VAULTS – ” Vultures “

London trio Vaults deal in slow-build pop. They’re not half as spooky as they try and make out. They’ve supported London Grammar, and the more accessible moments on this three-track EP are similar to the chart-topping threesome.  The orchestral, R&B-tinged ‘Vaults’ is the best thing here, and the band have a certain way with original sounds.

Psych-folk troubadour Lyla Foy has uncovered a haunting live session version of “Rumour”, and she kindly filmed it too. Lyla Foy, formerly known as Walls, released her debut LP Mirrors The Sky” during the Spring on Sub Pop Records.

Her new session of “Rumours” takes the potent emotional core and jazzes it up with some stark, high-contrast imagery replete with kaleidoscopic shimmers. The track remains as spine-tingling as ever, and the rawer quality that the live setting brings only serves to plunge the knife deeper into your feels.

Brooklyn three-piece Monogold creates enveloping, psychedelic dream-pop, most recently heard on their last full-length album, 2011’s The Softest Glow, and they’ll expand on that palette with their new EP, This Bloom. The EP’s six tracks vary from gentle, ambling pieces with wordless vocals (“Skylark”) to drum-driven, effects-drenched workouts (“Holograms”). This Bloom comes out on November 11, but you can stream the whole thing below.

Aurora, from Norway, and just eighteen years old, so really I’m not allowed here.” That’s how Aurora Aksnes introduced herself to a packed Rockwood Music Hall. She’s spent the last 12 months dazzling her native nation, and now Norway’s Aurora Aksnes is set to make her debut UK performance.
With just one track available – the delectable ‘Awakening’ – Aurora’s managed to grab some serious international attention, and already has taken her refined live show around Norway and Germany.
