Danish alternative giants Mew have unveiled the lead track from their first album in six years.

‘Satellites’ is a sweeping, gorgeous number that previews ‘+-‘, the follow-up to 2009 LP ‘No More Stories…’.

The new album – out 27th April – is set to feature guest contributions from Russell Lisack (Bloc Party), with recording beginning in May last year, in Copenhagen. It’ll be the band’s first LP since finishing a deal with SONY, this being an independent release. Mew and Michael Beinhorn produce the album, with Rich Costey on mixing duties. Alongside the new track, Mew have also announced European dates.

thefelines

The Felines are a Doo-Wop Surf Pop Rock band From Copenhagen, Denmark, formed in 2010 they Sound Like The Cramps doing a Beach Boys tribute with an extra aloof Francoise Hardy on vocals.
Recent and deserving inductees to the Copenhagen chapter of the League of Extraordinarily Cool Girl Bands, the Felines are like a fully fueled hair flip. Seriously, don’t let the doo-wop descriptor so many blogs and magazines are using fool you. More often than not, the trio dials it down to an eerie, bare-bones saunter — before suddenly amping up and layering in for a thicker sound before they smoothly fade out. If the long buildups weren’t so nonchalantly catchy, the quickness of those great heights would seem pretty tragic.

Four years and two EPs in, bassist Asta Louisa Bjerre, guitarist Ditte Melgaard and drummer Mei Long Bao have finally wrapped up their first proper full-length release “Want”, released through German imprint Soundflat Records, same as its predecessors. This debut LP, however, is also being issued on tape through the US of A’s Burger Records basically, considering that imprint’s current representation and prestige, they’re about to be everyone’s new favorite band.
Even if that’s a bit presumptuous, it’s probable that even rock ‘n’ rollers who aren’t part of the Burger cult will succumb to the allure of The Felines’ spooky, coyly snarling vibe. The blasé badass feel is totally unrelenting throughout the album’s entirety. the band transforms familiar surf and ’60s girl group motifs into a sound that’s fresh, yet magnificently rotten. The lethargic pace and withdrawn sounding vocals make a near mockery of the easy melodies. It’s like that standoffish and mean but undeniably cool acquaintance you should hate, but you just can’t. They’re just too damn cool.

There’s a reason that the spirit of ’60s and ’70s psychedelia is alive and well across multiple contemporary music scenes today. It’s music that’s practically unparalleled not only for its embodiment of freedom and youth, yet also for its painstaking attention to a musician’s craftsmanship and skill. Perhaps this is why The Wands are often called revivalists: they seamlessly project the infectious spirit of the ’60s and ’70s.
The Wands are a Danish duo composed of lifelong friends, Christian Skibdal and Mads Gräs. The Danish part is more than just a marker of their national identities: it’s an indication of the unique niche they’ve carved out for themselves within the Scandinavian psych scene. In this scene, you have neo-psych bands, and then you have The Wands a band that is truly psychedelic, precisely in the way it was meant to be in the ’60s and ’70s. This in The Wands’ ability to simultaneously conjure acidly, hazy soundscapes and straight up classic rock ’n roll, that swells with sound exhilarating rich and expansive, yet also highlights the distinct authenticity and human quality of the vocals and the instruments.

The Wands are a psychedelic rock band from Copenhagen Denmark with a new self titled album out November 3rd they are playing the Jam Cafe in Nottingham on November 10th , best described as Psychedelic Post Punk Rock with Sitar and harmonica members Christian Skibdal and Mads Gras, with British Music playing a huge part in their influences and inspiration signed to Fuzz Records. its been two years since the initial EP “Hello I Know The Blow You Grow Is Magic ”

This is Led Zeppelin’s first ever Television performance on their second tour of Scandanvia and two weeks before the release of their debut album Led Zeppelin I, Jimmy Page had a selection of guitar effects and the violin bow , the mics on John Bonhams drums you can hear every fill in his drumming, Robert Plant charisma really shines through sound quality is excellent I don’t understand why this could not be made commercially released with re mixing the sound and restoring the visuals, its television history for sure. What is surprising watching this superb concert is the audience’s lack of response to Zeppelin’s fully charged performance. They sit listening intently showing little enthusiasm for what they’re hearing. For guitarist Jimmy Page this sort of apathy was part of the appeal of launching his newly formed band in Scandinavia:

Recorded at the Danmarks Radio Studios, Denmark for TV Byen/Denmark Broadcasting Corporation on March 17, 1969, Led Zeppelin ripped through a stunning setlist of their early favorites: “Communication Breakdown,” “Dazed and Confused,” “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You,” and “How Many More Times.”

Impressive, powerful and tight—it is an early example of Led Zeppelin at their best.

Agnes Obel performed a superb set at Latitude Festival earlier this year, this is a remix from David lynch which suits her vocal so much, the Danish songwriter and pianist is a powerful and poignant performer it seems only fitting that she has worked with David Lynch who has added his haunting soundscape remix.
