Honeyblood tickets

The two-piece Glasgow based band may be small in number but mighty in talent, uniting drummer Cat Myers with guitarist Stina Marie Claire Tweedale who both share vocals. The lofi band have quickly emerged as a force to be reckoned with playing fantastic gigs around the world and benefitting from prominent airplay. Honeyblood take their name from a recipe for fake blood used by Tweedale for a Halloween gig that she gargled and spat upon her attending audience.

Originally, the band’s line-up included Edinburgh girl Tweedale and drummer Shona McVicar from Cumbernauld who intended to recruit additional members but quickly began gigging after they formed in 2012 and realised that they didn’t need anyone else. They released their demo tape entitled Thrift Shop the same year.
The duo’s charisma and excellent song writing was apparent from the outset and they attracted the interest of FatCat Records by their second gig and were soon signed to the label.

They began work on their debut album in Connecticut in the United States during November of 2013 to work with producer Peter Katis, taking only ten days to complete the recording. Their eponymously titled debut album was released the following year. A year that also saw the departure of McVicar to be quickly replaced by Cat Myers.

With the departure of drummer Shona McVicar after their debut in 2014, new drummer Cat Myers joined singer/guitarist Stina Tweeddale in the second incarnation of Honeyblood and now the second full-length album release.

Producer James Dring (Jamie T, Gorillaz) refines the distorted fuzzy hooks of their early DIY material and tightens the catchy choruses and call-and-response guitar lines. In between the opening and closing instrumentals, ‘Intro’ and ‘Outro’, there are ten tracks of varying degrees of heavy percussion (the album’s title track), lead single ‘Ready For The Magic’, all pop-punk infectiousness with handclaps and sing-along swagger, and the grunge-styled ‘Sea Hearts’.

Elsewhere, the fuzzy guitar ballad ‘Cruel’ with Myers and Tweeddale’s harmonies slows the pace, and there’s a wistful, emotional side to ‘Gangs’, Tweddale’s recollection of early life growing up in a rough suburb of Edinburgh

Honeyblood’s second album is a high quality vehicle of contagious spirit and ‘babes forever’ girl power.

Honeyblood has just released their first single “Ready for the Magic” off their second album, Babes Never Die due out November 4th via Fat Cat Records. The track starts off with heavy drum beats, shredding guitar riffs and fierce, confident vocals. Stina Tweeddale has this haunting, magical quality in her straightforward lyrics and hooking melodies. Honeyblood is duo Stina Tweeddale and Cat Myers out of Glasgow, Scotland. Forming in 2012 and releasing their first self-titled LP in 2014. I get caught up in their music and I can’t wait for this next album, because like Honeyblood, I am waiting on the next release with delighted anticipation .

A haunting video that kind of explodes in your face… “I can’t get seem to get you off my mind”
