Nothing But Thieves have unveiled the first single from their forthcoming album release. ‘Amsterdam’ is taken from the band’s second album ‘Broken Machine’, due for release on September 8th via RCA Records.

Produced by Mike Crossey (The 1975, Foals, Arctic Monkeys, Twenty One Pilots), the album was recorded at Ranch Studios in California.

Speaking of their new single ‘Amsterdam’, the band said: “It was inspired by our love of direct, guttural choruses. It’s like Conor is spitting the words in your face. It’s visceral and has momentum but also this beautiful moment in the middle which feels like a break in a sea storm. We didn’t have all the pieces before going in to the studio and this was one of the tracks that really came alive during the recording progress. It pretty much demanded to be our first song back.”

Ahead of their forthcoming self-titled debut album, which is due for release on 16th October, Nothing But Thieves,  the band’s vocalist Conor Mason has spoken about their recent set at Reading and Leeds festivals and the new album “We began recording it last summer and finished it a few months ago. We just are so particular about our sound that we kept going back and nitpicking at it. We’re so proud of how it’s come out, worked out asses off and cannot wait to release it. After the release we’re literally on tour straight off for a month and a half so we can’t fucking wait for that.

About Reading Festival: “This year I’m literally going to jump over and spend the day in the NME / Radio 1 tent. The line up’s fucking nuts: Slaves, Circa Waves, Everything Everything, Catfish and the Bottlemen.

“And I’m looking forward to catching up with Marmozets and Twin Atlantic,

The band’s summer of festivals has also been helpful in shaping their new album. “You can definitely tell what your crowd reacts to and what songs they favour etc, so it’s always a good place to judge.

Then it’s just tour tour tour heavily. Bring it on.”

This band continue a dizzying ascent that’s already seen them tipped through MTVs Next Big Thing project. Don’t be misled by the beautiful, slightly Kodaline-esque harmonies to their songs, as the Southend four-piece pack a hard-hitting sound that is beyond any expectation. From these glowing embers they spark into stadium-sized indie-rock with poignant shudders, particularly on ‘Tempt You’ and ‘Graveyard Whistling’.

On the latter you’ll have frontman Conor’s gravelly lyrics keeping you company, before an earth-shattering crescendo that’s rich with guitars and atmospheric reverb.
