From the upcoming album Feed The Fire, released January 22nd 2016, “‘Time Of The Season’ weaves between deep, gothy tumult and astral projections. Twangy guitars dart around synth horns, distant drums shuffles and, predominantly, Billie Lindalhl’s ethereal vocals that lead the meandering melody up an away like the wings on the instrumental body. And this new video, replete with dark shadows, glimpses of gold faces and beams of light peeking out match the song’s swirl perfectly.”. Stockholm’s Billie Lindahl, aka Promise and the Monster, struck by its dark beauty, it’s driving, melodic sounds and Lindahl’s frankly irresistible vocal. For her third album, Feed the Fire, out in January next year, she’s moved to the iconic Bella Union label,

Oracle North have released their new single ‘Communion’.

The Swedish quartet revealed the track ahead of their debut EP release.

Speaking of their new EP, the band said: “I think our music is touching on subjects like estrangement and existential anxiety, which is expressed through some sort of yearning for a more primitive experience. Aesthetically, we’ve been inspired by equal parts Greek mythology; the Dionysian, Apollonian dichotomy and so forth, and the late 70s, early 80s DIY culture. And Can… and suicide.”

Oracle North is a four piece set-up currently residing in Stockholm, Sweden. They have collaborated on numerous projects before, released material on labels such as Kitsune? and Palms out sounds, and played venues such as La fleche d’or in Paris and Fabric in London. They are no strangers.

Rising from the New York punk movement of the 70’s, Patti Smith is an influential singer and musician known for combining spoken word poetry with primal garage rock. By 1976, she had released her debut Horses and the more raw-sounding Radio Ethiopia.

Her October 3rd, 1976 concert at The Konserthuset in Stockholm, Sweden was filmed and recorded for broadcast, documenting this early stage in her career. Prior to the internet, the audio portion had been circulated among fans with the bootleg title, ‘I Never Talked To Bob Dylan,’ a slight reference to the short interview that accompanied the performance.

Patti Smith’s influence by The Velvet Underground and Lou Reed is well represented with the covers ‘Real Good Time Together’ and ‘Pale Blue Eyes’. Actually, there are quite a few cover songs here including the classics ‘Louie Louie,’ ‘Gloria,‘ and the Smith original ‘Land‘ which includes yet another rock classic, ‘Land Of 1,000 Dances.’ Patti’s version of The Rolling Stone’s ‘Time Is On My Side’ is prefaced by her own spoken-word piece.

‘Ask The Angels’ and ‘Land’ stand out as highlights of this show as well as a representation of the performances that inspired Gilda Radner’s Candy Slice character on SNL in the 70’s.

For some bands, psychedelia is just a flavour of the month. For Stockholm’s Anti Pony, though, it’s an ever-whirring kaleidoscope of sonic potential. Alexander Pierre and Sanna Colling are the duo responsible for creating debut single ‘Cry On The Floor’, which sounds like the primal garage of 13th Floor Elevators stomping all over Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazelwood’s creations.

Garage Pop from Stockholm, Sweden.Their album “Stockholm One” album released 25th Feb via BURGER RECORDS and PNKSLM Recordings in Europe.Lucern Raze is the new solo project of Luke Reilly, who settled in Stockholm and founded his label PNKSLM after being in UK garage rock band Sex Beet. He’s gearing up to release his debut album, “Stockholm One”, which was recorded in one week in the Swedish capital. “Someone Like You” is a slower cut from the album, and it passes by in a buttery smooth and placid haze. Reilly’s vocals breeze over the music, the guitars swelling around him during the chorus. “I was looking for someone like you/ For now, I guess you’ll do,” he starts, stuttering that last word infectiously.

Chrissie Hynde releases a brand new version of The Pretenders “2000 Miles” on December 15. The song was originally a Christmas hit in 1983, when it reached number 15 in the singles chart. The new version was recorded during the sessions for Hynde’s first solo album, Stockholm.

“Last year while finishing up the album “Stockholm”, Bjorn Yttling and I made up this version of the Pretenders “2000 Miles” says Hynde. “I think it captures the mood of the season perfectly as it gets cold in Sweden, reindeer wander the streets freely and the snow was coming down! Happy Christmas!”

The track is also available on the deluxe version of Stockholm, alongside seven live tracks — including I Go To Sleep and Brass In Pocket — recorded at the singer’s recent iTunes Festival show at London’s Roundhouse.

the Harmonies of First Aid Kit just amaze me every time I see or listen to them perform, the Swedish folk duo. Their 2008 YouTube video cover of the song “Tiger Mountain Peasant Song” by Fleet Foxes spread their name rapidly on the Internet. In need of a little uplift on this gray fall morning? Peep this new video from Swedish folk band — and sisters — First Aid Kit. The clip shows Johanna and Klara Söderberg performing their Stay Gold track “Heaven Knows” during a studio session in Stockholm. The sisters say that the song “kind of sounds like an old Christian gospel country song” but that it was “a sarcastic decision to make it sound that way.” The duo are kicking off a headlining tour in the U.S. this fall and will come out to NYC on October 24 to play the Hammerstein Ballroom. You can see a full list of tour dates HERE and, in the meantime, jam out to “Heaven Knows,” above.

From Stockholm Sweden, comes The Hanged Man is a new fruit from Rebecka Rolfart’s (former guitarist of Those Dancing Days and bassist in Vulkano) The Hanged Man arose in the calm after the storm, in a time of stillness when the world suddenly had turned upside down. So her eyes began to look inward.
The inspiration comes from dark places like forests, skies and seas – even her own head where the interior is as a lake. The places are not necessarily scary, rather secure. It is in those places the soul gets room to shout out its need for affirmation. Places where darkness becomes a light.
The debut single ‘First Time Dreaming’ was released in September 2014 on PNKSLM Recordings to rave reviews in both Sweden and abroad. It’s taken from the debut mini-album ‘First Quarter Moon’, which is due for release on November 10 via Kning Disk/Telegram Studios.
