a scorching hot release which flares with super-catchy power-pop/60’s garage-influenced magic and has a ‘dancing round the room’ pied piper-ness about it! We expect big things from them and they’re already getting some nice support slots. Hook-laden, passionate and worthy of reaching a wider audience…The See No Evils.

New 2 track album from Leeds, Garage Rock band The See No Evils. Their album was released on December 16th and also is available on a limited edition 7” vinyl and digital download on Heavy Soul Records web store and bandcamp page . For more of their music visit their bandcamp and soundloud page. The first release of 2015 will be by those ace Pyschedelic beatsters from Leeds THE SEE NO EVILS with two new tracks – have a listen ,The second vinyl single by the band see’s more of the upbeat pyschedelic grooves that we are coming to love.

From the sound of this first single, Leeds based band  Adult Jazz doesn’t have much to do with jazz, nor with the kind of tongue-in-cheek, smooth-as-hell lounge music homage you might expect from a band with the word “adult” in its name. Mostly, it’s bluesy, a cappella-style crooning, accented with some skeletal drums and baritone/falsetto vocal harmonies. There’s a couple other elements that make their way in—electric guitar, some jagged break beats—but more than cohere into a full band sound, “Springful” feels committed to its own sparseness, experimentally building each counter intuitively catchy groove from as few sonic elements as possible. It’s got a strange beauty that lives up to the weird-as-fuck band moniker, and it’s one of three tracks on Adult Jazz’ upcoming “Am Gone”/”Springful” 12″ single which they’re self-releasing on their own label, Spare Thought Records,

Leeds-based indie rock super-group featuring members of Hookworms, Sky Larkin, Komakino and You Animals.

Menace Beach were formed by core members Ryan Needham (formerly the lead singer of Derby band Komakino) and Liza Violet (currently of Department M) in 2012. Although the band have a revolving cast of musicians, it has invariably included Nestor Matthews of Sky Larkin, Matt Spalding of You Animals and MJ of Hookworms. They have also played with Robert Lee of Pulled Apart By Horses and Paul Draper of Mansun, who provided backing vocals and guitar on their BBC Radio 6 Music Marc Riley session. As a consequence of their notable members, the band have been called a supergroup. Menace Beach have released on Too Pure and French label Desire, but are currently signed to Memphis Industries; they are set to release a debut album with them in late 2014. They are currently produced by MJ of Hookworms at his Suburban Home Studio.

Hookworms new album,‘The Hum’ is out now, When “Pearl Mystic” (Hookworms debut album) came out, those of us who reviewed it were very keen to pigeonhole the band. With a sound akin to the Fall, The Doors and T-Rex. This time round I feel no such compulsion. This sounds like a Hookworms record from the outset. From the electronic pulse of the opener ‘Impasse’ breaking in to a full on Hookworms style assault on the ears, you are left in no doubt that who this album is by. It’s exciting, visceral and takes no prisoners as it segues into ‘On Leaving’ which already begins to give a clue that this album is going to be more nuanced than ‘Pearl Mystic’ and, with MJ’s vocals much higher in the mix, a more confident assertion of what the band stand for. “The Hum” is an altogether more powerful statement of Hookworms potency. The swaggering Leeds post punk quartet, who we’ve been checking out reasonably hard since early 2012 finally dropped their debut album – a release that was immediately lauded as a modern day classic. Expect unbalanced riffs, pummelled drums and vocals that scream with authenticity. –

Leeds-based fuzz-rockers Menace Beach have been floating around here and there throughout 2014, steadily building up a reputation that that has led to their debut LPRatworld  which will be released on January 15th via Memphis Industries – becoming hugely anticipated.

Until now, there hadn’t been a full-blown tour around the UK for fans to really get their teeth stuck into, but come the end of January and the unveiling of the album, all that will change.

The band will perform in-stores in Leeds and Nottingham, and an album launch special in Kingston, before hitting the road proper at The Broadcast in Glasgow on January 25th. It all culminates with what will no doubt be a sizzling homecoming finale at Brudenell Social Club on February 1st.

What’s more, there’s also a new track for us to wrap our ears around. ‘Blue Eye’ demonstrates another string to the five-piece’s bow, taking us on an ethereal meander that embraces psychedelia and distorted balladry – this could well end up being one of the record’s most poignant sonic moments.

WIERDS – ” Off The Hook “

Wierds, following the self-released “savage onslaught of sickly-sweet desert rock, grungey riffs and menacing vocals” that was ‘Off The Hook’, the Leeds four-piece have announced some dates in early January.
Like their debut tracks, the double A- side ‘Yolk’/‘Crocodile’, another track which doesn’t hold back.  A three-minute psychy puncher, with a great Western-style opening guitar sequence,

After sharing stages with the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses, Traams and God Damn, Weirds are set for a headline tour in January. 2015, certainly a band to watch this coming year.

We’re always in the mood for tight, sugar-glazed indie pop around these parts, but London’s Gengahr offer something more, something more akin to sun-kissed sadness.

Formerly known as RES, Gengahr released the foot-tapping sun-kissed gem “She’s A Witch” a few months ago as a free demo, and now the band are back with two more “Haunter” and the song “Bathed In Light” the track that made more people aware of the band was the track  –”Fill My Gums With Blood”. Which you can find elsewhere on my pages

Fill My Gums With Blood sees the sweet vocals with an almost funk-derived rhythm and stripped back guitars that could be all sunshine and gloss, but there’s an sadness in the underlying nature of the track that for some reason reminded my of the late, great Elliott Smith.
