“We really wanted to do a fun sounding song and video for our newest release, we wanted to show a different side to the band our sound and our influences,” guitarist Liam Wade. “This song actually started with me tinkering on an old synth and the song came together really quickly. We didn’t want to lose that initial spark that we got with the synth demo just because it was a bit different to our other releases so we developed the song around that. We were definitely listening to a lot of Michael Jackson/ Quincy Jones at the time!”

This is one of the first glimpses into their forthcoming debut album, which is due out sometime this year. “Our album is quite varied sonically as we wanted an album where each song had its own character. No two are the same,” they explain. “The thing that make all the songs gel so well all is its obviously all the same musicians and studio production but as soon Danielle’s vocal goes on you know it’s a FURS song. We can’t wait for people to hear our album!”

Regarding the track’s video, which was directed by Libby Burke Wilde, they claim they’d “never done any sort of dance moves before… so it was a new experience and it was really fun. It complements the song so well, with a nod to the early ’80s synth pop era.”

Alpine are an Australian indie pop band from Melbourne, Forming in 2009, they were originally known as Swiss before deciding to change their name on account of a similar-sounding Australian band, The Swiss. As Alpine, they released their debut EP “Zurich” in 2010 and their debut album “A Is for Alpine” in Australia in 2012 . The album’s second single, “Gasoline,” was released in July 2012. described as an “unforgettably light and charismatic gem. Alpine were nominated for “Best Breakthrough Artist  in 2013. the band are just about to set on tour again in mid February 2015

Surfer Blood have circulated a new song “The Grand Inquisitor,” alongside news that they’ll release their third album, “1000 Palms”, on  Fierce Panda Records on 11th May in UK/Europe. Well it seems they’re feeling rather generous post-V Day because below is the premiere of their second cut from the record. Below is “Dorian,” a song singer John Paul Pitts says “embraces the anything goes spirit this record represents.”

It’s classic why-we-liked-them-in-the-first-place Surfer Blood all swoony, plush harmonies, rudimentary drums, and skippy sounding guitars. But there’s a newly felt sophistication in its simplicity too. No standing behind fuzzy effects here; this is clean and deftly delivered.
“This song has everything from classic 80s synth patches to fucked-up vocoder sound collages, embracing a series of left-turns that make it one of the most unique songs in our catalogue,” Pitts continues. “It makes use of almost every sonic element we had available.”
For “1000 Palms” the guys did the back to basics, we were burned by the major label experience thing: they returned to Florida to self-record and produce the entirety of the album. It seems the change of pace (and space) suits them.

“The Grand Inquisitor” was quietly released to Joyful Noise VIP Members on 541 “Lathe-Cut CDs”, which double as 5” records that will play both on a turntable and a computer.

Sundara Karma are sharing new track as a taster for their new and forthcoming release of their new EP.

This tune sees the Reading-based teens blend gigantic space-pop motifs, tsunamis of reverb and fuzzy rock twangs to create a beguiling piece of noise; it’s the kind of mid-afternoon festival bait that’ll have cider-soaked punters bouncing like kangaroos.

2015 has so far seen them play with Alvvays and Darlia, and their first short-player EPI is released on 23rd February via 203 Recordings – the year’s got off to a great start, and it’s only going to be getting better for this quartet.

Packed with nostalgia and an endlessly appealing 90s vibe, ‘Laserbeam’, the latest track from Brighton indie pop trio Phantom Runners, is the kind of track that makes you feel like you’re hazily floating through the sky in a state of bliss; exploring that every morning sunrise with an evening full of great memories replaying in your head.

Having enlisted the help of Fun Lovin’ Criminals’ Huey Morgan, ‘Laserbeam’ is a carefree gem that’s even more exemplified by Phantom Runners’ laid back songwriting process in which they just let the song come to them and then tidy it all up later.
The end result is a track that glides through with sunny guitar melodies and loose percussion and feels almost like 90s Ash at their most laid back. It’s a track that’s in no rush to go anywhere; meandering about, content in exploring these memories and just soaking in the atmosphere.

Dutch Uncles will release their fourth studio LP, “O Shudder”, at the end of the month, and we’ve already heard three of the record’s songs, “Drips,” “Decided Knowledge,” and “In N Out.” Today, the Manchester-based band dropped a fourth single, which means that we will have heard nearly half of the 11-track album prior to its release date. “Be Right Back” is both fidgety and soulful, and its crowning moment arrives about a minute in when lead vocalist Duncan Wallis yelps the word “escalator.” The way he emphasizes the first “e” is inexplicably satisfying.

In 2013, Joe Haller and Chris Duran self-produced and recorded a three-song demo in their apartment in downtown Philly under the name Cheerleader. To their surprise, the release of that three-song demo on SoundCloud led to features in NME and Nylon, some radio play, and a slew of SxSW invitations. Doors were opening quickly, but the duo was suddenly faced with the technical challenges of recreating their music live with only two members.
After a gig in New York, one of the first that Cheerleader played as a five piece, they were approached by Mark Needham, who invited them to record with him in Los Angeles. Haller and Duran were at first overwhelmed by the absurdity of the situation. “All of a sudden, we’re in New York having dinner with this guy who has mixed some of the biggest rock records of the past decade, and he’s talking to us about the lo-fi songs we recorded in our apartment at 3 am in the morning.

This St. Louis indie-pop/garage duo formed in 2008 and they released their sophomore album in January via Euclid Records. They received high praise for the new record and there were regular comparisons to Best Coast. I guess because they’re also a duo. They say that their influences vary from Pavement to The Ramones to 1940s movie musicals. The song here also makes it clear that they take some cues from 1960s girl groups and the Phil Specter wall of sound as well as the catalog of Miss Frankie Rose.
