They might have left us waiting for longer than we would have liked, but Latitude Festival have just announced one of the best line-ups of the summer.

The festival, which takes place at Suffolk’s Henham Park in July, will be headlined by The Maccabees, The National and New Order – but that’s truly just the tip of the iceberg. Grimes, Chvrches, Christine & The Queens and Father John Misty are also on the bill.

Joining Grimes in headlining the BBC Radio 6 Music Stage are Kurt Vile and Of Monsters And Men, while Frightened Rabbit, MO, Polica, Perfume Genius and Aurora will play the same stage throughout the weekend.

Lower down on the main stage bill, meanwhile, are the likes of Beirut, John Grant, Courtney Barnett, Chet Faker, Daughter and Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.

There’s also a pretty impressive theatre, poetry and comedy line-up this year, if you can tear yourself away from the musical guests for a moment. The Great British Bake Off presenter and comedian Mel Giedroyc will be starring in a performance of The Importance Of Being Earnest, while spoken word poet Hollie McNish will also perform.

Latitude Festival takes place from 14 to 17 July at Henham Park, Suffolk. See the full musical line-up so far below, and get tickets and more information here.

LATITUDE FESTIVAL

Daughter

Daughter  in concert at the BBC 6 Music Festival in Bristol this past weekend. Getting started in 2010, and with a critically acclaimed debut album in 2013, Daughter have risen quickly in popularity with audiences as well as the press.

Described variously as Indie/Folk/Ambient and Pop, but leaning heavily in the ambient direction, the band is fueled by the heady-emotion-filled songs of Elena Tonra, and have struck on a winning combination, creating a luxuriant soundscape to compliment what has been characterized as a unique sonic landscape.

Since their debut, they have issued some four eps, three singles and another album, Not To Disappear, which was released this past January to worldwide sales, extending their appeal way beyond their UK fanbase.

They are one of the big acts again this year,  at the BBC 6 Music Festival in Bristol, which has been a feast of great and diverse music. In 2013 they were just starting to get notice and recognition. In the 3 years since, they have grown (as any band would, given the amount of hard work and touring they put in) and the effort has paid off. What is presented now is a polished and accomplished band; assured and comfortable with a capacity audience.

One of the nice things about following bands via the internet, which you really weren’t able to do before having fingertip/worldwide access, is catching their live gigs and reading their reviews the night after, hearing their radio sessions and interviews and being witness to a band growing and maturing before your eyes – the cause and effect; the hard work and endless slog it takes, and the payoff of a growing and loyal audience and hitting that success, knowing you’re doing something right. It’s great stuff and it’s wonderful to watch.

So this latest installment in the ongoing story of Daughter continues to be the success they’ve achieved in the past three years. From the sounds of it, there appears to be no letup and 2016 should be another good year for them.

As our rolling Welsh hills are warmed up by the past week’s wonderful weather, it’s not long now ‘til we descend on the glorious Brecon Beacons for reclining in the rays and imbibing inspirational music from this year’s guests!

We’ve kept you waiting, but we think she’s worth the wait.. We’re over the moon to reveal our fourth and final headliner, in the majestical form of Laura Marling, the enchanting folk goddess returns for her third performance at GM. Her legendary performances have always gone down a storm at Green Man and we’re already feeling awestruck imagining her playing new material in her Saturday night set on the Mountain Stage in 2016.

We are very happy to announce that Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will be joining us at the fourteenth Green Man. With new album ‘PersonA’ imminent – and a stage-hogging 10 members in tow – their big band, beach-licked grooves will be a glorious addition to the (already glorious) Brecon Beacons.

Making a very welcome return are Nottinghamshire veterans Tindersticks (official), whose atmospheric introspections – now 25 years in the game – still sound uniquely their own. Sister act The Unthanks return, too, with kind offerings of soft-lit folk. After rocking the Green Man Boat Party, Slow Club are sure to turn a few heads with their indie pop.

Glitch-rockers SUUNS are booked in to deliver a lesson in head-nodding intensity, with Portishead descended Beak> specialising in intense drone-fuelled thuddery. KEVIN MORBY, with a new album due any minute, will have feet tapping to the beat of his woozy indie, perfect when supping an ale from the Courtyard.

PS – We’ve refreshed the GM16 Spotify playlist with a whole host of new treasures. Go get your ears round it here – http://found.ee/m8Xgx

Indietracks Festival

Incredibly excited to say that Saint Etienne, The Aislers Set, The Spook School are among the first 22 artists confirmed for this year’s Indietracks (29-31 July 2016). This year is the tenth anniversary of Indietracks, which started in April 2007 as a one-night event.

Saint Etienne are a much-loved British trio made up of Sarah Cracknell, Pete Wiggs and Bob Stanley. Their debut album Foxbase Alpha was released in 1991 and since then they have released eight albums, two of which reached the top ten of the UK album charts. Their most recent album Words and Music received numerous glowing reviews, with Pitchfork calling it their “best LP since 1994 masterpiece Tiger Bay” and the NME saying “this record is the soundtrack to your life.”

The Aislers Set are an American indiepop six-piece much loved by the late BBC Radio One DJ John Peel. Their three albums received wide critical acclaim and they have toured with a myriad of bands including Yo La Tengo, Sleater-Kinney and Belle and Sebastian. The band went on hiatus in 2003, reuniting briefly in 2012 and then again 2014 for a handful of shows in America to celebrate the reissue of their albums. They haven’t played the UK for four years and Indietracks will be their only UK show this year.

Around 50 indiepop bands from across the globe will be playing across four stages at Indietracks. The festival will also host a range of art and craft workshops and a selection of discos after the bands finish.

It’s shaping up to be a brilliant 10th anniversary celebration at Indietracks – hope to see you all in July!

Joining them on the bill today are Shopping, Expert Alterations, Flowers, Seazoo, Po!, Chrissy Barnacle, ¡Ay Carmela!, City Yelps, Soda Fountain Rag, Charla Fantasma, Vacaciones, Songs for Walter, Two White Cranes, Falling & Laughing, Maggie8, Lorna, Pete Green, The Charlie Tipper Conspiracy and Prizefighter. Dozens more artists will be added to the bill shortly!

The Band have played a second headlining appearance at Indietracks 2015 having previously topped the bill in 2010, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart are a welcome addition to any mouthwatering line-up. Founder member Kip Berman has earned a reputation as a songwriter of epic distinction, evidently highlighted by last year’s excellent third LP “Days Of Abandon”. Always a extra special live offering with a set packed with highlights from the band’s extensive back catalogue and maybe a few surprises too. A awesome live band..’Until The Sun Explodes’ – the latest single from The Pains of Being Pure at Heart from the album ‘Days of Abandon’

I’m hoping there will some shows this summer and maybe a new album .

Hay-on-Wye

Set on the edge of the Black Mountains alongside the Wye in the famed book town of Hay is the magical location of HowTheLightGetsIn. Here is where HowTheLightGetsIn, the world’s first philosophy and music festival, has just completed its seventh outing.

HowTheLightGetsIn 2016 will once again take place across two festival sites. We’ve grown since we started. But we’ve kept the intimate scale. Our venues are small enough to encourage real conversation, electric enough to make the dancing spin.
