Kristina Jung’s latest EP has an eerie appeal all of its own that, rather than being explained by geography, is simply the result of a wonderful voice and some timeless songwriting, I love her double tracked vocals on the “Hunter”.
Well written and exactingly performed folk that could have convincingly been released in 1969 as much as 2014 A weaving of a spell that transfixes you, the longing in the voice and sparse accompaniment all combining into magnificence sound,

YESWAY – ” Lets Go “

Yesway’s self-titled debut from earlier this year was a slept-on gem, a hushed collection of darkly strummed folk songs that evoke a feeling of woodsiness and wonder. In the video for “Let Go,” director Max Basch interprets their darkness literally, manipulating shadows to cast the duo as if they were flitting in and out of light. The second half of the video plays as an inversion, placing them against decomposing sunbursts and seeing them pulled at and apart. The visuals sparkle like the remnants of a night sky, eerie but beautiful.

Kristian Matteson is a singer-songwriter from Dalarna, Sweden. Since 2006, he has released three full-length albums and two EPs. He performs under the stage name The Tallest Man on Earth. He is known for recording and producing his own records in whichever home he is currently living and states that the connection between his voice and guitar is so strong, he rarely records them as separately tracked performances. He is also known both by critics and his fans for his charismatic stage presence.
Compared to Bob Dylan both in terms of songwriting ability and vocal style. When asked about his lyrical style, Matsson explains that he began listening to Bob Dylan at fifteen, and upon hearing Dylan’s cover material, he “tried to figure out where those songs came from” and became slowly exposed to early American folk, such as Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. This is how I play. This is how I write songs.
With regards to his guitar technique, Matsson uses a variety of open tunings, and standard tuning to a lesser degree. He had classical guitar training in his youth, but says he “never really focused on it” and that by the end of high school he “got bored playing guitar because it was like maths, until he then discovered open tunings while listening to Nick Drake in his early twenties. He was drawn to this style of playing because it allowed him to focus on singing while still performing intricate music.

Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley -Taylor have been making music together since they were children, growing up in Watford, UK, England. Brought up in a house that echoed to the sounds of Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby, Stills & Nash and The Beatles, singing in perfect 3-part harmony came naturally to these three sisters. Having started gigging in local pubs and cafes, The Staves are now captivating audiences on much bigger stages – earning rapturous encores with their exquisite songs of love & longing, their extraordinary intertwining voices melt the most cynical of hearts.

a beautiful renedition of the song “A Heart Needs A Home” Richard and Linda Thompson career from 1973-1982 produced some incredible music Richard’s lyrics were particulary bleak and dismal view but the three album “I Want to See The Bright Lights”, “Hokey Pokey” and “Pour Down Like Silver” are all classics of their time.Further albums “First light” and Sunnyvista” Linda’s Vocal is just so wonderful I was lucky enough to see the band many times mostly at the Birmingham town Hall, the early albums are all classic’s of the English folk idiom.
