On 25th November 2014, NJ indie rock outfit Prawn will digitally release a new EP titled ‘Settled’, featuring two b-sides from their ‘Kingfisher’ recording session. Additionally, the EP will be available on vinyl, as a limited edition 7″ for Record Store Day on Black Friday, 27th November 2014.

The two tracks (“Settled” and “”Built For”) were originally slated to appear on the ‘Kingfisher’ LP, so Topshelf Records will also digitally release a deluxe version of the LP on 25th November 2014, which includes both songs in the original sequence that the band intended.

Guitarist/vocalist Tony Clark explains, “Last year we set out to write a full length record, which eventually became Kingfisher. We wrote and recorded a total of 12 songs, of which only 10 made the final cut. We had to cut two songs and shuffle the order to make it onto a 12″ vinyl. The two songs we left off our personally some of our favorites and we thought they deserved a proper release. The good folks at Topshelf agreed and hence the Settled 7″.

Last seen on the road as part of the first ever Topshelf Records Tour, with label mates A Great Big Pile of Leaves, Diamond Youth and Field Mouse, Prawn will kick off their UK tour with Gnarwolves on November 10th.

As of this week, and at last it’s finally here. The second album release from “Hookworms” album titled “The Hum” on Domino Records has arrived and the release goes as far as trumping their debut album released in 2013 Pearl Mystic. To celebrate, the band’s next release from the record, ‘Off Screen’.
The song sees “Hookworms” edge slightly away from the high-octane noise they have become most known for, instead a more psych and shoegaze type sound.

Ive been struck by the trio Happyness write  witty and intelligent smart songs and with their ferocious guitars attacks of bass and lead guitars with definite American influences from bands like Pavement  Benji Compston and Jonny Allan shared vocal, guitar and bass duties with off the cuff observations about dead swans and pastoral England  while drummer Ash Cooper might easily make the shortlist as the most animated drummer at CMJ music fest in New York City. Songs like “Anything I Do Is All Right” or “It’s On You,” with more hushed, lo-fi fuzzed out guitar like the eight-minute reverie of “Weird Little Birthday Girl,” that makes Happyness so utterly distinctive. they have been one of the highlights of my festival Summer please check out the mini album “Weird Little Birthday” one of the best releases of the year.

Dilly Dally is a band rooted in Newmarket, Ontario. The band consists of Katie Monks, Liz Ball, Mike Giuliani and Corey Marshall.

The Canadian group Dilly Dally exude a combination of nonchalance and expertly-concealed nervousness. Their songs are bloody-knuckled marvels, big, hammering numbers that are grainy and gritty and yet still centered around clear and cunning pop melodies. The reference points are all late ’90s – there are nods to Nirvana and L7 in both the charred scrap metal guitars and Katie Monks’s roaring, blown-throat vocals. Their force and power was breathtaking, the sound of a band discovering itself in real-time and reveling in the possibilities.

Temples are an English rock band formed in Kettering, Northants in 2012 by singer-guitarist James Edward Bagshaw and bassist Thomas Edward James Walmsley . They have received considerable press attention during their short existence and have been cited by Johnny Marr and Noel Gallagher as the best new band in Britain.
Bagshaw commented on the difficulty in selecting which tracks to release as singles. I guess melody is something that assigns a single because that’s the thing that people listen to. But for us, we always found it very hard to choose singles… it might not be commercially viable,

Midwest shoegazers Cloakroom have been recording a double-LP for a 2015 release, but first they’ll share a 7″ they recorded with Hum’s Matt Talbott at his Earth Analog Studios. The 100 percent analog process yielded A-side “Lossed Over” and this B-side “Dream Warden.” The latter — a dark, doomy, riff-driven track we’re sharing today — features Talbott himself on vocals. The band shared some background on how the producer ended up on the song:

The clock ran out on us while recording our full length before the vocals were wrapped up for it. Matt joked about putting the vocals on it himself when we finished recording because of how much he liked the hook in the chorus.

Performing at the CMJ week in New York City Dilly Dally from Toronto were one of the bands everyone wanted to see, so when they played early Friday they exceeded everyones expectations. Their sound is great Singer and guitarist Kate Monks has a voice that can turn to a roar at any given moment their sound is more mid tempo Indie rock but they are no slackers on stage clearly a band thats locked in and look like they no where they are going and the best way to get there. To date there has only been a couple of songs from Dilly Dally but if their set is anything to go by they have a pretty promising album.
