We are thrilled to announce the first 150 artists to join our 10th anniversary festival line-up including southern soul-rock quartet Alabama Shakes, the first Brighton Dome show artist to be announced. As one of the most anticipated artists in 2012, they played to just 400 people, the same year that they delivered their hit debut album ‘Boys & Girls‘. The band will triumphantly return in 2015 to bring their powerful live show to The Great Escape’s biggest stage.

The venues, churches, pubs, streets and bandstands that make up the 30+ venues in use across Brighton will be bursting with future sounds across every genre including experimental folk singer Soak, reflective LA-dwelling songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr., alt-punk BBC Sound of 2015 nominees Slaves, disarmingly emotive hip hop artist Loyle Carner and lovelorn electronic soul artist Dan Bodan.

Also amongst the first 150 artists joining the line-up today is North London’s dreamy electronic trio Real Lies, wistful and soaring melodies from Flo Morrisey, Brighton born producer and Chase & Status collaborator Louis Mttrs, futurist electropop from Jack Garratt, Winnipeg hip hop collective The Lytics, heavily textured synth soundscapes from Oceaan, Swedish pop-noir songstress Seinabo Sey, powerful evocative vocalist Laura Doggett, Essex teenage talent Rat Boy, Welsh indie-rock group Pretty Vicious, Swedish-American pop innovator Mapei, Dublin four-piece Girl Band, Malian desert punk band Songhoy Blues and, returning to the Great Escape after their legendary debut in 2012, London-based folktronica foursome Django Django.

Following last week’s announcement of the final 150 bands playing at TGE 2015 we have updated our highlights per day to include some of the new additions. The Cribs, Blanck Mass, Gaz Coombes, Queen Kwong, Tkay Maidza and Tropics are amongst these new artists.

The Great Escape is the biggest new music festival in Europe and our equivalent of Austin’s SXSW. As much a industry trade show as a festival it offers an vast line-up of hundreds of bands from around the world playing dozens of venues spread across Brighton city centre. For a novice it is an overwhelming and chaotic experience.  Getting in to see the hottest bands requires military planning, nous and boundless energy.  Be prepared for long queues and sweaty small venues. The Great Escape Convention (industry conference), The Alternative Escape and Brighton Dome Shows all run alongside the main three-day event.

Music highlights: Alabama Shakes, Django Django, Dutch Uncles, H. Hawkline, Jack Garratt, Kate Tempest, Lapsley, Pretty Vicious, Turbowolf, Zun Zun Egui
