London’s Visions festival has announced its first wave of artists for 2018.

HMLTD, IDLES, Chastity Belt, Nilüfer Yanya, Sampa The Great, Laura Misch, Blue Hawaii, Carla Dal Forno, Duds, Sports Team, Girlhood, Black Midi and Honey Harper are the first names announced who will perform at the one-day event on August 4th at various venues across east London. London’s hottest multi-venue festival just got hotter with a raft of new additions to the already killer line-up. Funky New York post punk pioneers ESG are signed up to give their only festival performance of the summer; fresh from her banging remix of Peaches’ I Mean Something, producer JD Samson (of Le Tigre and MEN) has been confirmed, along with ethereal Canadian singer and producer Jessy Lanza, Icelandic-British girl power pop punks Dream Wife, experimental Norwich duo Let’s Eat Grandma, Hedi Slimane’s LA muses Bleached and the Brainfeeder signed Brit Iglooghost, whose awesome Low End Theory set i-D caught in February.

The new recruits join Mykki Blanco — whose new music we are dying to hear, fearless performer Anna Calvi, Edinburgh hip pop group Young Fathers, US noise rock duo Lightning Bolt, and local talent Gengahr, Pumarosa, The Japanese House, grime MC Elf Kid, tantric rockers Ulrika Spacek and art ravers Drones Club.

Visions is on Saturday 6 August across six venues in Hackney. Tickets are on sale now, currently at £30 for a wristband to access all venues.

Visions returns to East London for a third year of merriment. The people behind Visions are none other than Rockfeedback, Bird on the Wire and SexBeat – prominent independent tastemaker promoters of London.  Its top line-up, easy-going young DIY ethos combined with very competitive prices has gained a significant fanbase and great reviews. Previous line-ups included hot new artists (Perfume Genius, Young Fathers and Alvvays) more established names (Cloud Nothings, East India Youth) and cult heroes (Andrew WK). This year the festival have added new areas, including the Space Gallery Courtyard and St John in Hackney Church. As well as offering fresh sounds, a cool vibe and superior culinary delights, Visions manages to be criminally cheap, with tickets priced at just £30.

Music highlights: The Antlers, Fat White Family, Toy, Andy Stott, Ceremony, Girl Band,Hinds, Luke Abbott, Peaking Lights, Son Lux
