Special news report! The Killers are confirmed for Rock Werchter 2018 – the Las Vegas group will headline the festival on Friday 6 July ! Bursting onto the worldwide music scene in 2004, The Killers were put firmly on the map with their now-classic debut album, ‘Hot Fuss’, released to huge acclaim and success. The band, who have gone on to sell over twenty-five million albums worldwide, released their newest studio album “Wonderful Wonderful” in September 2017, a comeback that has seen them achieve a record-breaking fifth consecutive number 1 album in the UK. Led by their charismatic frontman Brandon Flowers, The Killers are sure to bring something very special to the festival, with a career-spanning headline set picked from an enviable back catalogue that includes Mr Brightside, Somebody Told Me, When You Were Young, Human and most recent hits, The Man and Run For Cover. Early March, The Killers will play a virtually sold out Sportpaleis in Antwerp. On Friday 6 July they headline Rock Werchter. Having previously played the festival in 2007 and 2009, it’s high time for them to return to Rock Werchter.
Already confirmed for Rock Werchter 2018 are:
Thursday 5 July: Queens Of The Stone Age, Gorillaz, The Script, Marshmello, Alice In Chains, At The Drive In, The Vaccines, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Vince Staples, Anne-Marie
Friday 6 July: The Killers, London Grammar, Snow Patrol, Ben Howard, Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals, Angus & Julia Stone, The Kooks, IAMDDB
Saturday 7 July: Pearl Jam, Jack White, Jack Johnson, Fleet Foxes, Khalid, MGMT, Stereophonics, Stone Sour, Petit Biscuit, JP Cooper
Sunday 8 July: Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Nine Inch Nails, Eels, David Byrne, George Ezra, Fever Ray, Kaleo, Roméo Elvis x Le Motel, Rone, PVRIS
London Grammar is playing Rock Werchter 2018. And so Friday 6 July –festival day 2- can boast its first particularly beautiful name. London Grammar is all about inspirational electro-indie pop. Of the kind that reaches deep into the soul.
The voice of Hannah Reid is like a balm for the soul which heals, even through the radio. Hannah Reid (vocals), Dan Rotham (guitar) and Dominic ‘Dot’ Major (drums/keyboards) met at the University of Nottingham before deciding to head to London. London Grammar made their debut in December 2010, in a small pub in Camden. After James Blake, Florence + The Machine and The xx, the burgeoning London scene had found itself another great talent. In 2013 ‘Strong’ and ‘Wasting My Young Years’ are responsible for London Grammar’s breakthrough and lead to Rock Werchter and a sold out Forest National. After the lightening start and intense tours the trio returns to the peace of an everyday existence. For album number two they collaborate with a whole host of prestigious producers, including Grammy and Oscar winner Paul Epworth (Florence + The Machine, Adele). ‘Truth Is A Beautiful Thing’ (2017) is characterised by its almost cinematic nature. As usual the songs are blood-curdlingly beautiful. London Grammar promptly sells out the Antwerp Lotto Arena twice. Rock Werchter on Friday 6 July is the logical and well deserved next step in their ascension.
Five names are in at present. Queens of The Stone Age and Gorillaz will be there on Thursday 5 July, London Grammar will be performing on Friday 6 July, Pearl Jam on Saturday 7 July, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds on Sunday 8 July.
A musical all-rounder. A massive talent. One of the most legendary artists of the modern generation. Jack White plays Rock Werchter on Saturday 7 July . Often compared to guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page. A man who can’t be pigeon-holed. White is a constant surprise. When rock’n’roll lay dead on the slab at the beginning of this century The White Stripes woke the world with just a drum kit and an electric guitar. And ever since, he’s been rolling high. On Boarding House Reach (due for release on 23rd March 2018), his third solo project, the 12-time Grammy© Award winner tosses rock, jazz, country, gospel and electronica into the blender. It’s the music of the future, and he plays it with an equally eclectic band of musicians. White is also passionately involved with Third Man Records: record company, concert hall, studio and vinyl press, and much, much more besides.
Rock Werchter Festival takes place from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 July at the Festivalpark in Werchter, which will look the same, yet different, this year. It will be more beautiful than ever with the newly-laid lanes and freshly-planted trees and shrubs. And it’s not just the Festivalpark that’s had a makeover. The festival itself has had its familiar, successful formula refined, with more music on a new stage: The Slope . The multi-functional slope that was introduced in 2017 is to be given an additional role. A stage is to be built beneath the highest point of The Slope. The picnic tables will be moved a little further along. The space created under the colourful flags will become a cosy open-air arena for the young pups, the stars of tomorrow, and the newest discoveries of the festival bookers. Herman Schueremans: ” It’s no secret that we’ve been longing for a fourth stage. There are so many bands – not yet well-known – that we would love to introduce to the Rock Werchter audience. They are internationally known for being very receptive, and artists who go down well are warmly embraced, often forever. We’ve got some treats in store for music lovers.”
ROCK WERCHTER FESTIVAL – Belgium 29th June- 2nd July 2017

Announcing the best news of the week by far! Foo Fighters – the premiere rock band of the 21st century – play Rock Werchter on Sunday 2nd July 2017. What a festival closing act! We now have announced four amazing names for the upcoming festival, which takes place in the Festival park in Werchter (Belgium) from 29th June to 2nd July 2017. Radiohead plays on Friday 30 June, Linkin Park and System of A Down on Saturday 1st July and Foo Fighters on Sunday 2nd July. More names to follow soon.
In the 20+ years since the 1995 release of Foo Fighters’ self-titled debut, Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear have grown into a world class headliner dominating stadiums, arenas and festivals across the globe. The band’s massive catalogue of gold and platinum albums has won 11 Grammys, four Brit Awards, sold 25+ million records, and is the backbone of marathon shows powered by singalong anthems “Everlong,” “Monkey Wrench,” “My Hero,” “Learn To Fly,” “All My Life,” “Best Of You,” “The Pretender,” “Walk,” “Something From Nothing” and more. In 2015 Foo Fighters were forced to cancel their appearance at Rock Werchter, but they’ve made good on their promise to return and will bring Rock Werchter 2017 to a close on Sunday 2 July.
The first name is in for Rock Werchter’s opening day. Arcade Fire will play the festival on Thursday 29 June. Rock Werchter hosts this five-star Canadian band for the second time. They were last here in 2010. Five massive names for Rock Werchter 2017 -which takes place from 29 June to 2 July in the Festival Park in Werchter (Belgium)- are now in: Arcade Fire play on Thursday 29 June, Radiohead on Friday 30 June, Linkin Park and System of A Down on Saturday 1 July and Foo Fighters on Sunday 2 July.
Every one of Arcade Fire’s albums is an artistic and commercial triumph. So, in the style of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die , with a silver lining: their amazing debut album, ‘Funeral’ (2004), is a fierce rallying call for beauty, emotion and absurdity in music. Artful rock with a punky outlook – a major lift in times of chaos and anxiety. ‘Neon Bible’ (2007) establishes the Canadian six-piece as one of the key bands of the 21st century. “It’s like standing beside the ocean at night”, or so its makers tell us. ‘The Suburbs’ (2010), their equivalent of ‘OK Computer’, is a prize winner, which – rightly, if a little unexpectedly – scooped a Grammy for Album of the Year. ‘Reflektor’ (2013) goes off ‘all guns blazing’ and shows what Arcade Fire still have to offer after all these years. Onwards and upwards to album number 5. That line just keeps on rising.

News extra. Because it is allowed. Because Kings of Leon have confirmed they will play the festival on Thursday 29th June . And that’s worth celebrating. The list of massive names for Rock Werchter 2017, which takes place from Thursday 29th June to Sunday 2 July at the Festivalpark in Werchter (Belgium), is gradually growing. As it stands: Kings of Leon and Arcade Fire play on Thursday 29 June, Radiohead on Friday 30 June, Blink-182, Linkin Park and System Of A Down on Saturday 1 July. Foo Fighters close the festival on Sunday 2 July. More to come soon.

This week the Rock Werchter team is delighted to confirm some great new acts for the upcoming edition. Five to be precise: Royal Blood, Bazart, Bonobo (live), White Lies and Agnes Obel. The line-up for Rock Werchter 2017 is slowly taking shape. Take a look:
- Thursday 29 June: Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Imagine Dragons, Lorde, Agnes Obel

- Saturday 1 July: Linkin Park, System Of A Down, Blink-182, Bonobo (live)
