Armed with a stunning, haunting voice that drips a melancholia, sex and a dangerous beauty  The New Southern Electrikk could be among the best new bands of 2015. This is this is the perfect version of the Gun Club’s stark and ghost like Mother Earth and dripping with emotion and a spectral atmosphere from the Manchester based band. Local singer with the emotion drenched blues voice of the angels, Monica Ward has teamed up with the guys from The Paris Angels.  A dark, sultry cover version of Mother Of Earth by The Gun Club. The band say it’s only a demo but it sounds pretty done to me. Singer Monica Ward has got one of those voices and the band, former Paris Angels amongst them, cook up a reverb laden stew. Southern gothic via east Manchester. More please.

The New Southern Electrikk cannot be easily categorised.  inspiration from Psychedelia, Krautrock and Post-Punk, the band craft dark, mesmerisingly beautiful melodies driven by grinding, sexy undertones. Monica Ward’s versatile vocals can be as ethereal as they are deep and soulful; capturing her audience in the palm of her hand with a voice that is sinister yet alluring.

Zach Davies’ flowing guitar shimmers over Steven Tajti’s gritty, throbbing basslines with Rikki Turner’s keys and backing vocals providing a darker edge. Jim Correy’s drumming is brooding and purposeful giving The New Southern Electrikk a solid base on which to build soundscapes that are visceral yet sultry.

The band enter the studio to record a double A side single at the end of the month, with work beginning on a debut album in the new year, but they’re already receiving a huge amount of attention. Less than twenty-four hours after releasing their first demo online, a cover of The Gun Club’s ‘Mother of Earth’, two of the UK’s most respected producers have shown interest in working with The New Southern Electrikk, and Evan Dando of The Lemonheads has declared himself a fan.

The group’s fourth LP, “Nobody Wants To Be Here And Nobody Wants To Leave”, more than justifies this ascension. Where there were youthful, wayward meanderings, So after exorcising the sorrows of lessons learnt along the way. The new sound with the synths more comfortable in their supporting role, plus new orchestral sounds emerge, The guitars return to the forefront and Graham’s rich vocal is more assured, with a newly matured verve for heart-melting melodies that elevates this record to a place where the band had only earlier dabbled. This record soars with an evolved clarity and punchy guitar hooks, addictive refrains and vocal melodies to weep over.

Father John Misty performed the lead track, Bored In The USA, off his upcoming Sub Pop effort. Josh Tillman and his twisted mind some credit on the timing of “I Love You, Honeybear” is the follow up to 2012′s excellent “Fear Fun”. Sub Pop will be releasing it to the world on 9th February. Here’s what Josh has to say about the album. Performing “Bored in the USA” on the Letterman Show

I Love You, Honeybear was recorded all through 2013 to 2014 in Los Angeles with producer Jonathan Wilson, who I also recorded and produced 2012’s Fairly Fun with. There’s a case to be made that it sounds and acts a bit like solo-era John Lennon, Scott Walker, Randy Newman, Harry Nilsson. It has a decidedly more soulful presence than Fear Fun, due in no small part to the fact that I am truly singing my ass off all over this motherfucker. The album is really characterized by the scope and ambition of the arrangements. Nearly every tune is augmented by something special, be it orchestral strings, a mariachi band, questionable electronic drum solos, ragtime jazz combos, soul singers, or what have you..

Temples are an English rock band formed in Kettering, Northants in 2012 by singer-guitarist James Edward Bagshaw and bassist Thomas Edward James Walmsley . They have received considerable press attention during their short existence and have been cited by Johnny Marr and Noel Gallagher as the best new band in Britain.
Bagshaw commented on the difficulty in selecting which tracks to release as singles. I guess melody is something that assigns a single because that’s the thing that people listen to. But for us, we always found it very hard to choose singles… it might not be commercially viable,

The Districts will be your new favourite band if you like ragged US rock, country-tinged Americana with elements of blues and folk. If you like music made by young men who appear to have just stumbled out of bed. For whom languor is an energy. There are tracks on their debut EP that tap into traditional American music and amp it up, give it some contemporary Beef, which suggests they are going to remain a cult concern. And there are other tracks where they have a penchant for rocking out that hints they could be Kings Of Leon big.
