Fast becoming my favourite new band , the quality of songs coming from this band is amazing, ‘Cut Me And I’ll Bleed’ is the second single from this Stockport band ,Blossoms, released by Skeleton Key Records. This new band is bringing us spring-time a little earlier than expected. Introducing the classically British pop quintet, Blossoms. Their sound mixes a spoonful of psychedelia, with a cup of candid songwriting; and to finish it off, a sprinkling of nostalgia. The band first emerged earlier last year, with single ‘Blow‘, now they are back with their second offering ‘Cut Me And I’ll Bleed’. In true British pop style, the band ensure they give a confident nod to the past with this track, from working with The Coral’s James Skelly to releasing it on limited edition 7″ vinyl. Set to be released on Monday 02.03.2015, the track will coincide with the band’s UK tour, beginning at the end of this month and running throughout February and March.

Amen Dunes, is the project of Damon McMahon, what began as a collection of improvised songs made in the fall of 2006 in a trailer in upstate New York. After sharing them with a few friends, the tapes were shelved, and the following summer McMahon moved to China and all but quit making music.

Three years later they emerged to underground critical acclaim as D.I.A., prompting McMahon to move home and begin performing live in the US and in Europe with a rotating cast of musicians, in recent years focused around the core of Jordi Wheeler and Parker Kindred.

Amen Dunes releases have taken a variety of forms, from spoken word and bedroom industrial music, to downer Ethiopian covers and harsh folk, to classic American ballads. At the center of its various manifestations, however, all Amen Dunes music is the exploration of the alien elemental song.

Singapore Sling are an alternative rock band from Reykjavik, Iceland. They are inexplicable and elusive but have noticeable influences from bands like Jesus and Mary Chain, My Bloody Valentine and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Their leader is singer-songwriter-guitarist Henrik Björnsson (who is also part of the Dead Skeletons project).

‘Godman’ is a classic from Singapore Sling’s 2009 album ‘Perversity, Desperation And Death’, which was released through German label 8mmmusik.

In short, Al Lover is a producer from San Francisco, but there’s more layers to his wall of sound then meets the ear. Over the last few years he has gained much notoriety for his melding of contemporary and past garage and psychedelic rock into harsh yet spacey abrasive beats. Influenced as much by The 13th Floor Elevators as DJ Shadow, Al Combines crunchy drums, shaky percussion, chopped samples and layers of textured effects to create an unexplored path for psychedelic music, offering an earthy and loose approach that sounds more like you’re listening to a DMT fueled psych band than a beat made on an MPC.

chimes

New Jersey/Brooklyn based Chimes is a psych/slack rock foursome that revel in nothingness. While exploring dream worlds and the cinematic, they wade through pools of post-punk, psychedelia, and shoegaze, allowing rip currents of sonic expression to take them under.

“Total Sunflower” is one of my favourite songs this month. It’s an electric track charged with a heavy post-punk feel on the guitars and vocals; a pummeling yet gauzy ride through wild guitar bends, pedal scuzz, and nihilistic poetics. This is a band to keep your ear on in 2015.

Great Psych video from the Babe Rainbow the band are from Byron Bay in New South Wales, the Australian based band ,The Babe Rainbow are a jangle psych band band . Their music recalls the early work of Tame Impala, their new single, “Planet Junior”, features some delicate guitar interplay, quick vocal drops, and heavy reverb.

Angus Dowling, Kool Breeze and Dr. Elliot Love-Wisdom; these are the three ‘purveyors of all things good and right in the world’, of the kaleidoscope tinged and blissfully magical band of THE BABE RAINBOW. nostalgia in both sight and sound,
