The news is finally in! We’re very pleased to reveal the first wave of acts and artists that will be heading to Cornwall for this year’s festival.

There are many more to be announced over the coming weeks and months, but the first of the bunch include beloved singer-songwriter Nick Lowe; Kate Stables’s highly acclaimed This Is The Kit; Booker Prize-shortlisted novelist Michèle Roberts; best-selling food writer and chef Gizzi Erskine; and Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnston’s cosmic combination A Love from Outer Space.

It’s been 50 years since the original Summer of Love, and we think it’s fair to say that right now, we could all do with another! We’ll be celebrating its 50th anniversary at the festival, and our beautiful new artwork is a signal of things to come. It was created especially for us by celebrated ’60s countercultural artist and designer Nigel Waymouth, who founded the enduringly influential Kings Road boutique, Granny Takes a Trip.

In Nigel Waymouth’s words: “I’m very happy and honoured to have been asked to design the graphic artwork for the festival. Port Eliot has a special quality to it. It’s very intimate in its friendliness. I’m very much hoping to be there this year, the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, and maybe give another talk about that time.”

We’ll be revealing plenty more about our #SummerofLove at #PortEliot2017 in the coming weeks.

Amongst those appearing on the opening Friday are iconic PZYK names TRÄD, GRÄS OCH STENARLOOPTHE BUG vs DYLAN CARLSONLAETITIA SADIER and GNOD, alongside a first festival curation from CASTLE FACE RECORDS. New line-up additions A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS are joined on Saturday by Zamrock pioneers W.I.T.C.H.JANE WEAVERADRIAN SHERWOODWOLF PEOPLEWHITE MANNA and SEX SWING.
Tickets for Friday (£40) and Saturday (£50) day go on sale at 9am on Friday 28 July from liverpoolpsychfest.com. Weekend tickets can still be purchased now.
Our annual Musings In Drone conversations programme, cinema curations, virtual reality and installations programmes will be announced in the coming weeks.

We’re overjoyed to be welcoming some additional guests to our PZYK 2017 Congregation, all of whom contribute to making this year’s festival a pan-continental voyage of discovery. New York Scree architects A PLACE TO BURY STRANGERS (Saturday) bring their wall of noise assault to the PZYK tumult. The Brooklyn trio are currently on tour with The Black Angels, the tension of their noise and chaos a perfect counterbalance to the Texans’ reverb-soaked hooks.
Californian trio
L.A. WITCH bring their neon-lit fusion of garage rock and dream pop to Friday’s line-up, while Swedes DEAD VIBRATIONS unleash their storm of angst-ridden guitar work on Saturday.

BBC Radio 6 Music Festival festival has announced Depeche Mode as their headline act as the event heads to Glasgow in March.

Taking place between Friday 24th and Sunday 26th, Depeche Mode will take to stage on the final night for their first live UK show since 2013, and they’ll be performing tracks from their new album Spirit along with classic hits.

The last time that Dave, Martin and Andy performed at the 2,000 capacity Barrowland Ballroom was over three decades ago, in 1984 for their Some Great Reward tour.

Broadcasting her BBC Radio 6 Music show live from Glasgow School of Art today, Lauren Laverne revealed the full festival line-up – one which encapsulates the alternative spirit of the network – across the weekend:

Goldfrapp / The Jesus and Mary Chain / Belle & Sebastian/

So… here they are. The Fall with Mark E Smith are will be gracing the Woodland stage. And BBC Folk award winners Sean Lakeman and Kathryn Roberts are also due to play in the same sylvan setting (replacing the Nova twins who have a touring commitment). Third new act on the bill are Scottish indie boys Glasvegas.
Steve Blount, Bearded Theory organiser, “has this to say:
We are hugely excited to be welcoming Seasick Steve to Bearded Theory’’s Spring Gathering 2017. Along with our other headliners Madness, Skunk Anansie and Slaves –– not to mention more than 100 other acts over 6 stages, –we believe this is without a doubt the strongest line up we have ever put together”

Seminal British rock act Skunk Anansie, and punk duo Slaves will headline on Friday. And (personal favourites here) the wonderful Alabama 3 will be making a very welcome return.

Derby local punk heroes ANTI-PASTI have also been confirmed (replacing the briefly-announced Anti-Nowhere League). And Hollywood based rock, rhythm and blues band VINTAGE TROUBLE will be making a Sunday evening appearance. This act have supported The Who, AC/DC, Bon Jovi and Paloma Faith, and been joined in their own concerts by Brian May.

Skunk Anansie, and punk duo Slaves (below) will headline on Friday. The unique Magical Sounds tent with its mix of global psychedelia and dance will feature Banco de Gaia, Transglobal Underground, Ed Tangent and Hebden Bridge’s own Tetchi.

Tickets are predictably going fast, and congratulations to Bearded Theory for keeping the tickets affordable – a weekend pass with camping is only £110.25. That’s for FOUR days of music plus as much revelry as you can cope with .
As a massive thank you to all loyal festival goers, Thursday’s “bonus” Pallet stage line-up will feature virtually the entire 2008 Saturday Main Stage bill. Appearing will be these Bearded favourites: Dreadzone, 3 Daft Monkeys, Tarantism, True Deceivers,Hobo Jones & The Junkyards Dogs and more with Don Letts presiding, to help celebrate our 10th anniversary year.
