Springsteen has a history of changing tempo and approach of songs from a set of lyrics before settling on the final cut, “Cover Me” from the 1982 Born in the USA sessions was transformed into a different song on the later sessions, the re-worked song has a lot going for it Max pushes the song along at a furious pace and there is a great guitar solo.

Cindy was a outtake from The River Sessions in 1979, the song is about a girl the guy is madly in love with, but she constantly dismisses his attentions, it has a great bass harmony from Clarence and a lovely guitar break. Before deciding The River would be a double album, Springsteen came close to releasing it as just a single disc titled “The Ties That Bind” . Eventually most songs were on the double album release and a handful also appeared on the Tracks collection

An outtake from the Darkness On The Edge of Town session in 1977 with shimmering reverb laden guitar and a sole tambourine and shakers from Clarence Clemons, it starts slowly and builds a vocal that radiates a sexual tension, This is a track that could have been easily left on the finished cut and stands against anything on that album

Springsteen’s version of this classic cajun tune was considered among many songs laid down for “The River” album, But Bruce decided to donate the song to Gary U.S Bonds who recorded the song for the 1981 album “DEDICATION” co produced with Bruce and Steve Van Zandt.
Its played live on occasions, this version is a sign request from a show where Gary joined Bruce and Band in September 2012 in New Jersey.

An outtake from the Born in the USA sessions 1983, The session that Ultimately produced Born In the USA took place in fits and starts over a three year peroid during that time Bruce had headed to his Los Angeles home with a drum machine and recorded the Nebraska Album the cluster of songs from this breif creative outburst. Unsatisfied Heart is the most enigmatic

An outtake from the Darkness on the Edge Of Town Sessions in 1978, earliest versions of the song date back to 1972, when there was a studio piano demo this take was attempted in 1978.
After hearing the song title Warren Zevon was inspired to write his own song using the same title which Springsteen helped him finish.

There were some amazing songs recorded for the River Sessions, bootleg tapes of the E.Street band rehearsals from that era contain a treasure trove of unbelievable material and a glimpse of songs that would become classics. There are rumours that there will be a deluxe box set this year similar to the Darkness re-issue

Also sometimes known as “No More Kings In Texas” this is the spiritual cousin to “Wild Billy’s Circus Story” is a sprawling fantasy rooted in the American west romantic past. The E STREET BAND will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame on Thursday 6th April, there have been at least 12 different incarnation’s of Bruce Springsteen band over many years although possibilly the most famous is the classic line-Up from 1975-83 is the one most people would Nominate.
