BURR OAK – ” Fomo / Tryin “

Posted: June 10, 2021 in MUSIC

Burr Oak is the new project of Chicago based singer-songwriter Savanna Dickhut who merges together brutally honest, story- driven lyrics with raw, dreamy vocals. With just two singles out this past year, the Chicago Tribune wrote her songs “show the promise of a songwriter sure of her voice and sound, one that is piercing and deeply relatable and authentic.”

Born and raised on the north side of Chicago in Rogers Park, Savanna Dickhut discovered her passion for music at an early age. She’s always had a love for performing and writing, so when she was given her first guitar at 14 for her eighth grade graduation present she was finally able to put the two talents together. Drawing influence from 60’s and 70’s artists such as Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel and James Taylor as well as a few more contemporary acts like Natalie Merchant, Sheryl Crow, Joan Osborne and Shawn Colvin. Savanna has been developing her unique approach to song writing and musicianship for almost eight years now.

Taking a break from her solo act to focus on the development of Burr Oak, she is just as passionate about the new band as she is about her solo work. “I’ve been curating my work for some time now, and its always just been about me and my experiences. Working with Julian has opened up creative sides of me that I didn’t know I had. I think we both have our strengths and balance each other out in certain ways.” More driven than she has ever been, Savanna is ready to take her career to the next level with the rest of the band by her side.
