Brighton, UK based Fear of Men, first introduced themselves in the shape of 2013′s much praised singles compilation “Early Fragments,” they then presented their much anticipated debut album “Loom” for release in April 2014 and has just announced “Fall Forever” for release June 3rd, 2016 on Kanine Records.

After extensively touring in support of their acclaimed debut album, 2014’s ‘Loom’, Fear of Men decamped in the early months of 2015 to an outbuilding of a disused abattoir in rural Kent, England, to begin work on new material. Such an environment was fitting for a band determined to strip their sound back to the bone and build it up to make an album that would, on their live return, “make the stage shake”.

Fear of Men is Jessica Weiss (Guitar & Vocals), Daniel Falvey (Guitar), Michael Miles (Drums, Keys).

Taken from the album ‘Fall Forever’, released June 3rd on Kanine Records. “Fear Of Men are one of the most interesting bands in the UK right now.”

Now back with their second album Fall Forever,  here is their second single “Trauma”, which is about coping with trauma, accepting it, and taking control of it to find empowerment in moving on. “You give me trauma / You give me more than I can bear / I rise above you / I burn my body on the fire,” Weiss sings over dark synths, drilling snares, and feedback that rumbles in the distance like a stormcloud. Building to a crescendo, Weiss frees herself at the end as the music cuts out and the line “There’s nothing to keep me here” echos out on its own.

Brooklyn based Beverly returns with new single “Contact,” a dreamy allegory about deceit and confusion.

In the summer of 2014, Beverly released “Careers,” a breakout debut album that combined raw pop, post-punk and dreamy melodies. Led by vocalist and guitarist Drew Citron, the band toured across the US and Europe supporting the Drums, as well as playing sold out headlines dates in their hometown of New York. The new album takes a bolder turn, with Citron enlisting new collaborators including noise pop producer Scott Rosenthal (The Beets, Crystal Stilts) and Kip Berman (The Pains of Being Pure at Heart). Crooked Cop was the first taste from the upcoming sophomore album out in spring 2016. now a second track Contact is from The Blue Swell out May 6th, 2016.

Victoria is from the album “The Blue Swell” out May 6th, Kanine Records. Psyched to premiere the glowing, dream-like Jacob Graham-directed visuals for Beverly‘s achingly beautiful new single “Victoria“, which was co-written by Kip Berman of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Beverly’s Drew Citron tells us over email:
The video was inspired by our friend Jacob Graham’s short movies that he creates with his brother. I watched one and immediately called him up and asked if he wanted to direct a music video. Jacob is the synth player and a songwriter in The Drums. He is the kind of person who puts real tea lights on his christmas tree, and uses electrical tape to make an Ikea cupboard look like 16th century stained glass. All the visual effects for the “Victoria” video were done by hand. A music video doesn’t have to have a narrative structure or gimmick – it can just be shapes, colors and moods. We had a lot of fun making this with him in his bedroom,

Eternal Summers on Kanine Records, Virginia indie-pop duo turned trio Eternal Summers are back less than a year after offering last spring’s “The Drop Beneath”. Today they announce their fourth album, Gold And Stone. Continuing to combine crystalline pop sensibilities with ’90s alt-rock influences, the band displays its distinctive musicality on lead single “Together Or Alone.” Mildly distorted guitars, quick drum hits, and choppy bass guitar strokes wrap around Nicole Yun’s light, floating vocals before she taps into her wild side for an energetic bridge that ramps things up before the fadeout. It’s a sign of good things to come,

Beach Day are a rock band based in Hollywood, Florida. The duo consists of Kimmy Drake (guitars/vocals) and Skyler Black (drums). The duo met at a local show and bonded over their love of 60’s girl groups and a common desire to be in a band that was purely about fun. Beach Day released their debut single, “Beach Day,” in summer of 2012 and sophomore single “Walking on the Streets” in the fall. Their debut album, Trip Trap Attack, was released June 2013 by Kanine Records. It was recorded in South Florida and mixed in Detroit by Jim Diamond. Beach Day covered “Up on the Roof” for a Lens Crafters television advertisement. They also did a cover of Screaming Lord Sutch’s “Dracula’s Daughter” in 2013. A new album is out now titles “Native Echoes”.

There is no mistaking Hollywood-based, indie-rock duo Kimmy Drake and Skylar Black’s affection for sunny fun at the shore: Onstage they call themselves Beach Day. And while their second album, “Native Echoes,” due out on Kanine Records filled with trademark retro surf guitar, tumbling waves and plenty of esprit de bikini, it also seems to take a few steps inland, toward the city, where the music picks up chunks of garage-rock grit and Drake’s vocal becomes more soulful and self-assured. It is an evolution that makes the follow-up to last year’s critically lauded debut, “Trip Trap Attack,” such an exciting album. “Native Echoes” clearly benefits from having Detroit garage-rock pioneer Jim Diamond producing in his Ghetto Recorders studio, famous for vintage analog recording equipment that has helped crunch the sound of the White Stripes, the Dirtbombs and others.

It may have been dreary and pouring outside, but Beach Day brought some Florida sunshine to brighten the day.

The Hollywood, FL band treads some of the same ground as like-minded beach-named acts (that is surfy/garage-y rock) distinguished by the vocals of guitarist/vocalist Kimmy Drake, whose vocals are as sweet as any . The once two-piece of Drake and Skyler Black, the band’s drummer, expanded to four with a more robust sound. Their music is deliciously retro, with songwriting of the AM radio/earworm variety. I haven’t been able to get “I’m Just Messin’ Around” and the heavier “Pretty” for more than a week. Both songs can be found on the band’s latest Kanine Records release, Native Echoes,

Bleeding Rainbow  from the album—” Interrupt “
The Philadelphian noise-pop band released their fourth album back in February via Kanine Records. This is the first of many Kanine releases to show up on this list. Last year, Bleeding Rainbow made a favorite album in 2013, and then they dropped off a little bit with this one. This record is really raw. The rumor is that they only took two weeks in the studio and did some of the songs in one take. They wanted to project a sound closer to their live sound. go to the Kanine web store. I like the songs with Sarah on lead vocals, and if all the songs on this record were like the one here, I would have it much higher on my list

Urgent yet dreamy, this breathtaking dose of psychedelia mixes ethereal female harmonies, a soaring melody, and surging beats to dazzling effect. Indie-pop duo Beverly is a project comprised of singer/drummer Frankie Rose and Drew Citron of New York pop stylists Avan Lava, the latter of which wrote the songs that make up the project’s debut LP, “Careers” (Rose pitched in on drums and vocal harmonies). So Beverly is less a true duo than a vehicle for Citron’s compositional voice—Rose has since returned her focus to her solo career, and Citron will flesh out Beverly tracks live with the help of an all new band—and the material reflects Citron’s smart choices with respect to genre and style.

Eternal Summers – The Drop Beneath: Virginia hasn’t always been the most highly productive of states in rock ‘n roll, but Roanoke’s Eternal Summers hit a sweet spot on their third LP of something that channels the classic Slumberland sound with something a bit more aggressive. Doug Gillard’s production doesn’t hurt and the end result is an album that sounds simultaneously classic and invigorating.
