PEANESS - Are You Sure?

Three-piece indie-pop band Peaness release their new EP Are You Sure? via Alcopop! Records on a ‘Mellow Yellow’ vinyl, strictly limited to 500, packaged with their debut EP No Fun and another bonus track on the B Side

Of the title track, an ode to none other than controversial MP for Tatton George Osbourne, the band are pretty clear as to where they found their influence for this song… Jess (lead vocalist) says “Un-inspired by ex-chancellor tory tyrant, George Osbourne and his crappy red briefcase, when at the time we thought things couldn’t get worse. How naive.”

BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1 and Radio X have all championed the band with growing support from national press including Clash, The Skinny Magazine, Upset and more – with a full page in Kerrang Magazine introducing the band popping up last week. Selling like proverbial hot cakes of DIY-goodness, pre-orders of their latest single ‘Same Place’/‘Seafoam’ on Oddbox Records sold out in just two days, with the repress selling out in a week, and the band have revealed a string of UK festival appearances for summer 2017 including 2000 Trees, TRUCK, Indietracks, Focus Wales and more.

Regular fixtures on the indie-pop scene, Chester’s Peaness are already making waves courtesy of support from nearly every Welsh DJ you can think of. This week the trio have announced their latest double A-side single, Same Place/Seafoam Islands, which will come out early next year on Odd Box Records.

Ahead of it’s release Peaness have shared the video for the singles flip side, Seafoam Islands. the song has a touch of Girl Ray or Sacred Paws; injecting catchy indie-pop melodies with jerking rhythms, and danceable basslines  it is a track that worms its way into your head and simply refuses to leave. Having supported the likes of Sauna Youth, PAWS and pretty much anyone who’s on Fortuna Pop, Peaness are a band destined for huge things – and listening to this it’s going to be a really fun ride.

Same Place/Seafoam Islands are out January 27th via Odd Box Records (very limited edition and selling fast!) .

When you tell someone that you’re really love Peaness, This three piece indie-pop trio based in Chester with more hooks, charm and depth than a dozen indie pop boy bands Peaness have been bubbling under with a recent self-released cassette called No Fun and then an internet single Oh George that is so undeniable that it could have you lining up to buy it if it existed in some form where you actually had to line up to buy it.

Take heart patient pop fans, the band now have a new 7-inch vinyl single out now on Vancouver, Canada’s indie  label Kingfisher Bluez. If you are a fan of Standard Fare/Mammoth Penguins or Allo Darlin’ then this record will be one you want to add to your collection. Even if the single contains two songs that were on the cassette and leaves off their best song to date (Oh George), you the erudite pop fan won’t sweat the details because you will want to own one of the best singles of the year and be ready to see what these ladies will come up with next.

One of the highlights of A Carefully Planned Festival and Indie Week Europe in 2016, Peaness (say it out loud for its true comic value) are a trio of talented females who hail from Chester and deal in dizzyingly colourful slices of harmony heavy indie pop.
