Hammersmith Odeon, London ’75 is both a concert video and the fourth live album by Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, released in 2006. It is a full-length recording of their performance on 18 November 1975 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London, during their Born to Run tours. It was first released as a DVD on November 14, 2005 as part of the Born to Run 30th Anniversary Edition package, and then several months later on February 28, 2006 released as an audio CD.
The concert was part of Columbia Records’ push to promote Springsteen in the UK and Europe following the success of the Born to Run album in the US. The large amount of publicity accompanying these appearances, especially the one in London, famously caused Springsteen to react badly and furiously run about pulling down promotional posters proclaiming “Finally London is ready for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band.”

This performance marked the European concert debut of Springsteen and the E Street Band, kicking off a four-date mini tour which also featured shows in Stockholm, Sweden and Amsterdam, Holland, as well as a second concert at the Hammersmith Odeon on November 24 that was added due to the huge ticket demand for the first London gig.

In the liner notes, Springsteen himself writes that after the show had been recorded, “I’d paid no attention to it. I never looked at it … for 30 years.” After the Rising tour, he had an inkling to dig into film of the early part of his career, the vast majority of which remained “a blank spot,” with little or nothing ever released. He found the film and the 24-track audio recordings. The two-and-a-half-hour concert film was spliced together from 32 reels of silent 16-mm footage, digitally restored frame by frame in a painstaking process that took editor Thom Zimny a full year to complete. Bob Clearmountain, a veteran of several Springsteen projects, mixed the audio for the CD and film.Actor, writer and Monty Python member Michael Palin was in attendance and devoted an entire diary entry (Tuesday, November 18th, 1975) to the concert and his first impression of Springsteen and the band. He notes that the hype by CBS Records was met with a certain skepticism by the ticket-buying public. He notes that the concert did not start until 45 minutes after the scheduled start time, that the PA system made it difficult for him to make out the lyrics, but the band and The Boss “kept the evening alive — and he did three encores.”

Port Isla, ‘In The Long Run’ new EP is out November 23rd  frontman Will Bloomfield says about the song “Its the case with a lot of things, I tend to find that the best songs are those that drop into your head out of nowhere,”

“The melody for ‘In The Long Run’ came to me when I was mowing the lawn,” he continues. Having formed almost four years ago while studying at the University of East Anglia, their self-released debut EP ‘Steamroller’ earned the band a support slot with George Ezra on his sold-out UK tour, and a deal with legendary record label Parlophone. Next up for the foursome is the new EP, ‘In The Long Run’, released November 23rd.

“Having spent so long doing everything ourselves, we were a little worried that we’d lose some control with a major label on board,” says Bloomfield of his new colleagues. “But it’s been the exact opposite. They were super supportive and kind of just left us to it, and even let us continue to design the artwork. I saw a physical copy of the EP yesterday and had a little moment when I saw our name next to the Parlophone logo. It’s mental.”

The EP was recorded in a variety of settings, taking in sessions at the band’s rehearsal space beneath a tube line and by the sea in Bloomfield’s Suffolk hometown, featuring help from friends Chris Denman and producer Charlie Hugall. “When Charlie mentioned Dirty Projectors and Beyoncé in the same sentence, we knew he was our man.” Currently on tour as support for James Bay, no debut album plans have been confirmed, although the four has been working towards an LP release for the past three years.

“We constantly strive to write better songs, so we’ll just have to wait and see! All we know is that we want to get a lot more touring under our belts before we put it out. You can expect some big songs with plenty of colour and variety. We just want to put out the best collection of songs we can.”

While the album remains incomplete, the band is set to return to the studio, again with Hugall, before the year is out, to work upon a third EP.

Close on the heels of Happyness as a “best of CMJ music festival” is Cymbals, they always deliver an exhilarating set,  recently gleaned mostly from their excellent second album, The Age of Fracture. There’s a streak of New Order’s vim and velocity that blows through Cymbals’ dystopian, fluid dance rock, but the London quartet brings other hues to their visceral set. Fantastic … even if they

Yet another fairly mysterious band fronted by a siren voiced female, making slow-building, haunting pop music,  London band Vaults. Like some sort of musical circle of life, as London Grammar released their world acclaimed debut album and still riding high,  but Vaults drop their spine-tingling next song ” Poison”  that suggests a bright future could be ahead for the currently unknown band. The band have a  magical quality, and a powerful mid-section giving the lead singer a chance to show off her powerful vocals,

With echoes of Haim, somebody order a British Haim? Well, that’s what we’ve got. Meet Jagaara, three sisters from Finchley in London – not to be confused with the folkier equivalent The Staves, who are three sisters from Watford. , whereas Jagaara  these  are more Fleetwood Mac than Joni Mitchell. They share managers with Foals and Peace, and although they are as yet unsigned, there is a lot of A&R interest, and you can see why: they play classic west coast pop in an even more unreconstructed way than Haim, minus the overt nods to R&B, although there’s a knowingness to their nostalgia that elevates them above tribute-band status. They’re the girls of summer and beyond.

The likes of Johnny Marr of The Smiths, John Squire of The Stone Roses and Mick Jones of The Clash (who recently filmed Tom performing on his phone) have since signed his guitar in support of his push, and it seems there is now a lot of anticipation in hearing Tom’s first releases. Tom is a grafter, with a steel determination to succeed and a fantastic, strong, unique voice. His songs are quirky, catchy and commercial with a real raw and witty lyrical edge to them.

Years & Years are a London based electro-pop trio signed to Polydor Records. Current members are frontman and keyboardist Olly Alexander, bassist Mikey Goldsworthy and synth player/beat-maker Emre Turkmen.
Years & Years formed in 2010, after Mickey moved from Australia and met Emre online through ‘findabandmate.com’. Shortly afterwards, Olly joined the band as lead vocalist after guitarist Mikey heard him singing in the shower. Alongside 90s R&B, the band cite Flying Lotus, Diplo, Radiohead and Jai Paul as core influences, describing their sound as ‘dance music with heart’.
The band released their debut single,I Wish I Knew in the summer of 2012 through the label Good Bait. Their follow up single in September 2013 was picked up by Kitsuné Records with critical acclaim from The Guardian, Clash Music and The Fader.

Brighton/London four piece Hella Better Dancer have been making dreamy, lo-fi guitar pop in their bedrooms for a few years. “Sleeptalking” sounds like a band ready to flock the nest. Perhaps it’s the prickly guitar solo and half-shouted harmonies that’s allowed the band to take on a more immediate personality and weighty reverb and shaded vocals Maybe it’s the band’s adoption of Norwegian songstress Farao last year as their drummer .Whatever the reason, “Sleeptalking” is a sure-fire step in the right direction. It doesn’t shed the band’s hallmark spacious sound nor is it a simple repetition of their previous efforts.

The self-produced/recorded single is out now.Record Label Beautiful Strange will release “Sleeptalking” on limited 7″ vinyl on 11 November.

They’ve been steadily building up a name over the past months since they first started creating ripples late last year. Beginning with the enticing sounds of their first single ‘Swell’, followed by some explosive live shows, now London four-piece Storms look set to kick up the proverbial storm to end one year with, and surely go into 2015 as a cert for the ‘hotly tipped’ lists.
Setting tinges of 90s shoegaze against grunge rock, after what was the heavy slice of ‘Swell’, came the riff-rich ‘Undress’ with its compelling chorus, was enough to fire up the Storms furnace to fever pitch.
