Singer/songwriter Hillary Capps combines thoughtful lyricism with clean, soaring vocals and catchy melodies – captivating audiences with her alluring alternative pop songs.
Capps “plays like the young vivacious New York City transplant she is” – M Music and Musicians
on the debut album The Wishing Forest. “Hillary Capps is a singer-songwriter with an arresting voice, and a sense of lyrical scope that injects her indie-pop songs with surprising weight”

A Rock & Roll band, first and last. From the mountains of Virginia in the Southern US. Led by the prolific, multi-talented wunderkind Samuel J. Lunsford. Writing, producing, and engineering their own timeless creations since 2005 in their personal analog recording studio . We’ve been away for a while. Sorry about that. We have a new album coming, we’re just running a little behind schedule. Sorry about that. Rest assured, it is coming soon. Here is the first single, “Same Old Now”:

Kelcey Ayer has been one of the vocalists and primary songwriters in the band Local Natives. Now, he’s stepping out on his own as Jaws Of Love. His debut album “Tasha Sits Close To The Piano”, named by his wife after their dog Tasha, is coming in the fall, and today he’s sharing its lead single “Jaws Of Love” which out as a solo piano ballad before gradually unfurling into floaty indie-rock grandeur. “The whole project is me trying to embrace my nuances and indulge in it,” Ayer explains. “It was such an awesome release making these songs, and that let me embrace who I feel like I am. It was wonderful to not have to explain myself to anyone. I have dark piano music in my heart and soul, and Jaws Of Love. is me at my truest

Daily Dose: BIRDS, "Scatter"

Birds are one of those bands that is nearly impossible to Google. With so many combination’s of “birds,” “birds+band,” “birds+band+brooklyn” yields any conclusive result. But once you spot these such mysterious Birds in the wild, the warmth of their swirling, chugging psych-rock counteracts the brief technological struggle.

Comprised of Duane Lauginiger (vocals, guitar), Timothy John Plunkett (drums), Jess Rees (guitar) and Jessica Reynoza (bass, vocals), the Brooklyn based band is set to release its debut album, “Eveything All At Once” due out August. 18th released on New York Greenway Records . The lead single, “Scatter,” rumbles for less than three minutes,  Reynoza’s bass line keeps everyone in line, while some effects-laden riff that sounds like a distorted electric violin sweeps overhead in between verses. It’s a perfect slice of beefy fuzz-pedal magic that sounds sloppy but is actually tight and precise.

Town Meetingis 100% committed to their live show. This is a band that is to be not only heard, but seen and experienced. They have spent countless hours both practicing and playing shows to hone in on their craft. While they sound great in a studio, to truly understand Town Meeting you must see them live. Playing primarily acoustic instruments they strive to bring the energy of rock and punk bands to a folk show.we find hope again.

The quintet is prepping their new EP Geography: Part 1 (July 28) and if this track is any indication, we should be in for intentional, relatable, and deeply inspired tracks that will help us manage through the plethora of folk pop acts.

Jennifer Pague of Vita and the Woolf has zero interest in being famous—she just wants to make music. Ironically, the music she is making is what is propelling her and bandmate, drummer Adam Shumski, into indie stardom.

The powerhouse duo has amassed thousands of followers recently and put out two stellar EPs, Fang Song and Pretty BoysAnd their newest album, Tunnelshas an energy that’s both infectious and assertive. Pague’s cutting vocal range and electro-dynamic production are full of confidence and soaring energy, while the support of Shumski’s percussion carries the EP from beginning to end.

Tunnels is for listeners of Beach House, James Blake, Future Islands, Son Lux, Sylvan Esso, St. Vincent, and FKA twigs. Jennifer Pague is not just a singer, but she also writes, records, and produce the majority of this music. I want people to know that she will appreciate every compliment they give and every criticism because that means they are at least paying attention. I have zero interest in accomplishing fame,

In this day and age, it takes a special someone to craft and perform soulful, speckled songs with a hiny of Americana crooning vocals, harmonica, and all without a lick of pretension. That special someone could be Marlon Rabenreither, a Los Angeles–based troubadour who performs under the moniker of Gold Star.

Singing with the sincerity about sleeping in train cars and on headstones—about spying on houses in canyons and escaping from Coney Island he was notably tapped by Lucinda Willams to open her recent shows. Even though he was born in Vienna, Austria, Rabenreither hits the mark when sharing anecdotes of vagabonds and deadbeats he’s met in his travels through the States.

http://

When he’s not sharing stories about strangers, Rabenreither spills his guts about his own love affairs, breakups, and what it’s like to be all by his lonesome self. “I am breaking down,” he repeats three times on the brief “Blue Sky to Blue Sky,” his voice crackling just a bit more with each refrain. The declaration is as convincing as when he begs to know “Darling, what have I done?” and professes that “It ain’t easy when you’re always on the run” elsewhere on Big Blue.

http://

Having embellished his musical performances following that previous, sparely constructed release, comparisons to The Band will abound. But Rabenreither who, mind you, is a solo artist. Does he really belongs in the company of artists like Margo Price or Sturgill Simpson on their mission to scrape the polish off mainstream country. Gold Star has the songs and the goods.

Stef Chura has spent a life moving around, but always within the state of Michigan. Having spent a number of years putting on DIY-shows, Stef is now ready to step out on her own with the release of her debut album “Messes”, which is out this month on Urinal Cake Records.

Stef Chura is one of Michigan’s DIY VIPs. The rocker has been roving across the Great Lakes State for years now, uprooting at least 20 times while coordinating underground concerts and honing her musical vision all the while. Now all that development is ready to be displayed on Messes, Chura’s full-length debut album, due out in January. That’s the cover art above by artist Molly Soda.

After sharing a video for opening track “Slow Motion” earlier , Chura returns for the album announcement today with the gleaming guitar jam “You.” The twilight-shaded alt-rock track is topped off with Chura’s striking vocal presence, each word quivering with power whether whispered, moaned, or fiercely belted out. It’s the sound of a songwriter taking familiar sounds and molding them into her own unmistakable image.

http://

Stef’s sound is an intriguing one seemingly fusing a number of genres, there’s plenty of grunge, but at times her voice seems to take on an almost country lilt, capable of sweeping emotional minimalism, and roaring energetic anger. Recent single You is a gorgeous slice of angsty college rock, bringing to mind the criminally underrated Jessica Lee Mayfield. Elsewhere on Messes, Thin is a wonderful blur of meandering guitar picking and her distinctive mid-western twang,

Spotted Gold is a jangling, bright slice of indie-pop, whilst the closing number, Speeding Ticket, is a moment of beautiful clarity, as Stef sings, “is it time to feel a real thing?”. Stef has said of the album’s title that it represents emotional messes, and having to, “do a lot of things the wrong way in order to figure out how to live my life”, she might have done a lot of things wrong, but her music career seems to be heading in completely the right direction.

Unbridled American Rock and Roll – steeped in the mythology of the legendary songwriters and the almighty groove. Biting cynicism, instant classics, rip-your-heart-out live energy, a willingness to swagger, shred hard, and live behind the beat.

After a busy 2015 that saw several festival appearances, an Alaska tour, and the release of a 7″ Vinyl, Balto has put the finishing touches on its next full length LP. Recorded over a two week period in rural Oregon, the album is a mind-bending coming of age for the band, from pensive, anxious minimalism to boozy, groovy swagger. Look for it in summer 2016.

“Balto’s new 7-inch, Call It by Its Name, is great… [it] could well be one of the best local records dropped this year.”.

Ron Gallo is a rock and roll trio lead by a tall, big-haired weirdo of the same name. As the former frontman of Toy Soldiers, Gallo spent a decade as a fixture in the burgeoning Philadelphia music scene. Now solo, Gallo is completing his second full-length record “Heavy Meta”. Embracing his love for fuzz, psych, garage, and early punk, Heavy Meta is a stark contrast to the “Harry Nilsson-meets-Father John Misty” sound of the previous record RONNY.

After undergoing a shattering year of love, loss, purging, and a musical reinvention, Gallo sought a change of scenery and a fresh start. Drawn to the rock ‘n’ roll music currently being made by his friends in back alleys of Tennessee’s “Music City,” Gallo and his very own record label American Diamond Recordings relocated to the Bordeaux neighborhood of Nashville on New Years Day 2016.

http://

Throughout his career, Toy Soldiers and solo combined, Gallo has released three full length records and three EPs working with various small independent labels in Philadelphia and New York City. He has shared the stage with legends such as Wanda Jackson, Dr. Dog, Deer Tick, Dr. John, The Walkmen, J. Roddy Walston, among others. Gallo has previously been featured among USA Today’s “Bands to Watch,” Paste Magazine’s “Philly Bands You Should Listen to NOW” and has garnered appearances on PBS SUN Studio Special, Daytrotter, Audiotree, and many more.

On stage, Gallo is a force to be reckoned with. He is a true showman with a knack for grabbing the audience’s attention and leaving them in awe. He sings his ass off and thinks it’s important to laugh at yourself.
