Here is the Official Music Video for ‘Lost Without You’!!! The support you’ve shown me and this song over the last month has been truly breathtaking. To every person who’s shared, liked and commented, thank you. You’re just incredible, It’s been a long time coming.

Freya Ridings has been patiently, diligently working on her music for years now, honing her skills, refining her approach.

And then it all seemed to click into place. Her single ‘Lost Without You’ really hit home with fans, and eventually found its way into an important scene on a little known TV show called Love Island.

Going viral almost overnight, everything since has been a rush – sold out shows, a packed out set in Tottenham Court Road station, and a whirlwind series of engagements.

Performing at Omeara was so incredible! Looking out and seeing so many faces left me speechless, I’m so excited to be able to share it with you all. My new live album ‘Live At Omeara’ is available soon. Very excited that next week I shall be releasing a new 11 track live album “Live At Omeara”
Performing is one of my favourite things, meeting you after the shows, hearing your stories – it makes this so special.
There’s lots of new music that I’m working on now that I can’t wait to share, I wanted to give you something now as a thank you for your support so far.

Freya Ridings delivered a poignant performance at London’s Omeara that was well beyond her 23 years of age.

The singer’s ambient and, at times, ethereal sound, places her somewhere in between London Grammar’s Hannah Reid and Florence Welch in terms of range and vocal power.  Brimming with soul, that voice played quite the juxtaposition to her much softer – almost nervous – speaking voice, as she got comfortable with her surroundings, delivering a set which combined her own original material which yo-yoed between the sombre and the upbeat: and her own unique covers of tracks by artists including Hozier and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

The London native’s family were also in attendance, Ridings dedicated “You Mean The World To Me” as a heartfelt ode to her mother, and subsequently her father and brother by proxy, to a chorus of laughter at what was ultimately a homecoming of sorts. The feel-good atmosphere clearly spurred Ridings on at the sold-out show: she grew in confidence as the night progressed.

Backed by her band and playing the keyboard, Ridings showcased her ability to keep an audience transfixed as if she were telling a story. Each song and every lyric was delivered impeccably and with heart, demonstrating there was real angst and emotion entwined within those words, nowhere more evident than with her encore performance of her latest single, the stunning “Lost Without You”.

This is a version of one of my favourite Hozier songs ‘Work Song” performed live at Omeara in London. So excited for all my up and coming shows – I can’t wait to see you there. The next few months are going to be really special.

Freya Ridings - Lost Without You

There’s nothing quite like watching an old flame depart for the final time — the inevitable, sparkling rush of memories, the way shared experiences suddenly rise and flicker through the veins. It’s a setting Freya Ridings captures beautifully in “Lost Without You,” an exquisitely crafted pop ballad that cuts straight to a tender place. Between delicately sprinkled piano chords, the UK songstress repurposes heartbreak into soaring yet pained clarity, each billowy confession taking on deeper resonance until a final, cloying reminder that her own decision started it all.

‘Maps’ by Yeah Yeah Yeahs definitely seems to be occupying a place in the sun, a stint in the limelight. Beyonce echoed the track during an emotional moment on ‘Lemonade’, sparking a flurry of reinterpretations.

Newcomer Freya Ridings has perhaps recorded the definitive version, a sparse, intense rendition that speaks eloquently of loss, grief, and love. James FitzGerald directed the visuals, and they beautifully expand on Freya’s wonderful vocal performance. She say’s  “Completely blown away by the wild emotional imagery this video has added to the song. I am really proud to have this as my first official music video!”

Freya Ridings has a deft, delicate, devastating touch. The songwriter is still young – 22 years old, no less – and operates with just her and her piano. Yet she’s capable of conjuring entire worlds, with each song coming from a very real place in her life.

A live clip, shot at Hackney’s wonderful Round Chapel venue – a simple yet enormously affecting performance, you can check it out below the song “Maps”. Freya RidingsMaps (Live at Hackney Round Chapel)

“Blackout,” Freya Ridings’ is the breakout first single, sounds fresher and more current than much of today’s future pop, hip-hop, and r&b – ironic, considering Rich Costey’s production features essentially no bells or whistles. There’s no chopped-up, detuned digital voices; no drilling trap beats; no laser synths. Instead, it’s just Freya Ridings, her thoughts, and a grand piano, all swathed in warm, crystalline reverb.

It’s a good sign of the state of today’s music scene. Substance is starting to outweigh style, and heart wins out against cynical consumerism.

In the case of Freya Ridings and “Blackout,” you get style and substance, with heart to spare. We love these two tracks when we can just have a nice thing, a brand new heartfelt piano ballad, to just enjoy.

Freya Ridings

London alt-singer/songwriter Freya Ridings is wise beyond her years, with a voice as warm and weathered as early Nina Simone and the primal, howling emotionality of Adele, minus the melodrama.

There’s something uncanny about Ridings’ piano pop. With a voice suitable for a woman twice her age, and rocking a timeless style, it’s just as easy to imagine Ridings playing piano in some candle-lit cabaret in the ‘40s as on the radio in 2017, singing her songs of heartbreak and yearning.
