Looking to escape this dreary weather and get transported to another galaxy? Well, let this video take you away to the land of Honeyblood and her new track ‘Bubble Gun’. Full of post punk hooks, intergalactic battles and bad-ass silver ensembles, you can watch Stina Tweeddale, flanked by two accomplices fight conspicuous aliens and sticky situations. Honeyblood will be bringing their infectious sound to The Garage on 31st October
Starring HB & band (Stina Tweeddale, Debbie Knox-Hewson and Anna Donigan) plus Jules Rodríguez
Honeyblood’s third album sees Stina Tweeddale finding her most ambitious form and steely focus yet. Three albums in she has stepped forward to finally claim the mantle of the project she birthed seven years ago as a her sole vision. Stina takes the reigns in collaboration with none-other than super-producer John Congleton (Angel Olsen, St Vincent) for the most definitive Honeyblood LP to date, consolidating the Glasgow-born band as one of the most important UK names. On lead single, The Third DegreeStina’s arguably perfected the fine art of the punk-rock ode-to-the-shit-head-ex. ButIn Plain Sight is as sonically gung-ho as peak era Garbage, or the modern day likes of St Vincent; big, bold, songwriting no longer content to be tied to one limited genre. Woven with mysterious themes of illusion and deception, Tweeddale describes the album as “one big trick”. Being hoodwinked never felt so exciting.

With the departure of drummer Shona McVicar after their debut in 2014, new drummer Cat Myers joined singer/guitarist Stina Tweeddale in the second incarnation of Honeyblood and now the second full-length album release.
Producer James Dring (Jamie T, Gorillaz) refines the distorted fuzzy hooks of their early DIY material and tightens the catchy choruses and call-and-response guitar lines. In between the opening and closing instrumentals, ‘Intro’ and ‘Outro’, there are ten tracks of varying degrees of heavy percussion (the album’s title track), lead single ‘ReadyFor The Magic’, all pop-punk infectiousness with handclaps and sing-along swagger, and the grunge-styled ‘Sea Hearts’.
Elsewhere, the fuzzy guitar ballad ‘Cruel’ with Myers and Tweeddale’s harmonies slows the pace, and there’s a wistful, emotional side to ‘Gangs’, Tweddale’s recollection of early life growing up in a rough suburb of Edinburgh
Honeyblood’s second album is a high quality vehicle of contagious spirit and ‘babes forever’ girl power.
Honeyblood’s new single ‘Ready For The Magic’ from the forthcoming album ‘Babes Never Die’. Out 4th November on Fat Cat.
Glasgow duo Honeyblood have been one of my favourite new bands this year with superb songs, great playing and a huge sound for just the two girls Shona McVicar on drums and Stina Tweeddale on guitars, Ive caught them live several times and the songs just got better, so the anticpation for the debut album is exceeded, released on Fat Cat Records and recorded in just 10 days with the Nationals producer Peter Katis studio in Connecticut USA last November its such an accomplished listen with the favourites from the live set and with strong Riffs throughout, the guitars to the fore the opener “Fall Forever” to the punkish “Killer Bangs” and the superb lyric to “Super Rat” these are all Indie Pop gems and the more poppy “I’d Rather Be Anywhere But Here” it also has the bands classic track “Bud” .
