The Canadian group Dilly Dally exude a combination of nonchalance and expertly-concealed nervousness. Their songs are bloody-knuckled marvels, big, hammering numbers that are grainy and gritty and yet still centered around clear and cunning pop melodies .  The reference points are all late ’90s – there are nods to Nirvana and L7 in both the charred scrap metal guitars and Katie Monks’s roaring, blown-throat vocals. Their force and power was breathtaking, the sound of a band discovering itself in real-time and reveling in the possibilities.

New York’s Public Access TV are Radar Band Of The Week in this week’s NME, and for good reason. Since emerging at the beginning of this year with debut track ‘Monaco’, they’ve slowly but surely set out their stall as the most exciting thing to step out of Gotham in recent memory. ‘In The Mirror’ follows the buoyant garage-pop of this summer’s ‘Rebounder’ EP, showing that they’ve still got plenty left in the tank with a Costello strut and Strokes-esque loucheness. Listen below and catch the band when they head over to the UK in November to support Circa Waves who will be at the Bodega Social In Nottingham on the 11th November.

New York City band “Shark?” play indie-rock in its purest form: smart with lackadaisical guitar-bass-drums music, catchy and undercut with sentimental vibes. “Big Summer (Summer Ale),” from the band’s new “Summer Ale EP, builds upon last year’s full-length debut Savior. It’s the strongest song this band has done, and it approaches epic length by this band’s standards, but it still scrapes and sputters with lo-fi charm.

A band from downtown New York City, and one of the new exciting bands emerging from the huge metroplois, Bright strutting garage type pop a la Strokes style.
Public Access TV: Had Stiff Records just formed in 2015, it’s highly likely that this New York fourpiece would have become their first signing. Tracks like ‘Monaco’ and ‘In The Mirror’ recall the angsty, pinpointed brilliance of new wave giants like Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe. Led by John Eatherly, they’re loved by Weezer, Ex Hex and fellow 2015 hopefuls Deers to name a few.
