The KVB band members Nicholas Wood & Kat Day  The dark-as-night duo join the ranks of the Bristol label. The KVB have kept up a vigorous work rate since Nicholas Wood and Kat Day teamed up in 2010, releasing several cassettes and limited CD-Rs before their full-length “Always Then”  arrived in 2012. That was followed in 2013 by “Immaterial Visions” on Minimal Wave offshoot Cititrax and a remix EP featuring Regis and Silent Servant, while last year they recorded their “Out Of Body” EP at the Berlin studio of Brian Jonestown Massacre mastermind Anton Newcombe. The latest effort from the psych-drone-darkwave duo is Mirror Being, which appeared in a run of 100 cassettes at the start of the year and is now set to get a full vinyl release on Geoff Barrow’s Invada Records. “New Candys’ chemical recipe verge more on a psychedelic drift, like their beautiful LP ‘Stars Reach The Abyss’ showed a couple of years ago. Hypnotic and sedated with ‘Dark Love’, faster and acid pop garage with ‘Surf 2’. The quartet know how to write a song and keep the good vibe on, wisely dosing vintage and ideas.” .
“Dysfunctional trip, ‘Meltdown Corp’ by New Candys from Venezia, conjures gorgeously dislocated, psych-soaked abyssal plains.” The band are Stefano Bidoggia: bass, organ. Dario Lucchesi: drums, percussion. Diego Menegaldo: guitars, vocals. Fernando Nuti: guitars, sitar, vocals.

“Their song ‘Meltdown Corp’ it’s an absolutely jaw dropping track. In fact, I had not heard of them until this, and I was online ordering their album before the song was even over. And then I played the song again. And again.” .

Dead Rabbitts are Thomas Hayes, Neil Atkinson Jr, Suzanne Sims, Paul Seymour, Colin Fox with influences across Chocolate Watchband, Link Wray, Joy Division, The Beatles, Jesus & Marychain, Death In Vegas, Velvet Underground, Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Stooges, Spiritualized, Spaceman 3, The Doors etc…

This record is quite irresistable with its massive psychedelic overtones.  My favorite track “Here Comes Love”.
You probably won’t like this unless you’re over 50. But hey this is trippy and psychedelic. “I Turned On As You Turned Around”. Great hippie-folk-psychedelic album of The Dolly Rocker Movement’s leader  A side project. I like all that makes DanielFavorite track: Ships to Tarshish.  My favourite Australian musician and performer. This album is trippy and awesome.

Shelflife Records presents the release of the Melbourne shoegaze/psych outfit Flyying Colours this track “Not Today” remix taken from the self-titled 5-track EP
True to their name, Flyying Colours unashamedly display their influences in this debut: tone bending MBV/Swervedriver guitars, Ride’s bass hooks and the familiar soft hush of early 90s male/female vocals. Add to that their own edgy, refreshing pop-mindedness and it makes for five completely brilliant tracks.

The EP includes pile-driving single “Wavygravy”, a layered noise anthem jumped on by national radio and the international shoegaze blogosphere on its Oz release last April. Other stand out tracks are psych-rock opener “Like You Said”, “Feathers” with its chorus-y jangle and lush vocals and the cool-down of closing track “Bugs.”

Formed in 2011, Flyying Colours is Brodie J Brümmer (vox/Guitar), Gemma O’Connor (vox/Guitar) and the drums & bass of brothers Sam and Joshua Dawes. Before “Wavygravy” they received a lot of attention for their explosive live shows, setting them well apart from others occupying Melbourne’s growing 90s/shoegaze scene. Flyying Colours have just completed an Australian tour and are currently recording tracks for their debut album.

Austin’s own Holy Wave made strides in 2014. They released a new album, “Relax”, via The Reverberation Appreciation Society with a cassette co-release via Burger Records, which premiered on Paste Magazine and was highlighted on Pitchfork’s . Holy Wave expanded to a five-piece for the album, recording with producer Erik Wofford (Explosions in the Sky, My Morning Jacket, The Black Angels) at Cacophony Studios. This was followed by the band’s European debut, where their surf sounds, droning riffs and Nuggets-esque hooks were greeted with affection. Holy Wave also just made their TV debut on Last Call with Carson Daly in February of 2015.

Nashville-based ALL THEM WITCHES impress in both their cohesive sound and their obvious drive toward an individual approach. Their blend of blues rocking grooves and heavy psych-derived jamming comes through clearly, and has wasted no time in getting to the public’s ears thanks to date their two stunning albums.
Their debut LP, “Our Mother Electricity” was released in early 2012, making them the first American band to release an album through Germany’s Elektrohasch, heavy psyche innovator Stefan Koglek’s personal imprint. They soon became known for their engaging live shows. They quickly followed this up in July of 2013 with the “Extra Pleasant” EP, recorded direct to a four-track cassette tape with two microphones with their DIY aesthetic firmly established.
When their sophomore effort, Lightning At The Door, was informally released as a surprise to hungry fans in November of 2013, they quickly sold through their physical stock of discs, receiving more praise for their ability to balance dense, chugging tracks like “Swallowed by the Sea” with soulful, bluesy ones like “The Marriage of Coyote Woman.”
