They are here and will be out on September 9th, our new record “PEARLS TO SWINE” will be available in stores worldwide. LP and CD formats will also include a poster insert with handwritten lyrics on the reverse side. This is the new EP from singer Adam Torres for the first time in nearly a decade,  The Austin folk singer’s 2006 album Nostra Nova got a second chance thanks to a reissue, and Torres toured the country, breathing new life into the songs. The album was a quiet revelation, homespun but with a symphonic sound just a step removed from Neutral Milk Hotel’s fervent experiments

Check out “Outlands” is a deep and beautiful track, with profoundly moving lyrics that features percussionist Thor Harris on drums and Aisha Burns on violin. After putting out his cult classic debut album 10 years ago, Torres dropped out of the music industry.

Melissa Etheridge covers the Sam and Dave classic “Hold On, I’m Coming” on this special episode of Inside Tracks. There were many who were a little shocked when it was announced last week that Melissa Etheridge’s new album, Memphis Rock & Soul, would be a cover album of songs from the Stax catalog.

Those that questioned the new release were given the track Hold On, I’m Comin’ which alleviated a lot of the angst. Melissa really could transition to a 60’s soul sound.

On Friday, Etheridge kicked the challenge up a notch asking fans of soul to accept the song played solo on a twelve-string guitar and, by God, she pulled it off. This is a blistering version of the Sam and Dave classic courtesy of the Audience Network.

Jack Carty writes his songs with an honesty and mindfulness learned through the sheltered valleys and close-knit communities of a rural childhood. It’s a rare thing that has allowed the poetic Brisbane-based traveller to take his quiet truths to audiences across Australia, Europe, North America and New Zealand in the five years he has been releasing music and touring.

There’s almost something a little old fashioned about Trevor Sensor’s approach to releasing records. While most bands seem in a rush to get their debut album out into the world, Trevor is apparently more than happy to slowly drip feed his music to the masses. This week he’s confirmed details of a new 3-track EP, Starved Nights Of Saturday Stars; the follow up to his rather excellent EP from earlier this year, Texas Girls & Jesus Christ.

Trevor’s new EP will be out early next month, but this week he’s shared the first music from it with his new video, “When Tammy Spoke To Martha”. The track is an upbeat, Rock’n’Roll tinged number, Trevor’s empassioned vocal accompanied by an almost honky-tonk piano and the steady rhythm of an acoustic guitar. Like the Kyle Craft record from earlier this year, Trevor’s almost reinventing Americana into something altogether more glamorous; less fingers of whisky in dark bars and more cabaret and razzmatazz. Trevor has spoken of both a desire to be sincere in his songwriting and being as influenced by authors as he is by other musicians; so it’s perhaps no surprise he’s also branching out into writing, all vinyl copies of the EP will be accompanied by a short story, All Your Pretty Drunk Words. A fascinating artist blurring the lines between writer and musician, it’s hard to be anything other than impressed by Trevor Sensor.

Starved Nights Of Saturday Stars is out August 5th via Jagjaguwar Records. Trevor Sensor tour’s Europe next month,

Billie Marten is the musical moniker of Isabella Sophie Tweddle. originally from Ripon, North Yorkshire.

As an early teenager, she began settling on her own brand of saintly songwriting and genteel vocals, uploading tracks to YouTube and watching as the plaudits came flooding in. By the age of 15, she’d been invited to take part in two TV talent shows – both of which she’d turned down – and had her songs Ribbon and Bird played on BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music.

She’d also signed to Chess Club Records and released a flurry of folk-tinged lovelorn singles throughout 2015.

Now a spritely 17, she’s been tipped by Ed Sheeran, supported kindred spirit Lucy Rose on tour and featured on the influential 2016 BBC Sound of poll. As mad on James Blake as the sounds of PJ Harvey and Elliot Smith, her canny songwriting nous brings raw depth to her mainstream sound, guaranteeing love from all corners of the music world.

Now with latest well-received couple of EP’s and a fair few festival dates in the diary, Billie looks to be rising up the ranks at record ,Sounds like kindred spirits Laura Marling comes to mind but also for fans of Marika Hackman and Lucy Rose,

Thematically, Pain Is Beauty is said to be largely about idealistic love though Wolfe has also stated “It’s not a conceptual album. There’s a lot of different things it’s about: it’s about ancestry, it’s about nature, it’s about tormented love and sort of overcoming the odds. There’s a lot of different themes on this album.” According to Wolfe, the red dress she is wearing on the album cover represents the lava flowing from a volcano. Regarding the album title, Wolfe admitted, “…there’s always gonna be situations that we go through that are really hard and we just have to kind of be strong, and if we get through to the other side, then we become wiser people and our lives become more beautiful.  “Pain Is Beauty, her fourth album in three years, confirms her steadiness as a singer-songwriter of gothic intention, drawn to romantic fatalism and beautiful ruin.

Taken from the album “Pain Is Beauty” released September 3rd, Macabre Haunting and Beautiful, “Pain Is Beauty” is the fourth studio album from American singer-songwriter and eponymous band, Chelsea Wolfe released on September 3rd, 2013 through Sargent House Records

Best Brooklyn Albums

On Second Love Emma-Lee Moss makes soft and silvery songs about growing up. You can find her wondering at the heart of love on “Algorithm,” toying with the interconnected pull of relationships on “Social Halo,” or examining the filter of blue madness that infatuation brings on “Swimming Pool.” Moss is also a member of the Brooklyn music-writing community, bringing her expertise occasionally to this site—and others–but whether it be in music or in written word, Moss’ voice is stately, graceful and lucid. We would be wise to listen to more voices like hers on a regular basis.

Gallery 47, very much the brain child of Jack Peachey, an English graduate from the University of Nottingham currently studying for an MA in English Literature. He makes fantastic music, recently found supporting Paul Weller on European tour dates. And I think this is fantastic, I hope you agree. Gallery 47’s “It’s Been a Long Day.”

This and Suicide Handbook, among others, need to be released officially. The mix of Hammond, pedal steel and Ryan’s voice is perfect. Just a note, three of these recordings were released on the album Demolition, although possibly in slightly different mixes (Hallelujah, Desire and Chin Up Cheer Up). Batman Dan Demolition was a compilation of songs that he made during a very prolific period in his career. He had multiple albums that he recorded and wanted to release as a box set. His label said no and scaled down some of the choice songs from across those albums and made Demolition. This is one of those unreleased albums from that period.
