Norwegian singer/songwriter Susanne Sundfør’s music packs quite the epic, emotional punch—imagine the sweeping teenage grandeur of M83 mixed with Zola Jesus‘ throaty electro-goth—and new song “Delirious” certainly speaks to her powers, with machine-gun drums and synths that sound so burly that they should be tested for creative use. The track’s from her new album, “Ten Love Songs”, which will see release in February via Sonnet Sound/Kobalt Records.”I wanted to write a cinematic song about love and power,” Sundfør “It started off with just the beat and bass and as I developed it I added the strings and more and more vocal arrangements, until I felt the message was clear enough.”

Up-and-coming Norwegian artist Anna of the North made a swift impact earlier this year with downbeat, pensive pop track “Sway”, its sparkly instrumental and echoed Scandi-accented vocals earning her dedicated listeners from the offset. Anna’s vocals, each line punctuated with a shortness, the syllables swirling in echoes over a gradually swelling grainy synth drone.

new album Due February 2015, My first encounter with the wonderful and enchanting universe of Miss Sundfør was when I heard White Foxes, the first single to be taken off her brilliant album, The Silicone Veil.
On hearing the first minute or so of the track, I got exactly the same sparkling sensation as when, back in 1978, I first heard Wuthering Heights by the (equally) fabulous Kate Bush. This is the kind of sensation that you might experience, when you witness something that has a profound impact on you,  I was caught completely off guard and listened with all my senses wide open in a state of equal amounts of disbelief and sheer delight. This was by far the best first single off an album that I have heard for a long time!
Indeed, Miss Sundfør has some of the same qualities as the legendary Kate Bush, in that her music defies categorisation, and that she as an artist clearly does not accept to make compromises when it comes to conveying her ideas, emotions, or presence through her art.
Susanne Sundfør is blessed with a rare gift in having amazing song-writing skills as well as a flair for slightly odd, but interesting arrangements, mostly rich in atmosphere, and also in being an authentic story-teller with quite a lot on her mind to convey. Her voice is a very delicate and sophisticated instrument in itself. Her vocal register is out of this world, and the seemingly effortless manner in which she is capable of mastering the modulation of every note that she sings is nothing short of impressive.
I later realized that I got acquainted with her music in the reverse order. First, I got into the more elaborate arrangements and sophisticated production of her recent albums, The Brothel and The Silocone Veil, and was blown away.

A Thousand Half Truths is technically Norwegian Indie-Poppers Making Marks debut album, although in their previous guise as My Little Pony they did release two albums, which might go some way to explaining how professional and delightful this album is!

Country-infused Indie-Pop that touches on the back catalogue of both Camera Obscura and fellow Scandinavian Jens Lekman. They certainly share Jens sense of humour, their grasp of wit in their non-native tongue is both impressive and a touch embarrassing for us useless English folk!

Their music goes from sprightly-catchy pop tracks like Ticket Machine and Bruises to slower more whistful songs such as Barcodes and Like Spinning, but best of all is the stunning closing track, Flying High Forever, a thrilling reminder of the power of gorgeous harmonies, jangling electric guitars and a tonne of melodies!

Aurora Aksnes might be just 18 years old but she writes with the maturity of someone twice her age. Hailing from Bergen, Norway, the promising new artist has already signed to Glassnote Records (Chvrches, Childish Gambino) and caused some healthy stir on the web.

New track “Under Stars” is a more brisk and bold affair than her first effort, “Awakening”. This time, she unwittingly pulls reference to another ‘A’ soloist, Austra, at the song’s opening with beautifully shrill vocals and tech-laced synths. Weathered drums and classy harmonic loops erupt at the precipice then her clean-cut vocals.

After the demise of PORT O’BRIEN founding member and frontman Van Pierszarowski moved to Oslo Norway, spent his time swimming in Fiords enjoying the change of seasons and the cold and making some music, he then went travelling in Alaska worked a season on his fathers salmon fishing boat before moving back across the states firstly to Brooklyn New York and then some time in california before missing the fiords of Norway once more there he picked up a band of Norwegians  bringing them back to the states to record an album, the sound was slightly more stark more emotional and more aggressive with crashing drums and fuzzy guitars.
