If you’re a fan of Noah Hawley’s TV shows, odds are you’re familiar with Irish indie-folk singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan, even if you’re not quite aware of it.

Most recently like, literally a couple of days ago her version of David Bowie’s “Oh! You Pretty Things” scored the closing credits of the sixth episode of FX’s acclaimed X-Men drama Legion, while in 2015 she covered traditional classic Danny Boy for and episode in Fargo’s second season.

She also appeared on the soundtrack for Gravity, the 2013 film starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, among other films — including Closer (2004) and, uh, Shrek The Third (2007), both of which included songs she contributed with one-time band-mate and well-known solo artist Damien Rice.

Having got her start as one of Rice’s band members, Hannigan struck out on her own with her 2008 debut Sea Sew and immediately established herself as an artist worth watching, picking up nominations for the Choice Music Prize, Meteor Music Awards and the Mercury Prize. She returned in 2011 with sophomore effort Passenger and most recently released third album At Swim in August last year.

so the big news is that in just under a month’s time i will be releasing my new record whispers 2 !!
I’m so excited to get it out in to the world and for you guys to hear it !
the truth is i’ve been sitting on this album for ages as all of the songs were written and recorded at the same time as Whispers which is the reason why it feels right to make it a follow up rather than a separate entity all together .

there are ten songs on the album (plus 6 bonus tracks if you get the deluxe edition and as i said , these songs have been around for a while so some of you might know a few of them already . i’ll post a full track list up and go in to more detail about all of this over the next few days ….the most exciting thing that i need to tell you about is that i’ve teamed up with unicef uk and i’m delighted to say that all of the profits , from every physical and digital sale of whispers II goes directly to helping malnourished kids in Liberia. (please check out this link if you want to find out more http://www.unicef.org.uk )

hopefully this is a win win situation where you guys get a new Passenger album and the money you spend on it goes to helping people who really need it !!

i’ll be releasing this record on my own label (black crow records) which is really exciting as it means that every penny of profit can go to where it is most needed .  if you’d like to you can preorder physical and digital copies from http://www.passengermusic.com

i was lucky enough to have the exceptionally talented bryan dos reis on the road with me for the european tour at the end of last year . in our spare time we went about making a few really simple videos for some of these new songs .
i’ll be posting one up every week from now until the release of the album to give you guys an idea of what to expect …..
this first one is called traveling alone . i hope you enjoy it / don’t cry too much .
there is no marketing team or big record label behind this project so please , if you like the video and want to spread the word about what we’re doing , feel free to share this with as many people as possible !!

thank you all so much for reading , watching and listening .
loads of love .

This is the third video in the Whispers II series . the song is called “Fear of Fear” and is actually the opening track on the album its different to the previous two in that it isn’t character based and doesn’t tell a story about somebody else . Mike describes the premise ,written a few years ago one morning with a terrible hangover . out the night before and for some reason i hadn’t enjoyed it . i don’t know if anyone else ever feels like this but i sometimes think those kinds of social situations can be some of the loneliest times . surrounded by people but feeling completely disconnected ?! dunno , probably me just being a moody singer songwriter ….

the video was all very last minute – we filmed this in my mates pub in Brighton ( massive thanks to john and everyone at Good Companions for having us ) and all of the fantastic extras that you will see were very kind passenger fans that turned up to help out with about 3 hours notice – it was such a fun couple of hours and i can’t believe how accommodating everybody was ( special thanks to the ones that actually got drunk in real life to get in to character …. at 9am …. thats true commitment ;-))
i was in the middle of a very long tour so i think i look a bit knackered but i guess it adds to the general sentiment

In the next installment the 7th and penultimate video, and the next city of the North American Tour the guys and gals have another song for us, this time its not a cover song but a song from fellow tour member and good friend Stu Larsen taken from his album ” Vagabond”  as its his song Stu take the lead vocal

the sixth video in this collection of songs from various cities as we make our way across America on tour, today this video comes from Vancouver Canada. Some of our favourite artists and musicians are from Canada  from Leonard Cohen and Neil Young to more recent artists like Dan Mangan , Arcade Fire and Feist and our touring partners The Once. In the end it was decided that the song written and performed by Jon Mitchell  “A Case Of You” would be our choice a breathtaking song with honest and painful lyrics

The guys hit the City Of Chicago, the fourth in this series of songs inspired by their American Tour together.
