Brisbane-based duo Amaringo release their debut album, “I Woke Up This Morning After a Dream”, out via Melbourne label Healthy Tapes (Stella Donnelly, Rainbow Chan, Dianas).

The project of drummer/vocalist Allie Wu Lin and guitarist/bassist Christian Driscoll, Amaringo create expansive and woozy atmospheres with tinges of psych that never stray too far away from their ambitious and beautiful songwriting.
Fragmented between writing and recording half of the album in a recording studio, then a year later completing the rest in a more improvised fashion, the resulting record is a startlingly consistent and accomplished piece of work. From the acoustic strums of the 70’s-inspired I Woke Up, to the major-minor drones of Saguaro, and the 7-and-a-half minute monumental Her Way, the album has no shortage of timeless moments sure to appeal to fans of La Luz and Sharon Van Etten.

Perth-based artist Daisies Net (Emma Stokes) releases On the Apple Island, her debut EP via Healthy Tapes featuring singles Go Far, Kunanyi and Sounds Rivulet.
On the Apple Island was recorded and written during a six month period that Emma sought refuge in Tasmania.

“I had been really sick for a long time & trapped in a situation that was irreparably hurting me. I somehow bundled myself up and moved to Hobart without any definite local connections or places to stay. I’d never intended to record while I was there so the equipment I used to make this E.P. fit inside my carry-on luggage. These songs are the narrative of my time on the island; it was a bit strange & utterly surprising- Set against a backdrop of unparalleled natural beauty, a source of healing, treasured companionship, and real magic.”

The EP is intricate and elaborate, yet accessible, allowing the listener to become lost in the worlds Emma composes through the use of both field and studio recordings. Daisies Net’s part- surreal / part-ambient compositions are mostly made in bed – the project acting as an outlet for Emma teaching herself how to produce music to cope with the diagnosis of chronic illness.

Melbourne-artist Sandy Hsu releases her stunningly bold and soothing new EP, “She Comes to Me in a Fever Dream”.

In the lead up to Sandy’s new EP, her single Angel Energy has reached #2 on the AMRAP charts, and the vivid and nostalgic Limbo was premiered by Frankie Magazine and featured on Purple Sneakers who described her music “beautifully effortless”. A transitional and reflective release, She Comes To Me In A Fever Dream explores themes of tenderness, strength, femininity, change and self-reconciliation. Sandy describes the release as having ‘many moments of inward looking, observing my own growth and possibly how that reflects outwardly’.

Taken from the forthcoming EP She Comes To Me In A Fever Dream (Healthy Tapes), Sandy Hsu’s second single ‘Angel Energy’ is a reminder that change, while potentially overwhelming, can also be beautiful.

Hsu has realised that she knows nothing, and has accepted this, embracing growth, learning and transformation. Hsu’s lyrics bleed self-awareness, sometimes harshly so, and she threads them delicately through a swirling, ethereal mist.

Sandy Hsu’s upcoming EP She Comes To Me In A Fever Dream is out via Healthy Tapes digitally and on limited cassette on September 26th.
