the new track from Swervedriver is a little more grungy but with great duelling guitars,
It’s been a long time coming — seventeen years long, to be precise — but on March 6th, Swervedriver are ready to release a brand new album, I Wasn’t Born To Lose You, marking the shoegaze vets’ first full-length record since 1998’s 99th Dream.

The question isn’t so much why the wait, after all, as the band was broken up and had been silent for almost ten years before reconvening around 2007. Reunion tours do strange things to bands: they either revive old battles or, as in this case, remind them of great musical bonds. Still, a new album was a subject Swervedriver approached cautiously.

Leicester duo now based in London Lusts, who are comprised of siblings Andy and James Stone—have a sound lost in the hazy reverb of the late 80’s and early 90s.  Their music is a bit reminiscent of  Jesus and The Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Ride coaxed into a delirious three way. If this were 25 years ago, they would have to have been signed to Creation Records!  Be sure to check out their new track “Mouthwash” with its swashes of shoegaze infused pop and reverb-laced guitar licks on ‘Mouthwash’ leaving you’re ears to soak in its atmospheric landscape. the band recently supported Coves.

Contrast are from Melbourne and describe themselves as ‘a coupla blokes who like skateboarding and local music’. Of course. But as bored as you might be with all the ‘regular guy’ modesty going around at the moment, these dudes are making music that’s interesting enough to reveal actual underlying ambition and talent.

Listening to their new EP, Less Than Zero, you’d believe they were the latest English buzz band: a bit shoegaze-y, kind of punk, with smart lyrics and delivery that effortlessly transitions from snide to sincere. There’s Primary Coloursera Horrors in the expansive intros and atmospherics, echoes of Major Leagues in the sweetness of the guitar lines and apathetic vocals, and of course all the usual ‘80s shoegaze references – but with enough of their own pop smarts that it’s hard to care much about who’s done it before.

With their third album, “Hyperview”, 12-year-old melodic hardcore outfit Title Fight finally consummated their slow-burning flirtation with shoegaze. If the band’s older, more aggro songs were steeped in the blood and sweat of full-contact battle, their latest tunes are punch-drunk post-victory fever dreams, awash in gauzy, lens-flaring guitars and drifting, detached vocals. Everyone from NPR and Vogue to Pitchfork and NME has showered the evolutionary leap with praise, and now Title Fight get to celebrate a big win with dynamic live shows that could define the phrase “study in contrasts.”

Title Fight is an American punk rock band from Kingston, Pennsylvania, United States, formed in 2003. They signed to Anti- Records in July of 2014.

The Black Ryder are Los Angeles based ex Aussies Scott Von Ryper and Aimee Nash with a heavy shoegaze sound, their debut album in 2009 “Buy The Ticket Take The Ride” received lots of critical praise the band are back with a new album about to be released, this is the first single “Santaria” which features an ethereal drone and pounding drums building something sublime to a overwheming wave of gorgeous noise,

New Candys first featured  on The Reverb Conspiracy Vol. 3 back in January, describing their stand out track as follows, “Dysfunctional trip, ‘Meltdown Corp’ by New Candys from Venezia, conjures gorgeously dislocated, psych-soaked abyssal plains.”

I also wholeheartedly concurred with Levitation’s review of the same LP which stated, “Their song ‘Meltdown Corp’ it’s an absolutely jaw dropping track. In fact, I had not heard of them until this, and I was online ordering their album before the song was even over. And then I played the song again. And again.”

I too had ordered their brilliant 2012 debut LP Stars Reach The Abyss‘, along with the exquisite split EP ‘Dark Love / Surf 2‘, (with Treviso’s Kill Your Boyfriend), before I had finished listening to ‘Meltdown Corp’, such was their tentacled embrace on my enraptured psyche.

“New Candys’ chemical recipe verge more on a psychedelic drift, like their beautiful LP ‘Stars Reach The Abyss’ showed a couple of years ago. Hypnotic and sedated with ‘Dark Love’, faster and acid pop garage with ‘Surf 2’. The quartet know how to write a song and keep the good vibe on, wisely dosing vintage and ideas.” .
“Dysfunctional trip, ‘Meltdown Corp’ by New Candys from Venezia, conjures gorgeously dislocated, psych-soaked abyssal plains.” The band are Stefano Bidoggia: bass, organ. Dario Lucchesi: drums, percussion. Diego Menegaldo: guitars, vocals. Fernando Nuti: guitars, sitar, vocals.

Shelflife Records presents the release of the Melbourne shoegaze/psych outfit Flyying Colours this track “Not Today” remix taken from the self-titled 5-track EP
True to their name, Flyying Colours unashamedly display their influences in this debut: tone bending MBV/Swervedriver guitars, Ride’s bass hooks and the familiar soft hush of early 90s male/female vocals. Add to that their own edgy, refreshing pop-mindedness and it makes for five completely brilliant tracks.

The EP includes pile-driving single “Wavygravy”, a layered noise anthem jumped on by national radio and the international shoegaze blogosphere on its Oz release last April. Other stand out tracks are psych-rock opener “Like You Said”, “Feathers” with its chorus-y jangle and lush vocals and the cool-down of closing track “Bugs.”

Formed in 2011, Flyying Colours is Brodie J Brümmer (vox/Guitar), Gemma O’Connor (vox/Guitar) and the drums & bass of brothers Sam and Joshua Dawes. Before “Wavygravy” they received a lot of attention for their explosive live shows, setting them well apart from others occupying Melbourne’s growing 90s/shoegaze scene. Flyying Colours have just completed an Australian tour and are currently recording tracks for their debut album.

“Spectral,Shoegazey Magical Sounds” the band Tape Runs Out release ‘Friends’ due out on the 30.03.2015 on Ear to Ear Records

“A perfect introduction to new and unseen places in the sonic universe!” – Producer Marc Joy (Mike Peters, Golden Fable, Bernard Butler)
Ear to Ear Records presents the debut single from Cambridge indie pop rock outfit  For fans of: The Radio Dept., Yuck, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Alvvays, Mogwai
Release Date: March 30th, 2015 on Ear To Ear Records who will release their debut double A-side single ‘Friends’ The band’s debut LP is expected in autumn 2015.

Tape Runs Out unashamedly display their edgy, refreshing pop-mindedness in these two tracks, with a potent elixir of guitars, hooks and the familiar soft hush of early 90s male vocals. This release includes the hallmark “Friends”, a layered jangle anthem sure to inspire dreaming and gazing, and the stand-out track “Flowers” is reminiscent of ‘Rock Action’ era Mogwai on ecstacy with a remarkable Cure-laced cool-down effect.
Tape Runs Out: One of the most exciting bands to come out of Cambridge in recent times, Tape Runs Out have being enthralling audiences around England for the past couple of years. Although they have been variously described as indie, shoegaze, dream pop and electronica but they certainly borrow elements from these genres, they have carved out their own sound by blending cleverly crafted melodies, melancholic ambience and dreamy reverb-tinged rhythms. Headed by Liam Goodrum-Bell, Tape Runs Out’s music is infectious with a modern and unique twist, bucking stereotypical trends with songs to be savored by those who like to ‘feel’ and absorb the music, as well as the most intricate and scrupulous music lovers.
