Having just come back from a European tour and celebrated the release of their debut album on 16th March, Charles Howl, a London-based brit-psych group announce a new double A single taken from ‘Sir Vices’: ‘Lunacy’ & ‘Sighed At Me’.

Founded by two members of The Proper Ornaments, Charles Howl are some of the last children of the ‘80s, and with a Britpop upbringing, it is no wonder they have produced an album that sounds like My Bloody Valentine channeling The Stone Roses, while maintaining a contemporary charm.

Both Tjinder & Benedict are avid record collectors, who met when they both studied at Preston Polytechnic. Tjinder became the Union Social Executive whilst Ben went to London to work in a vinyl record pressing plant. As Cornershop took off and developed, so did the amount of Turbans they had to wear, and Ample Play Records is the culmination of all that work and experience, backed by freedom & enjoyment, with ‘Music 10 Commandments’.

Their Roster of artists include :

Sudden Death of Stars. Think The Byrds, Velvet Underground, Spacemen 3, Brian Jonestown Massacre, made in Brittany.

Ample Play were set to go to a small festival that The Sudden Death of Stars were playing at, but weren’t able to make it. However, we were so intrigued with the music that we arranged to meet them the next time we were in France. The rendez-vous was a vinyl record fair, rather than having any difficulties finding them, they popped as an instant group. After lengthy discussions over lots of French drinks, the band and Ample Play decided to collaborate.

Initially the label was drawn to the integration of the sitar as displayed on ‘Supernovae’, but listening to tracks like ‘I’ll Be There’ we realised that they could turn their hands to anything.

Sam Lunsford writes most of the bands songs and takes vocal lead with multi instrumentalists Daniel Cundiff and Sean Micheal, John Thompson and Jonathan Woods completing the band line up. Ample Play Records recently released a compilation of the band recordings
