Friends of Strangers is a new initiative focused on hearing the sounds that inspire the people who inspire us. Christian Bland is the prolific songwriter/guitarist behind such outfits as The Black Angels, Christian Bland & The Revelators and UFO Club. Austin Psych Fest hosts a whole load of great bands that generally would fall under the genre of being psychedelic. That is a gratefully wide definition which led to a varied and far-reaching lineup. Current psych masters like Panda Bear and of Montreal performed alongside old guards like the Zombies while stranger, more aggressive acts such as Liars and Black Lips were on hand as well.
