Early-’90s British shoegazers Swervedriver might not be as revered as contemporaries like My Bloody Valentine or Ride, but they did charged-up bleariness as well as almost anyone. Swervedriver went on hiatus in 1998 and then reunited at the 2008 Coachella festival, but they never got around to releasing any new music until the single Deep Wound last year. And now the band has announced that they’ve got a new full-length ready to go. “I Wasn’t Born To Lose You”, which is set to arrive in a couple of months, will be the band’s first studio effort since 1998’s 99th Dream, and first single “Setting Sun” is a lovely piece of blurry heaviness.

London sister trio Jagaara are releasing their brilliant new single “In The Dark” on Record Store Day 2015, but you can hear another previewd track  “In The Dark” is skeletal in every sense: the hi-hat and kick drum shamble into each other like clattering bones; its minimal guitar lines echo and repeat like a siren song; Jane’s vocals wander this icy landscape, her shadowy lyrics dangling heavy from the frame, telling the story of a love rotten and unrecognizable as the vibrant, pulsing thing it once was.

Mostly, the Edmonson Sisters are masters of these ethereal elements, building them expertly to a cleansing, darkly catchy climax. But at times, as when Jane belts “if it wasn’t for this love/I wouldn’t be in the dark” in the chorus, they sound possessed; the practitioners are overtaken momentarily by the magic they’ve conjured. And we are all the better for it.

“In The Dark” will be released as a limited 7” on Record Store Day with a remix of  “Heartbeats” by Edwin Congreave of Foals. The band says:  “We’ve always wanted our music on vinyl, and it’s finally happened! It’s so exciting to be a part of Record Store Day. We wrote ‘In the Dark’ all together, so the sentiment of the song resonates deeply with all three of us. We had an amazing time recording the track and we’re so excited for people to hear it. We can’t wait for our mini tour in May and for festival season to kick off! Itchy feet!!!”

British-based quartet Kid Wave feel their way through varying strains of garage rock on their upcoming EP. The title, Gloom, doesn’t exactly imply the overall mood of the record, which lands in a beach-y dreamworld at times and a reverberating, psychedelic realm at others. Twisted, driving guitars on “All I Want” are evened out by its sunny, hook-laden chorus. “Young Blood” is where the consistently disaffected vocals are at their best, riding alongside convulsing, surf-inspired riffs. Kid Wave’s serrated edges, wistful lyrics and mid-tempo melodies intertwine on Gloom for four breezy rock ‘n’ roll tracks.

Kid Wave has signed with Heavenly Recordings in the UK, (Temples, the Wytches and TOY). Gloom was released on November 24th 2014.

Put on your favorite pair of ripped jeans, and prep for an epic solo dance party in your bedroom—it’s what London-based Kid Wave would want. Although there isn’t much to their latest video, “Wonderlust,” (the four-piece essentially just rock out), watching it will make you feel all warm and fuzzy. And you will start to uncontrollably sway your head from side to side. The song is emotionally gripping as Emmery’s low voice rises behind the wave of crashing guitar chords. Similar to the nostalgic nature of their glam gloom sound, the video has a dated quality to it as the camera spins around in a hazy, faded out state.

Consisting of Lea Emmery, Serra Petale, Harry Deacon and Mattias Bhatt, the band originally comes from the likes of Sweden, Australia and London. With a steady following on the Internet over the past two years, enough sold-out shows in the U.K., and a cool label behind them (Heavenly Recordings), it’s only a matter of time before all eyes are watching them.

Kid Wave’s debut album Wonderlust will be released June 2nd via Heavenly Recordings. Until then, we’ll be playing this video and bobbing our heads non-stop

Kid Wave’s new single “Wonderlust” is released on Monday 30th March.

Emerging late in 2012 out of London town , Desert Mountain Tribe is a threefold onslaught of psychedelic rock heart and soul. Arguably a genre which has noted a massive depletion in prominence within recent years, if not decades, the psych-blood flows strong still in the veins of founding members Jonty Balls (Guitar/Vocals) and brothers Philipp (Bass) and Felix (Drums) Jahn.
With the brothers having cut their teeth side by side throughout their formative years, playing together in a multitude of ensembles from a very young age, here and now in 2013 they constitute one of the more formidable emerging rhythm sections currently active on the United Kingdom’s club circuit.
Recording their début EP, an effort committed to tape in the trip-worthy surroundings of Shaken Oak Farm in Oxfordshire and subsequently mastered by none other Brett Orrison of The Black Angels, early in 2013- the result is a confident leap into genre-significance, with the bands time on the road since the disks release surely acting to supplement their new-found place.

In the year they have been active, Desert Mountain Tribe have shared the stage with the likes of Damo Suzuki¸ The Cult of Dom Keller, The Lucid Dream, Wall of Death and The Telescopes. Make no mistake; this is a group intent on making its mark within a long-lost area of British rock music.
With early stand-out track ‘Coming Down’ all set to feature on Reverb Conspiracy’s latest compilation offering (a release which will in-turn be double-headed by the equally legendary imprints Fuzz Club Records and Austin Psych Fest), a separate release is due in November via Greek label Sonic Playground.

A year into what has already proven itself to be an inter-sensual, mind-bending odyssey, Desert Mountain Tribe are currently making preparations for their eagerly awaited and as-of-yet untitled début album, whilst continuing to lap our tiny island nation in a string of sonic live performances.

Tellison are a four-piece waking-nightmare of a band from London, UK. Formed out of a shared love of unsuccessful indie rock bands of the late 90s and early 00s Tellison have, to date, released two critically acclaimed albums and a clutch of sold-out, occasionally charting, singles. They write imperfect songs about hope, loss, love and literature. Lead single “Say Silence” from 2011’s sophomore album “The Wages of Fear” somehow managed to reference Shakespeare, Jacques Lacan, Bill Murray, Wes Anderson, John Donne and Tarantino in the same breath – not a huge number of people noticed. Undaunted, Tellison are currently putting the finishing touches to album number three, dusting off their guitars and referencing conventions and stepping up to take another swing at, if not the big time, at least the medium time.

Splashh began life as the brainchild of Toto Vivian and Sasha Carlson forming in late February 2012. The duo initially bonded over their mutual music tastes and then began plotting their sun drenched musical assault on the UK. Growing up between the South Pacific and the UK they left the beaches behind to record in a small bedroom in Hackney. The result was a myriad of floating, fuzz laden grunge pop tunes with a punk twist. With a number of songs in the can the boys then recruited close friends Thomas Beal on bass and Jacob Moore on drums. The 2 new additions made for a sense of excitement that Splashh were primed and ready to roll as a band.

The carefree attitude within their music transports the listener to the summers of yesteryear kicking back with good friends. Sounds of dreamy fuzz being thrust through the walls of your neighbour’s garage as the “slackers on summer holiday” dream of adventure, fun and the open road. With releases planned through the summer, plenty of gigs and a hungry music loving public awaiting, it seems as if the adventure isn’t too far away

London based The Moon appear to be in that early stage of elusiveness still having released very little information about themselves up to this point. However, their first track ‘Eureka Moment’, a song that has a grunge-indie hybrid feel to it, definitely leaves you wanting more from the rocking four-piece and wets the appetite for what they’ll bring in the future.

With catchy guitar riffs, energetic and driving drum beats, noisy feedback and enticing vocals; ‘Eureka Moment’ is a tune full of strong elements, all of which combine to drive the song along nicely.

Full of vigour, The Moon rock out throughout the track and don’t hold back for a second of it.

So today despite the cold and dark days Eliza And The Bear have a new song called ‘Light It Up’. Whatever this London quintet releases it is embedded with the sun so even on those annoying rainy days, they give you an unbreakable silver lining. ‘Light It Up’ takes jubilant hand claps and vocals pitched to the definition of exhilaration, allowing only instant joy to flow from this unstoppable band.

The track received BBC Radio 1 coverage a couple of days ago, and I am pretty sure Eliza And The Bear are on a one track road to instant stardom.
