Bringing back the big riffs and outrageous attitude of 70’s glam rock, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard the Cardiff based band currently taking flight who are about to blow your mind. Having just released their ‘The Non-Stop’ EP which has been a huge hit with the critics and look set to be the biggest new band of 2020!

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard are Tom Rees (guitar/lead vocals), his brother Ed (bass), Zac White (guitar) and Ethan Hurst (drums).

“The formative stages of glam-rock in the early ’70s was and always will be huge for me, the music and style that came forward in those years is visually and audibly stunning. Electric Warrior is like Tutankhamen’s Tomb to me, it should be in museums across the world.”

Cardiff based brothers Tom and Ed Rees are true children of the revolution, having been born into musical family with a father that was once onstage with The Bay City Rollers, flying the flag for the tartan army onstage. Those 70’s grooves deep in their veins flow to their fingers and into the fretboard which saw them initially become a studio-based band leading to the creation of their debut single ‘In Vain’.

“Myself and Ed are brothers, and our papa used to play drums for The Bay City Rollers back in the day, though I should clarify that it was when they were on their decline – bad times, long live Bay City.” – Tom Rees Feeling like a fully-fledged band following the release of ‘In Vain’, they set their sights on global domination starting with a split 12” of their first song with fellow Cardiff innovators Boy Azooga and even appearing at Glastonbury 2019 on the BBC Introducing stage!

Continuing their meteoric rise, the flared guitar warriors have just dropped ‘The Non-Stop’ EP. The awesome ten track record kicks off with the single ‘Double Denim Hop’ which is a true life story about those that dare to wear the DD as singer Rees explains; “I had started wearing double denim (I of course thought it looked good but nothing else really throws other people of the scent of despair than Two Denim items hung on ONE PERSON ONLY) and wore it pretty consistently over the weekend that I was up there.”

We are so excited about the rise of Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and with a brand-new record to show off, you can bet their upcoming shows are going to be AMAZING! Not only do they have their own headline dates lines up, but the glam rock revivalists will be appearing at the inaugural wide eyed festival which hits Leicester in February.

Welsh four-piece Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard have shared their new single ‘Double Denim Hop’ via Communion Records.

Premiered by Steve Lamacq on his BBC Radio 6 Music show, the new single was written by frontman and guitarist Tom Rees shortly after moving back to his hometown Barry after finishing university and “just bathing in melodrama as I worked out what I was going to do with the rest of my life like any other straight edge 21 year old who should have maybe spent a couple more years partying, just to loosen up a little.” For new friends and rockers, this song is our pride and joy, really the formation of us. For long time rockers, we’ve created a disco version too, to keep your feet moving, with a hot new vid shot by us in isolation,

The original track and a new disco version of ‘Double Denim Hop’ are both out now.

“I went on a real big disco trip when I was 18/19, I actually played in a disco band called Chronic Strut at that time too which I had completely forgotten about until right this second,” Rees adds on the dancefloor version. “This journey through disco offered a bit of a fresh perspective on the ‘70s rock vibe, just because it seemed to be a bit more energetic and above all, positive. Listening to a lot of early ‘70s Lennon can really make you cynical and bitter, so it’s good to have some Kool and the Gang to balance it out, plus with K and the G you get to go outside and dance with other people, as opposed to crying for John Lennon alone in your bedroom.”

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard are the next cab on the rank from the Cardiff scene. Possessed of a playful take on the glam rock of the 1970s, led by Tom Rees and joined by Ed Rees on bass, Zac White on guitar and Ethan Hurst on drums. They are distilling the thrill of early Rolling Stones and T.Rex and stamping it with the Buzzard style and wit, their shows have elicited wild scenes in recent months.

Splicing the classicism with an individual wit, a cheeky grin, and an array of stone cold hip shaking rockin’ tunes. Having appeared on a split EP last year with Boy Azooga on cool Cardiff imprint Bubblewrap it marked Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard out as a coming force, now with their moniker trebled Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and an album apparently in the can, they are certainly ones to watch this coming year.

Their debut single proper ‘Double Denim Hop’ confirms it. An ode inspired by the confidence inspired by wearing two pieces of denim, this urgent rock’n’roll splattered track is infused with effervescent energy that is somehow both redolent of the Sweet‘s Blockbuster and T.Rex‘s ‘Ride a White Swan’yet isn’t a boring homage to either. Reassuringly, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, this tune swaggers down the street with nifty guitar licks and vocal lip curls like the New York Dolls on their holidays, bursting into a super singalong chorus, far from pastiche this is utterly addictive, get up and dance now!
