The folk scene is suddenly awash with duos, but Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker stand out due to their originality; she has a fine, cool vocal style and plays recorder, flute and saxophone, while he is an excellent guitarist and banjo player who also arranges the orchestral settings for their songs. They are mostly set in the traditional folk idiom with material including some traditional songs. Their albums are notable for Clarke’s thoughtful and gloomy songwriting.
