Working Men’s Club have returned with the Atticus Ross-produced new single ‘Devout’, which they say introduces a new chapter. The standalone single follows on from critically-acclaimed albums ‘Working Men’s Club’ (2020) and ‘Fear Fear’ (2022), and is the first release they’ve shared since signing to Domino.
Said in a press release to herald the beginning of a new era for Working Men’s Club – aka songwriter-singer-producer Sydney Minsky Sargeant – the track sees Working Men’s Club join forces with Grammy-winning composer and Nine Inch Nails’ Atticus Ross.
The song takes on an intense, looming electronica sound as it fades in, with the rapidly increasing instrumentation being topped off with Sargeant’s distinctive, synth-inspired vocals.
While the sound has the same urgency and driving melodies that Working Men’s Club showcased in their previous material, ‘Devout’ introduces new, more-vulnerable lyrics and more abstract elements into the mix.
“Devout” always felt like the right song to return with,” said Sargeant.
