Lucy Rose is one of the UK’s biggest pop up-and-comers—there’s no denying that. She’s racking up millions of plays on her tracks and she’s being covered by other artists constantly, and that’s because her music is very easy to fall in love with. Now today, she’s a brand-new single to share alongside upcoming tour dates, and best of all, she’s announcing her forthcoming second album.

Lucy Rose’s past efforts (most notably, Cover Up“) have set the stage for a standout track, and that’s just what we have here with “Our Eyes”. It’s the quintessential track if you’re a pop lover, and with a high-arching chorus begging you to sing along with it, elegant arrangements, and just that extra bit of percussive punch and additional synth work, it’s more that just your typical one-dimensional pop effort. “Our Eyes” is an all-encompassing track that will please you as it did us.

“Our Eyes” will be released April 26th via Columbia Records,

This album “Long Live The Lie” is a bit of a departure from what people might be used to from Big Phony and his singer-songwriter acoustic sound. (If that’s what you’re looking for I’ve simultaneously released an album titled “BOBBY” to uphold that tradition and familiarity (if any). Please check that album out too, thanks!)
My older brothers listened heavily to 80’s new wave and that sound/genre really made an impression on me during my formative years. In early 2013, a friend of mine asked me if I could write a song in that style for a scene in an independent movie of his (“Chu & Blossom”) and so I made the song “All Bets Are Off”. I had so much fun with it that I decided I wanted to try more. I really didn’t have a set plan to attempt an album but I was having so much fun that things kind of just unfolded the way it did. That’s why I really made this album, because it was fun. I enjoyed taking a break from my normal routine of building songs mainly around lyrics and an acoustic guitar.

I started out writing all the “Long Live The Lie” songs on my laptop, really with limited knowledge of making electronic music. I asked my producer/artist friend Enik Lin (of electro pop band IAMMEDIC) for his help. He graciously agreed so I flew out to Taiwan and also Los Angeles to work with him. We transferred what I had (or what was useful) to his system and he helped bring this vision to life. For most of the songs he took the crappy beats I made and switched them out with better sounds. He also helped with making the beats and synths I had more dynamic in the arrangements by taking apart, stripping away, adding on to, and so on. On top of all that, he mixed the album as well. It was incredibly educational working with him. Such an incredible talent and true friend.

There are literally countless people I need to thank from the bottom of my heart for helping to make these albums possible. You all know who you are and I hope to repay you in being just as great to you as you’ve been to me over the years.

22 year old Australian singer-songwriter Harrison Storm has a lot going for himself. With early support from Triple J, production assistance from the highly talented and much hyped Hayden Calnin and a clear penchant for writing beautiful acoustic-folk, the future is already looking bright. Sounding a little like Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Storm’s second release “The Words You Say” is a refreshingly simple, honest and soothing number perfect for anyone enjoying a down-tempo Saturday night in.

Watch Glen Hansard and band’s live performance of Jason Molina / Songs Ohia “Hold On Magnolia.”
Glen’s tribute EP “It Was Triumph We Once Proposed … Songs Of Jason Molina” is out next Tuesday

“Hold On Magnolia” is the soul-decimating conclusion to Songs: Ohia’s Magnolia Electric Company,nd the late Jason Molina’s masterpiece of graceful desperation. It’s one of those songs that absolutely flattens you with sadness, an all-time classic in the storied history of weeping country-western laments. So I’m immensely satisfied that Glen Hansard chose to cover it on his upcoming tribute EP It Was Triumph We Once Proposed…Songs Of Jason Molina, and I’m even more satisfied that the Frames/Swell Sweason troubadour and his band do it justice in the live performance.

Mississippi’s Talbot Adams quickly follows up last year’s self-titled album with a new single on Market Square Records. Green Girl is strummed psychedelic bliss over a melodic bass line that swirls into your being like a warm summer breeze. The flip side I Love You So has a Phil Specter wall of sound that gently leans into you with its sha-la-la’s and Adams’ easy southern tenor. Pretty pop for your turntable.

Vinyl and download available from Market Square Records (or Goner if you’re in the US).

Southern roots rocker Steve Earle debuted a brand-new song from his forthcoming album, take a listen to the bluesy ‘You’re the Best Lover That I Ever Had’ .Steve Earle has been recording his upcoming album, ‘Terraplane’ — which was released February 17th supported by his backing band, the Dukes, at the House of Blues in Nashville.

“Most of this was written on the road,” Earle said . “I went through a divorce and I needed the money, so I’ve been touring a lot, just working constantly and writing whenever I can.”
“Everything that happens to me will find its way into my lyrics, which can be an advantage as a writer and a disadvantage as a person,” he said of his songwriting process. “I don’t wanna hurt anybody’s feelings. I’m not trying to be mean. But I’m not gonna not write about what’s happening, so there’s a lot of sad stuff here. It was a good time to make a blues record.”

Earle and the Dukes have taken to recording the songs live after an hour or two of practicing, giving Earle a kind of laissez-faire attitude toward recording.

“Let’s just find a performance where all the weird s–t happens at the right place, and that’s our take,” he said.

Steve Earle and company seem to effortlessly find that sweet spot, which can be heard on the new track

MITSKI – ” Townie “

Mitski’s recent “Bury Me at Make Out Creek”, showcases the singer’s ability to turn delicate indie-folk into carefree heavy rock at a moment’s notice. Her voice is both confident and sad, and her lyrics are personal and poetic — “I want a love that falls as fast as a body from the balcony,” she sings in “Townie,” “and I want a kiss like my heart is hitting the ground.”

It’s a sound that’s been a long time coming. Mitski studied composition in college and her past records have leaned more toward piano-driven, singer-songwriter tunes. She cites the international folk music her dad would play, and the Japanese pop her mom would sing to herself as inspirations, but she also draws influence from M.I.A., Mica Levi, Björk and J-pop singer Shiina Ringo, “because they all do what the fuck they want, and do it well.” She learned guitar last year, and out came “Bury Me at Make Out Creek” (“I had to make songs that would be good even when played badly,” she says). In turn, she’s been gaining critical praise and a busy performance schedule, with an upcoming tour supporting Hundred Waters and Screaming Females and another with Speedy Ortiz.

She Says: “I’d never screamed in the studio before doing ‘Drunk Walk Home,’ but it just felt right for the song. I remember I did an initial take of screams and they were pretty tame because I was shy, and then the recording engineer stood up and said, ‘Let me try,’ and did a set of screams that were better, and I was like, ‘Oh, OK fucker, watch this,’ and did the screams on the record. I’m easily coerced by competition.”

Last night, Tobias Jesso Jr. took to his debut televised performance in the least subdued circumstances possible. Performing with The Roots on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, he showcased his ‘How Could You Babe’ track in magnificent, showy gusto.
Jimmy Fallon is a massive fan. He introduced the performance by saying: “I saw this song on the internet or something, and it just blew my mind. This is one of the coolest of songs, and the newest sounds – I just loved it so much.”

he will be performing at the Green Man Festival in August 2015,

Natalie Prass is currently on tour as support with Ryan Adams, but sharing the stage each and every night for a few special performances together.  here they are together including a Ryan Adams classic “Come pick Me Up”  Natalie Prass is currently out taking over the world after her wonderful debut she is now on tour with Ryan Adams where he is covering her songs and she is singing with him.

Natalie Prass , Last month, the Southern singer-songwriter released her elaborately orchestrated, ridiculously gorgeous self-titled debut album, and it’s one of the strongest debuts we’ve heard all year. Right now, Prass is touring the UK with Ryan Adams, and Adams is obviously a fan. Last week in Brighton, Adams covered Prass’ lovely song “Your Fool.” And then a couple of nights later in Leicester, Prass joined Adams onstage and sang backup on his “Heartbreaker” classics “Oh My Sweet Carolina” and “Come Pick Me Up.” Also worth nothing Prass has recently been covering Janet Jackson’s beautiful, love-drunk 1993 single Any Time, Any Place live.
