Barn On The Farm started the same year Popped Music was born and we’ve been welcomed into the fold over the last few years. We’ve had such a great time that we practically begged to come back again this year.  We’ve also named Barn On The Farm our favourite outdoor festival of 2016 and 2017! It’s a special place full of friendly people.

A festival that is special for the people who run it, the people who play it and the people who visit. It’s a small boutique festival with a special kind of attention to detail that delights. They have had the creme de la creme in live music play for them and this year is no different. Barn On The Farm takes care to bring their acts back time after time, pushing them further up the stages as their careers develop. Something that’s really lovely to see when it’s such a small festival.

As always there is an abundance of acts available to watch this year and we would happily watch every single one, so here are just a few of our ones to watch to whet your appetite.

Fours

My first pick is a band I’ve been wanting to see for over a year and haven’t managed to yet. London’s Fours make indie pop that really blows my skirt up. There’s an edge to it, a spunky attitude and frontwoman Edit has a vocal that is more than your average indie pop vocal, it would sit well among peers such as Yonaka and Estrons should she decide she wanted to go darker and harder. Really excited at the prospect of seeing them at such a brilliant setting.

Lily Moore

I don’t even really know where to begin with Lily Moore. I’ve seen her as recently as 2 days ago and before then sometime in 2017 and she impressed equally on both occasions. She is self-assured and really lets her emotions shine through her songs. Aside from being amazing, you really couldn’t ask for more from a performance. She also knows how to engage her crowd, chatting away in between. It’s an absolute pleasure and her vocal … just watch it below and go see her, I won’t spoil it.

Anteros

A band, I believe, were initially introduced to me by our pals Flying Vinyl, Anteros have been working the festival circuit hard over the past 2 years and it shows. They’re growing in so many ways and it’s been a while since I last saw them even if other Popped writers have been there more recently. With uptempo tracks and a really entertaining live show, Anteros have more than earned a place on our ones to watch list!

Bad Sounds

I’ve been somewhat quietly obsessed with Bad Sounds since their debut single landed with me almost 2 years. This time last year I felt ashamed that as a new music blog I’d not shouted about them more so it was a no-brainer to change that, and I have.  I watched them play Barn on The Farm last year and since then if there’s ever a chance to see them… take me there! If you’ve not seen them yet… add them to your to do list. The fun comes in thick and fast.

We’re huge fans of Tom and always thought he’d be the perfect headliner for Barn on the Farm, that said we never thought it would actually be possible, yet here we are! We’re truly honoured to have Tom Odell join the BOTF family. His headline set is going to be quite possibly one of the biggest moments the farm has ever seen! It’s going to be HUGE  Joining him will be our favs Sundara Karma, Amber Run and Lucy Rose. AND on top of that, a couple more headliners for you…

Rationale will headline our Outdoor Stage on Sunday 2nd
Benjamin Francis Leftwich will headline our Wooden Barn Stage on Saturday 1st

BARN ON THE FARM’s first year started in 2010 and since then this uniquely atmospheric small festival held in two barns on a Gloucester farm has had incredible success and with such impressive line-ups with Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran Bastille and Gabrielle Aplin. With the best of rising stars in Indie Folk, Acoustic and contemporary singer songwriters and the added indie or Synth rock bands on the line up it looks a superb weekend, the feeling you get the musicians enjoy the event as much as the festival goers.

It’s been a real struggle the past few weeks keeping this a secret, but finally we can let it all out into the open…
James Bay, the winner of the 2015 BRIT’s Critics’ Choice award will be returning to the farm to close this year’s festival on the Sunday night.
The Hitchin-born singer-songwriter first appeared Barn on the Farm back in 2013, playing a sunny mid-afternoon slot on the third stage. Since then James Bay has taken both the UK and global music scene by force, becoming runner-up on the BBC Sound Of 2015 list and winning a BRIT Award even before releasing his first album.

James Bay debut album, “Chaos and the Calm”, will be released on 23rd March and promises to be one of the finest albums of the year. This will also be James’s first ever festival headline .
performance.Joining James Bay on the main stage at this year’s festival, we are pleased to announce Jack Garratt, Rhodes, Nothing But Thieves, Port Isla, Osca and The Academic.

Foy Vance will be headlining the old Wooden Barn Stage, and we will also be introducing a brand new stage to this year’s festival, topped by no other than Amber Run.

Rounding off our first wave of artists we are also pleased to announce Chasing Grace, JP Cooper, Alex Vargas, Freddie Dickson And The Guard, Flo Morrissey and Louis Berry.

After performing at BARN ON THE FARM in Gloucester James Bay recorded this song ” If You Ever Want To Be In Love”, James is off to Nashville to record his first album with his soulfull flair and gravelly vocals and his classic influences.

Layla this girl is just fantastic and one artist you should put on your watch list among the new generation of female musicians,

Ive been lucky enough to see exceptionally talented singer songwriter Jack Garratt a few times over this summer at different festivals, not is he only a gifted songwriter but his musicianship on piano or guitars is tremendous, His performances involve looping with percussive elements with guitar or keys, this is a session recorded for Burberry Acoustic.
