Saving Grace, is the latest musical project from former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant who has announced a run of North American tour dates scheduled for the spring. The band features singer Suzi Dian, Oli Jefferson (percussion), Tony Kelsey (mandolin, baritone, acoustic guitar), and Matt Worley (banjo, acoustic/baritone guitars).

The famous rock singer took to his social media outlets on Tuesday morning to announce the upcoming run of shows that begins on May 12th . The brief run continues over six more shows in select U.S. cities, including Chicago, IL (5/15); Port Chester, NY (5/20); and New York City (5/20) before wrapping in Washington, D.C. on May 25th. The tour will also feature Catfish Keith on the billing at every performance except the Chicago date.

Saving Grace gave their first performances in the U.K. and Ireland in 2020. The band will also play five shows in the U.K. ahead of the North American run beginning on March 15th, which includes an appearance at Cheltenham Jazz Festival.

The relatively new band explores a “Repertoire of ‘music inspired by the dreamscape of the Welsh Marches,’ [and] songs that span Plant’s diverse tastes and influences, notably his lifelong passion for British and American folk, spirituals, and traditional blues, including a number of beloved standards and longtime favorites,” according to a press statement . Plant closed last year touring throughout the fall with his other band, The Sensational Space Shifters, while also releasing reissued singles from his solo catalog with the “Digging Deep” Box Set that arrived in February.

The National’s Matt Berninger has covered Mercury Rev’s “Holes,” which opens their classic 1998 album Deserter’s Songs, at the NYC Tibet House benefit on Wednesday and now he’s shared a gorgeous studio version of the song that is being released as a single as part of the 7 Inches Vinyl for Planned Parenthood series.

Berninger’s version of “Holes,” produced by Booker T. Jones, is the A-side; a spoken word by lawyer and former Acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal, called “A Reproductive Rights Call To Action,” is the B-side. Watch a music video for Berninger’s cover below.

Berninger gave the following statement in a press release:

I found myself wasting a lot of time and energy worrying about all the threats to the world and to my kid’s rights. Finally, I just turned everything off and tried to chill. I started listening to a lot of old favorite records and re-reading books. All my energy and optimism came back and I started recording a lot. So many people I know are having this experience and doing their best work right now. Instead of watching everything being destroyed why not have fun and create things that can fight back. I’ve never been happier. Joy is an act of resistance. IDLES said that.

“Holes” originally written and recorded by Mercury Rev (Jonathan Donahue, Sean Mackowiack, Adam Snyder, and David Fridmann)

It’s hard to believe that it was already four years ago when a 19-year old Låpsley released one of the most promising debut records in recent memory in the spectacular, “Long Way Home”. Songs like “Hurt Me,” “Falling Short” and “Operator” are still on heavy rotation for us (the latter thanks in part to DJ Koze’s popular Disco remix), and Through Water is an exciting next phase for the songwriter and producer.

“That was the first track I wrote for the record. I’ve been touring since I was eighteen and then took a year off for many reasons, trying to recharge. I wrote it in quite a difficult place from the point of view of a version of myself in the future that knew her shit and was more confident. It’s funny, because now when I sing it it’s my present. I originally wrote and produced that track in my flat in Manchester just with a little home set-up. Then I reproduced it with Peter Grady who has a project called Joy Orbison. I re-did a lot of the synth lines in his studio.”

Låpsley’s early work came with a certain elegance that she’s certainly built upon on last December’s These Elements EP. Two songs from that EP, “My Love Was Like The Rain” and “Ligne 3” will also appear on Through Water and show the exquisite production and distinct vocal duality that put Låpsley on our radar to begin with.

An electro-pop music with slow and measured rhythms, all accompanied by a voice to fall in love. Finesse and excellent fuel economy, the young British singer Lapsley book a great EP that points to a nagging R & B and languorous.
Handsome as hell.

Caroline Rose’s “Loner” is a masterstroke of an album, and the three singles that proceeded it give you insights to the vast array of soundscapes and moods that encompass this career defining album. I found these songs on constant repeat all last year long. If you’re not familiar, now’s your chance to change that! Don’t let it pass you by without warming up to this stellar collection of songs.

With her all-red wardrobe and wild dance moves, you may feel an urge to assign Caroline Rose the description “quirky.” Resist it. The Austin, Texas-based indie pop artist isn’t an oddity—she’s a hungry artist on a quest for constant evolution. Beginning in the Americana scene back in 2014 with her debut album I Will Not Be Afraid, Rose later abandoned her country pursuits for a chance at making something much more unique: satirical, endlessly catchy synth-pop. That was the crux of her 2018 record Loner. Now, she’s back with something new: an underdog’s odyssey set to music. Lead single “Feel The Way I Want” is a lose-yourself dance track, but “Freak Like Me” is a classy piano ballad. There’s no telling what the entirety of Superstar will sound like. What can’t this girl do?

Madison power-pop five-piece Disq have spent the past couple of years stealing hearts. The young band’s impressive debut single for Saddle Creek back in 2018, plus a strong showing at last year’s SXSW festival, made them a band to watch, but their forthcoming debut album, “Collector”, crowns them with staying power. Painting with various shades of pop, punk and indie, Disq delivers guitar flare and emotional sincerity. With a retro sheen, guitars crumple, chime and squawk while lead singer Isaac deBroux-Slone brings his own vocal versatility.

As a rock band of young millennials, there’s an understandable amount of existential dread and self-doubt, but their playful charm softens the blow. When songs like “Fun Song 4” and “I Wanna Die” are also on the same album, you know you’re in for a good time.

Disq – Loneliness From the album “Collector” – out March 6th, 2020

Greetings from Chicago!

We just got back from our glorious EU/UK tour, thanks so much for coming out! We’ve got Lots of tour news to share, so we’ll get right to it.  In case you missed it, the rumors are true — we’re heading back to Australia for a headline tour next month! , we’re also going on tour with Car Seat Headrest in May and June. These dates should be big and we’re excited to get back to all these cities. we have a new video to share with you for “Unfamiliar Sun.”

“Unfamiliar Sun” is a song about navigating life while struggling with depression. It’s about trying to find beauty and love in the day to day, week to week, season to season in an otherwise ugly world. Still, it’s meant to be hopeful. Nobody is or should ever feel truly alone. We want to thank Wyatt Grant for helping visualize this song with his wonderful artwork and his genuine understanding of the messages this song attempts to convey. We would also like to thank the entire Weird Life Film Crew for once again delivering a beautiful finished product and for helping us organize and execute this little project. The world could always use more empathy, don’t be afraid to reach out to somebody you love.
