It was made as a single with the original recording of “Last Girl” but it was never put on streaming. It’s an old favorite of mine so I’m happy to see it get released everywhere.
