Sophie Jamieson still shockingly the young singer songwriter introduced herself in dramatic fashion via excellent debut single ‘Stain/Other’ earlier this summer. Softly inspiring, her folk hued tones were matched against a quiet intensity. Still working on her craft, the new EP ‘Take’ will be released on December 8th.
Ahead of this, Sophie Jamieson has placed the title track online. There are shades of Anna Calvi, Daughter here, or even PJ Harvey, with the singer seeming to rapidly mature.Lyrically, ‘Take’ pulls no punches with the beauty of the arrangement set against the emotional impact of the delivery.

The story of The Glass Child, Charlotte Eriksson, is one of those you usually see on movies. Only 18 years old she left everything she had and knew, family and friends, and moved to London to dedicate her life to her music and art.
Forward three years and she has started her own record label Broken Glass Records, released 4 EPs, released her critically acclaimed debut full-length ‘I’d like to remain a mystery’ in February 2013, had her single ”I Will Lead You Home” reaching #2 on the Swedish Itunes-chart, was named Breakthrough Indie Artist Of The Year by Lemonade Magazine and been played on major radios such as BBC6, Sveriges Radio (Sweden) and 3FM (Netherlands). All alone, with nothing but hard work and determination she has built an incredibly dedicated community now with over 24,500 followers on Twitter, and to let her fans in on her journey even more she published her first book “Empty Roads and Broken Bottles; in search for The Great Perhaps” in April 2013, telling the true and raw story about a girl who had a dream and went for it with all her heart. After Neil Young recorded solo renditions of the 10 songs on his new album “Storytone,” he recorded them all again with live accompaniment from an orchestra and a big band. See the video of Young singing “Tumbleweed” in the studio, alongside the 60-piece orchestra.
The sweeping violins underlayed with gentle pizzicato strings lend a cinematic quality to Young’s lonesome vocals on the song, which has lyrics that seem to celebrate the beauty in ephemeral moments. “Life is full of strange delights/ In the darkness we find lights/ To make our way/ Back home again,” Young sings.
“Storytone” follows “A Letter Home,” a collection of cover tunes Young recorded with Jack White and released on Record Store Day last April. They’re the latest albums in a storied career that has included dozens of releases on his own, with backing band Crazy Horse and also as part of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.
“Storytone” came out this week on Warner Bros. Records.

Ela Stiles singer songwriter based in Sydney, Australia. I’m not sure what the self-titled debut album from Australian musician Ela Stiles is supposed to be. an album recorded completely accapella with no instruments utilised bar Stiles’s vocals, in order to capture her at her most striking and vulnerable. But in practice, it just doesn’t feel complete.
The album is split into two distinct sides. The first half contains six short vignettes no more than two-and-a-bit minutes in length. There are some good things about these tracks – Stiles does have a strong and distinctive voice, which allows her to carry off the more conventional songs like the folky ‘Legs Don’t Bend’ quite well. However, at the same time it feels as if this whole section has been rushed and left unfinished. ‘Nothing Remains’ is over in 0 seconds, which doesn’t even give it a chance to start, let alone finish, whilst the titles of two of the songs, ‘Untitled Drone’ and ‘Untitled Man’, seem to suggest that these are merely the embryonic beginnings of some future track, not finished products in their own right.
