Grammy award winning singer songwriter Father John Misty announces a UK exclusive headline show, at the Grade I listed and newly renovated Piece Hall in Halifax.

Father John Misty has enjoyed much critical acclaim following the release of his award-winning third album ‘Pure Comedy’, and he brings his charismatic live show to Halifax joined by a host of special guests. Recent live appearances include a headline performance at End of the Road Festival, and sold out UK tour in late 2017. This special event will be the only headline show in the UK taking place this Summer.
Best known for his tenure fronting the Scottish pop revivalists Orange Juice as well as his international solo hit “A Girl Like You,” singer Edwyn Collins joining Misty on the bill on Saturday 26th May.

Also announced today is Frightened Rabbit, who celebrated the 10 year anniversary of the release of the seminal album ‘Midnight Organ Fight’ at the end of 2017 with three special UK shows. They will bring their clever but purposefully naïve pop music to the beautiful backdrop of Piece Hall.

Following the release of their first new work in 3 years in album ‘Microshift’, our good friends and Leeds/ Halifax based psychedelic noise rock band Hookworms will add their signature sound of euphoric catharsis to this one of a kind bill.

Completing the line-up is one of the most exciting young bands in the country right now, Halifax’s fast-rising The Orielles. Having announced details of the release of their debut album, ‘Silver Dollar Moment’ on Heavenly Recordings, their sound is tinged by their influences from 90s alternative rock bands Sonic Youth and Pixies.

This is the first event of its kind to take place at the recently reopened 66,000 sq ft open air piazza Piece Hall, following a multi-million pound transformation.

Legendary industrial & electronic pioneers Cabaret Voltaire Official will perform a rare exclusive show at Grauzone Festival 2018. One of the most influential acts of the last 40 years, they paved the way for Depeche Mode, New Order, Ministry, Nine Inch Nails and dance, techno, dub, etc. Now consisting of founder Richard H. Kirk, the show will feature -analog- machines, cassettes, multi-screen projections and new material which promises to be a unique experience

Cocaine Piss from Luik/Liège have been ripping up stages with their fast, effective, aggressive live shows. In no time these noise punks have become a cult band, and are even called ”the future of Belgian music”. Think of Bikini Kill, The Slits and riot grlll. Their album The Dancer (2016) was recorded by legend Steve Albini (pixies, nirvana). They will play Best Kept Secret Festival and other big fests later this year but this is your chance to see them in an intimate setting where they will surely blow you away!

Drab Majesty fantastic album ”The Demonstration” was chosen as post-punk album of the year 2017. They blend classic 80s New Wave, goth and early 4AD with a futuristic originality. This is one of the best new darkwave, gothic dreampop, shoegaze bands around and their only Dutch show. This is a must see!

Hypnotic, psychedelic, desert drone krautrock: The Myrrors from Arizona! Their 4th album Hasta La Victoria (2017) is a ”masterpiece” (said influential online magazine CVLT Nation) and their spacey live shows are a huge experience! ”The raddest psych band you will hear today” (cvlt nation).

Paul Simon has scheduled a farewell performance for July 15th at London’s Hyde Park. The gig is the only concert Simon has scheduled for 2018 so far. It is unclear if the show is meant to be an official retirement send-off.

The concert, officially billed as Homeward Bound: The Farewell Performance, will also feature James Taylor and his All-Star Band and Bonnie Raitt. Additional performers will be announced at a later date.

Simon’s performance will close out the British Summer Time festival, a 10-day event that will also feature sets from Roger Waters, Eric Clapton, Bruno Mars, the Cure and Michael Bublé.

Paul Simon spent much of the past two years touring in support of his most recent album, 2016’s Stranger to Stranger. That same year, Simon began to hint at retirement, saying “Showbiz doesn’t hold any interest for me … I am going to see what happens if I let go. Then I’m going to see, who am I? Or am I just this person that was defined by what I did? And if that’s gone, if you have to make up yourself, who are you?”
