Check out this acoustic version of Blown Rose filmed for French music website Sourdoreille before our show at Eurosonic last week..

Blossoms at Eurosonic 2016. Voted 4th on BBC 6 Music’s Sound Of New Music for 2016 list, Blossoms from Manchester are getting around and getting noticed. Together since 2013, they have a string of singles and four eps out so far, but it’s been since 2015 that fortunes are coming their way. They’re currently touring extensively around the UK,  but that’s what the schedule is looking like until March. I have the feeling they are heading westward and without much doubt, going on the Festival circuit this Summer.

Embracing the Indie/Alternative side of things, Blossoms have that potential to hit the market in a big way. And since they are signed to a major (Virgin-EMI) label,

Their 35 minute set is tight and well-executed, and their music is more than accessible on a lot of levels. They are polished, and I suspect that’s the end result of a lot of gigging . I wouldn’t be surprised if they crossover to the mainstream. Eurosonic has had a very interesting and varied lineup of acts this year. Blossoms was a nice addition to the mix, and it indicates the band is sincere about getting their music across.

Winner: Best Major Festival 2015 (UK Festival Awards)

This year, European festivals seem to be competing for who can put together the most ridiculously brilliant line-up. This morning, Lowlands festival might have won.The festival, which takes place in The Netherlands in August, will host LCD Soundsystem, The Last Shadow Puppets, Eagles Of Death Metal, Sigur Ros and many more.

And by ‘many more’, we mean Disclosure, Oscar And The Wolf, Chvrches, Jamie Woon, M83, Oh Wonder, Flatbush Zombies, Sum 41, Aurora, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes. Tiggs Da Author… Yep. It’s ridiculous.

Biddinghuizen, the city that plays host to Lowlands, is just an hour’s drive from Amsterdam too – so you can have a few touristy days before or after seeing some of the biggest bands around. Not too shabby.

See the full line-up for Lowlands, which takes place in Biddinghuizen, The Netherlands, between 19 and 21 August, below. Get tickets and more information here.

Deer Shed Festival 7 Comedy in the Bigtop

Edinburgh Festival Award Winner and Time Out Critic’s Choice, Mark Watson, heads up one of the most exciting Deer Shed Festivalcomedy line-ups in its seven year history. With the focus firmly back on traditional stand-up for 2016, Mark Watson leads Justin Moorhouse, Tony Jameson and an as yet unannounced special guest in an evening of entertainment, fun, and hilarity while the afternoon will play host to comedy favourites Rob Deering, Mrs Barbara Nice, and Tiernan Douieb. With 80% of tickets for Deer Shed Festival 7 already sold we think this comedy line-up should tempt a few more of you!!

Mark Watson is one of the most talked-about British comedians to emerge. Not only a regular on television with appearances on Mock the Week, Have I Got News for You?, and Would I lie to you?, Mark was also the star of the BBC Radio 4 show Mark Watson Makes The World Substantially Better which aired on BBC Radio 4 and also starred Tim Minchin and Tim Key. Not only an excellent stand-up comedian, Mark has written four novels: Bullet Points (2004), A Light-Hearted Look At Murder (2007), Eleven (2010), and The Knot (2012).

Making a very welcome return to the Deer shed Festival is Mancunian comedian Justin Moorhouse. Justin has had many a successful run at Edinburgh Fringe and has taken his comedy all over the world charming audiences as far as Australia, China, Japan, and The Middle East. He’s also a familiar face on TV having appeared on Live At The Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Road Show and Corronation Street! He was also crowned The Champion of Champions on BBC 5Live’s Fighting Talk which is no mean feat. At Deer Shed Festival, he’ll stick to stand-up as he opens the evening show.

Hailing from the North East, Tony Jameson is an ex-college lecturer who found his calling 2008 when he stepped into the comedy circuit. He’s been to Edinburgh Fringe four times with his 2015 show Football Manager Ruined My Life gaining him notoriety. He has since taken his tour around the country entertaining audiences with carefully woven tales of the everyday and fun riffs from his manchild lifestyle. With his quick wit and hilarious anecdotes, Tony is guaranteed to light up a room … or a Bigtop.

The afternoon’s comedy will star the excellent musical comedian Rob Deering who will be using a guitar, a loop pedal and his voice to create impressive rock and pop soundscapes; he’ll also do jokes, of course. Since starting out in 2000, Rob has become one of the most in-demand comics on the circuit and has performed across the world. He has appeared on any number of Radio and TV shows including most recently winning Celebrity Mastermind on BBC One. (A feat he shares with Justin Moorhouse and Mark Watson).

Legendary Mrs Barbara Nice will be returning to the Deer Shed Festival with more tales of being a middle-aged Stockport housewife and mother of five kids. Barbara, aka Janice Connolly, is perhaps best known for her association with Bolton’s Peter Kay and her roles in Phoenix Nights and That Peter Kay Thing though her brilliantly hilarious stand-up has made her a firm favourite of the comedy circuit.

Tiernan Douieb will be opening the comedy at the Bigtop with his silly stand-up made for kids and bigger kids. Gaining endless success on the comedy circuit and the regular host of the Comedy Club 4 Kids, his charming style will have you hooked from the second he walks onstage. Our younger audience might recognise Tiernan from CBBC shows The Slammer or as BBC’s Dick & Dom’s warm-up.

We’re thrilled to have such a strong comedy line-up joining us at the Deer Shed Festival this year. There’s no doubting the quality and brilliance of these comedians each of whom is guaranteed to have you rolling with laughter. Second headliner is on the way soon.

Of the nine islands that make up the Azores, São Miguel is the biggest and its capital holds around’s third of of the entire population. There are no truly indigenous people here, with Portuguese explorers first coming to the volcanic archipelago back in the 15th century. As a stopping off point for trade ships the area’s gentic and cultural make-up has sucked in the best from all cultures and peoples. It’s a landscape is a full contrasts: the rusty. white washed Ponta Delgada surround by some of the most lush, green nature and bluest water I’ve ever seen. Sitting on top of the convergance between three tectonic plates, it’s a fertile area, fed by nutrients from the volcanic rock.

Field Day has announced a handful of new names for this year’s festival, including Sleaford Mods, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Little Simz and Blossoms.
