Everything But The Girl have announced ‘Blue Reservoir’, their eleventh studio album, set for release on February 19, 2027 via Buzzin’ Fly and Virgin Music Group. Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt have also shared the first single, ‘Young and Dumb’, alongside a music video directed by Edward Bishop from a treatment by the duo.

Inspired by the pair’s return to live performance in 2025, a long-running sold-out residency at Hackney’s 300-capacity MOTH Club. It moves away from the electronica of their 2023 comeback album ‘Fuse’ and leans into some of their earliest influences. “There was an intensity and simplicity to the MOTH shows that took us back to how we started out,” Thorn said. “Direct, rooted in guitar and voice, a few extra colours.”

Watt bought a Spanish nylon-string guitar in January 2026 to write and perform on. “It is the sound of so much of the music I first connected with growing up, and I’d never actually owned one,” he said. “It became quite an emotional springboard for me. I found a voice I thought I’d lost.” Nine of the ten songs were written on guitar and one on piano, with six sets of lyrics by Thorn, three by Watt and one co-write.

‘Blue Reservoir’ was recorded largely live at RAK Studios in London over ten days in July 2026, with Rex Horan on double bass and Evan Jenkins on drums. Percussion comes from Fabio de Oliveira, son of Bosco de Oliveira, who played on the duo’s 1984 debut ‘Eden’, while their son Blake Watt guests on two songs. The album was mixed by Bruno Ellingham and mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road.

The tracklist reads: ‘Forward’, ‘Scala’, ‘Young and Dumb’, ‘Do What You Can’, ‘Christmas Gone’, ‘Courage Mon Brave’, ‘The Round and Round’, ‘Fork in the Road’, ‘Good Hope’ and ‘The Great Unknown’.

‘Blue Reservoir’ the new album by Everything But The Girl is released on 19.02.27
