Thurston Moore

No word on a new Thurston Moore album just yet, but the former Sonic Youth member recently updated his webpage with a new single called “Cease Fire” and added several tour dates. “Cease Fire” is classic sounding Thurston Moore with a lengthy noise jam in the middle that should please anyone who’s missing Sonic Youth. Thurston released the song with this statement:

Guns are designed to kill and we, as non-violent human beings, are against the killing of any person or animal. The song is also about the power of love, in all its freedom of choice. A power that no gun can extinguish as love will rule always. Melt down your guns and kiss your neighbor.

“Cease Fire” is up for a free download at Thurston’s own webpage.

His upcoming tour dates include a small amount of UK dates but stay tuned maybe for more. His band for the tour will be his Sonic Youth bandmate Steve Shelley, My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe, and James Sedwards. All dates are listed below.

Thurston’s last single was the Chelsea Manning benefit single “Chelsea’s Kiss” that he dropped a few months ago. Thurston and Iggy Pop are subject of the new documentary “I’ve Nothing But My Name”, which recently screened in New York .
