James Bay

Since the moment James Bay released his single, “Hold Back the River,” he instantly wooed fans all over the world. And after hustling for the past few years and playing small venues the British singer-songwriter clearly sang from the heart with the smoothness that’ll make you weak in the knees — but still had just enough rasp that showed that he’s not another pretty face . Similar to Bay’s own determination to make it as a household name, While some solo artists heavily rely on the slower side of things, Bay does the opposite, filling his set with explosive and upbeat songs, playing with so much energy and passion that you have to believe every lyric that he’s singing.
Aside from playing his LP, Chaos and the Calm, Yes, believe it or not, the singer had a Charlie Puth-style pop reinvention in 2018, releasing a decent coming-of-age  record in Electric Light. In a weird way, however, Bay almost overshadowed himself – “Pink Lemonade” is so far ahead as the album’s frontrunner, you almost question why the other songs bothered showing up. A neon-tinged nu-rock number, the song sees Bay indulging a more soulful tear in his vocals while a wall of electric guitar churns against the slick production.

BARN ON THE FARM’s first year started in 2010 and since then this uniquely atmospheric small festival held in two barns on a Gloucester farm has had incredible success and with such impressive line-ups with Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran Bastille and Gabrielle Aplin. With the best of rising stars in Indie Folk, Acoustic and contemporary singer songwriters and the added indie or Synth rock bands on the line up it looks a superb weekend, the feeling you get the musicians enjoy the event as much as the festival goers.

James Bay is one of the biggest musical success stories of the past 12 months, He’s been applauded by music experts and fans alike, having won the BRIT Critic’s Choice Award for 2015 and come second in the BBC’s Sound of 2015 poll; his debut hit Hold Back The River left an indelible mark on the charts across Europe and beyond, his album Chaos and the Calm is doing likewise, and he just tore the tent pegs out of the ground at the In New Music We Trust stage at this year’s Radio 1 Big Weekend.

It’s all a long way from his scuffling start as a singer-songwriter putting out EPs of fresh hand-made material every few months. And as with every ‘overnight’ success, there were a few big stepping stones along the way. The first being the crucial early support from BBC Introducing, then the support slots with Tom Odell and Hozier (not to mention the Rolling Stones). Or the time he stood in at short notice for a poorly Lana Del Rey in the Live Lounge—at the drop of a hat, you might say—and ended up trending worldwide on Twitter.

James Bay,It’s been an amazing week for James Bay being nominated for the BRITs Critics’ Choice award, finishing up the tour and releasing this new video track In music, the phrase “one to watch” gets tossed around a lot. But these days, with so many new ways to consume songs and so many new songs to consume, what make an artist actually worth listening to?. We’re not concerned with labels or throwing out descriptive niceties just to convince you that these artists are “the next big thing.” It’s in their music and in their own words, and all you need to do is lend a curious ear. At first glance, James Bay seems unapproachable. Don’t get me wrong, he definitely has a kind face—but it’s hidden under his signature wide-brimmed Panama hat and shoulder length locks. Also playing into the intimidation is the fact that the buzz surrounding this up-and-comer has been positively deafening. While there’s no definitive debut album release date in sight, a whole lot has already been written about this tunesmith. They’ve said his voice is rare and raspy, all encompassing and authentic. (And it is.) They’ve also said that he’s got this Ray LaMontagne meets Damien Rice sound. (And he does.)

After performing at BARN ON THE FARM in Gloucester James Bay recorded this song ” If You Ever Want To Be In Love”, James is off to Nashville to record his first album with his soulfull flair and gravelly vocals and his classic influences.
