Lucy Dacus is heading on tour next year. The singer-songwriter, who shared her wonderful third album “Home Video” this summer, will embark on dates across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe from early February to mid-April with Indigo De Souza and Fenne Lilly opening.
Along with the tour announcement, Dacus has shared a new full-band version of the Home Video song “Thumbs.” A fan favourite long before it was officially released, “Thumbs” in its original incarnation set Dacus’s heartbreaking description of familial trauma on top of plush synth chords. For “Thumbs Again,” Dacus adds a torrent of new instrumentation without overwhelming what made the stripped-down original special.

Dacus spoke about the composition of “Thumbs”. “I think the last line of the song is like the whole purpose of the song. Just to say that like you don’t owe anybody shit, or anybody that feels entitled to your time or they own you is just wrong. Yeah. It’s ultimately a victorious, supportive type of song, but it’s just pretty bleak.”
