The Dandelion weave an old kind of magic. Their own mix of musical spells are not unlike those woven in the 1960’s. With asound like seeds turning into flowers they bring gifts for the Goddess of magical powers.

The Dandelion’s debut 2013 release “Strange Case Of The Dandelion” a 13 track album of Musical Spells.

The Dandelion weave an old kind of magic. A mix of musical spells not unlike those woven in the 1960’s. Considering the strange case of The Dandelion is made all the more strange given that the name of their debut disc is The Strange Case of The Dandelion,” and the strangest thing happened when we fell instantaneously in love with their songs.

It’s not that the music planted by The Dandelion is so strange – in many ways, it strikes our ears not as not nearly as strange as it is comforting, familiar even. Which in itself is very, very strange. Throughout “The Strange Case,” and beginning with the lead-off mood-setter “Strange Case Opening,” And hooks. So many hooks. Those sing-able, hummable, memorable hooks. We love hooks.

In just under thirty-six minutes, these thirteen tales of Australian bohemia never overstay their welcome, which lends to repeat multiple listens, or perhaps multiple repeat listens. Whatever the case – we’re madly in love with these songs.

Sydney neo-psychedelic outfit The Laurels have just dropped the newest track “Zodiac K” straight off their upcoming second album . The latest song sees the band team up with the Aussie band Decoder Ring‘s member Jasper Fenton, who provides drums in the catchy tune.

While fans eagerly await new material from the four-piece band, they will delighted to hear the boys will be hitting the road this August for a co-headline tour with frontman of fellow psychedelic act, PondNicholas Allbrook.

Reminds me of one of the first psych bands I loved,  this has a better twist, love these dudes definatly my favorite track is “Buchanan Hammer”It’s no secret that ‘Australian music is booming right now and especially on the garage front. Ramshackle mind-obliterating LP’s have been released recently from the likes of The Frowning Clouds, Straight Arrows and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard seem to pop up with a new album every few months . But there’s a new contendor in the ring, and thats Los Tones, they’re from Sydney, get around ’em quick smart, because these guys are going to be doing a little bit of alright in the next few years, especially if they can maintain the momentum of their debut album.

‘Psychotropic’ is a record with serious brawl, thudding bass lines intermingling with 60’s guitars at a dangerous pace. It’s surf rock placed in a criminal context. It’s slightly deranged, a little bit psychotic, but very, very fun.

Really diggin’ the retro vibes and backed up by real quality songs. Its Heavy, Catchy. Makes you want to move. This is the type of Garage Rock psychedelic I like . Very much in the Alah La’s territory Psychotropic is the debut album by Sydney band the Los Tones, released 01 October 2014

This record thrives on the freak-outs, of which there are plenty.  everyone’s going to have a favourite, and my personal heartbreaker is the melting guitar solos and organ inflections of “Cry”.  Some of you might like the tingling pelvis swaying in “Buchanan Hammer”, others can live off the rapid-fire boogie  of “Waste of Space”, a track that takes Drunk Mums’ depraved excitement and injects it with the soundtrack from a Quentin Tarantino film.

This is a rock ‘n’ roll record, through and through. Every moment is scorched in blazing hot guitar, the entrails of all other genres laid bare in the wake of this destructive album. Some might say that there could be a lack of diversity, but instead of that, I view it as a lack of spreading the energy. The closest thing that Los Tones get to an “average” pace is the charming and snarling “Ordinary Man”, which is still quite the bombast.

To make some coin while on our 2015 Brazil/Euro tour we will be releasing a limited pressing Tour 7″, with an unreleased track, Witch Hazel. Stay tuned for more details, but will be putting up a small number for pre-sale.

Considering the response newcomers Glades have received in just the last days to this, their debut track, ‘Falling Away’, released on July 28th, you can sense that this is a trio we will be hearing a lot more of in the future.

GLADES is the the trio project of Sydney based musicians Karina, Cam and Joey, making their debut in mid 2015 with their single ‘Falling Away’. The trio met in high school and are passionate about combining the melodic intricacy of Indie, with the catchiness of Pop; from the reverb-laden guitars of The xx to the synthscapes of CHVRCHES and the beats of Lorde

Citing the likes of other bands like Broods and London Grammar as influences, it’s very much the style they – Karina Wykes (18), vocals; Joseph Wenceslao (19), guitar / synth; Cameron Robertson (20), guitar / synth / production – have put their own spin on.
Combining large amounts of synth-textured atmospheric melody with expansive electronic production, layered guitars play below the undoubted winning component of 18-year-old Karina’s effectively memorable vocal.

Tommy, Mason & Johnny. are the DMA’S (dee-em-ayes) full names Johnny Took, Matt Mason and Tommy O’Dell – three friends who came together making nostalgic garage pop in a bedroom in Newtown. Sydney Australia

Having met whilst playing in other bands, DMA’S are three writers, three mates, three frontmen – all with a common sense of purpose and musicality. Writing a few songs together, the band demoed them in Johnny’s bedroom-studio, gaining instant attention – all before putting out an official track or playing a single show.

After signing with tastemaker label I OH YOU, DMA’S released their debut single ‘Delete’ to rave reviews, with Channel V calling the band “the next big thing”, and Triple J adding the track to high rotation.

With NME picking them as a buzz band to watch, Blur’s Dave Rowntree naming ‘Delete’ his Record of the Week on XFM, and the band selling out their first national tour – DMA’S have gone from strength to strength. DMA’S debut mini-album out May 18th (UK) / May 19th (US). Touring UK / EU / US in May & June 2015.

DMA’s
Show: Corn Exchange 15th May 11pm (NME show)
It’s been years since I’ve seen an indie band divide people like DMA’s do. Defiantly influenced by Britpop – from their Kappa hats to their choruses – the Australian band were a big hit at CMJ last year. Since then they’ve supported The Courteeners and collected their various recordings into one batch to be released on their new label Infectious (Alt J, These New Puritans).

Sydney Band The Preatures have enjoyed 2014 immensly, touring through out Europe and the USA playing at SXSW in Austin, Glastonbury and Bonnaroo Coachella Festivals then the Jimmy Kimmel TV appearance and having a huge hit with the song “Is This How You Feel” the track “Somebody’s Talking” is the first single off the new album “Planet Blue Eyes” with a great frontwoman and vocalist in Isabelli Manfredi its a dancable song with a great chorus,
Tipped by Anton Newcombe, Brian Jonestown Massacre: “I caught The Preatures’ set at Glastonbury last year, and noticed Isabella Manfredi, their singer really going for it like only an amazing performer does. They work very hard and it’s interesting to watch them apply that energy to getting out there globally.”

Speedboat is the second single off Los Tones debut album “Psychotropic” released last October 2014 though

Psychotropic  Los Tones debut album, released on Vinyl through Portuguese garage label Groovie Records & CD through Off The Hip Records, Melbourne. Mixed and produced by Owen Penglis of Straight Arrows in only a few days out of Owen’s Kings Cross studio & mastered by Mikey Young of Eddy Current Suppression Ring. The record sees the boys continue their garage rock calamity with some subtle hints of early psychedelia & surf rock. Psychotropic features Los Tones debut single “Buchanan Hammer” and also its follow up “Ordinary Man”. We are now psyched to release the title track off the record “Psychotropic”.

Los Tones formed in early 2013 from the ashes of Sydney bands, Mother & Son, La Mancha Negra & Glitter Canyon. All 4 members have similar influences spanning from early 50’s RNB, 60’s guitar rock, to modern outfits such as The Black Lips & Night Beats.

LOS TONES - Psychotropic - GROO046LP COLOR LIMITED EDITION - SOLD OUT!!!

Psychotropic takes the listener on a short flashback in time, a fast-paced slathering of guitar driven garage gems. Their previous song releases have had plenty of air play in Australia on Triple J & Fbi Radio, as well as overseas, which has resulted in the band opening for acts such as Guitar Wolf (Japan), Los Coronas (Spain), Night Beats (USA), Mark BBQ Sultan(CAN). They will be launching the record with a month-long European tour throughout October, ending with a hometown Sydney Launch on Halloween Eve.

She writes, records and produces her own music, not to mention is a classically trained violinist in her final year at Sydney’s coveted Conservatorium High School. As if that alone isn’t enough talent for a seventeen-year-old, Australian polymath Lupa J also directs, films and edits her own videos, including this clip for the haunting “Waiting for You.” Featuring a dancer convulsing around ill-lit streets while a veil conceals her face, the dark aesthetic of the video matches the dark sound that Lupa seems intent on exploring .

The Dandelion are a psychedelica band from Sydney AustraliaThe Dandelion is lead by transexual woman Danatalia de Silver who began her life/musical career as Daniel Poulter aka Daniel Darling and lead previous groups such as The Dolly Rocker Movement and Kill City Creeps.
She recorded the first Dandelion album titled “Strange Case of The Dandelion” (2013) entirely on her own and it was originally intended to be just a solo/studio project. An offer came along in early 2014 to support long-time friends The Frowning Clouds and this enticed Danatalia to get a group together and start performing again.
The first line up of The Dandelion included Stella Rennex on Bass, Alison Hobbes on Organ and Joshua White on Drums.
The music is an old kind of magic. A mix of musical spells not unlike those woven in the 1960’s.
